Chapter 987: Chapter 987
As they ventured deeper into the complex terrain, they finally located a group of special Dragon Beasts. These were Dark Ground Dragons that lived amongst a jumble of rocks and moved on two legs, much like Raptors.
Although not very large, they were genuine tier-four creatures, even if they had only just reached tier-four.
"These Ground Dragons have no abilities other than melee, and a dark mist on their bodies that has a magic attack effect. But their melee capabilities are strong. Let’s test their strength first," Du You concluded after observing them for a while.
Lin Yucha nodded lightly and then quietly moved closer. Invisible, she approached a lone Ground Dragon which failed to detect her presence. Pulling back her bowstring gently, Lin Yucha fired an arrow.
Spiral Snipe was her opening move. The attack was powerful but caused no environmental damage. Under Spiral Snipe, the Ground Dragon seemed to sense something but was hit just as it began to move.
The arrow was so fast that the Ground Dragon had no ability to resist. It passed through, leaving a large hole in the dragon’s head. "Such strong defense, I thought it would pierce through," Lin Yucha commented as she approached and saw that her arrow had penetrated the skull of the Ground Dragon but got stuck in the bone on the other side, piercing only halfway through. This showed just how formidable the defense of the Ground Dragon was, despite its level being lower than her own.
"It seems that attacking the head isn’t the best strategy against dragons; the defense there is the strongest. I wonder if attacking the Inverse Scale would be effective."
"Probably not," Lin Yucha said, "Before coming to this world, I checked, and the dragons here are unique. The Inverse Scale is the hardest part of their body. Attacking there might be even less effective than other areas." Get full chapters from 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹•𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖•𝗇𝗲𝘁
Lin Yucha always liked to prepare well before commencing a mission, a quality Du You admittedly lacked.
"Is that so? Well, no matter, let’s continue hunting and earn some Crystal Coins. We can upgrade our skills with them," agreed Du You.
The party began hunting Ground Dragons in the area. However, only a day later, Du You started to feel frustrated. "It seems this world isn’t just unstable itself, even the rewards are incredibly inconsistent."
Du You looked at the sphere in his hand, bewildered that a tier-four creature could drop a green sphere, clearly a tier-three quality reward. The contents of the sphere were also strange.
Good items were few and bad ones plentiful, likely due to the instability of the world. These Ground Dragons, typically only dropping pale yellow or yellow items, had unexpectedly produced a deep yellow equipment.
But looking at the bone club in his hand, Du You felt dismayed. It wasn’t even suitable for a Warrior to use. Strictly speaking, it was more of a exotic weapon. Its innate ability was Dragon Clan Intimidation, effective only against creatures with dragon lineage.
Such an item was basically useless. Shaking his head, Du You stored it away, perhaps to be traded later. The rest of the items were of no use to them either.
"The overall income from Crystal Coins has also dropped significantly. Fortunately, these Dragon Beasts are supposed to produce plenty of Crystal Coins, and there are quite a few of them around to replenish our supplies. Alright, let’s start upgrading our skills," Du You said, calculating the Crystal Coins in his possession before carelessly selecting new skills for everyone to improve. The strength of a Professional wasn’t just in their tier, but most importantly in the number and level of their skills. As their skills improved, so would their combat effectiveness and safety here.
The next day, after a rest, the group resumed their journey. Du You decided to keep the only quest he had started open, choosing not to submit it yet.
This unstable world was unpredictable. The quest involved hunting Dragon Beasts and was based on the final results of the hunt. Likely, it would be best to claim it when they were ready to leave.
"Look, there are larger Dragon Beasts, wait, these should be Sub-Dragons," Lin Yucha suddenly exclaimed, pointing ahead.
Du You looked forward where indeed a group of very large creatures was visible, about thirteen feet tall, resembling enlarged Triceratops but with thicker heads and without the rear bone plates.
These unique Sub-Dragons were unusual; some ate grass, others munched on leaves, and some were even capturing small animals for food. Du You had never seen such omnivorous Sub-Dragons before.
"Never mind, let’s finish them off," decided Du You, signaling. A Heavenly Disaster Demonic Dog was the first to Instantaneously Move towards them. Its Divinity toxin was beyond the resistance of the Sub-Dragons, which immediately began to show signs of poisoning. Following that, the Demonic Dog struck with a punch, sending shockwaves spreading out and one Sub-Dragon collapsing to the ground, unable to get up.
Other Sub-Dragons, noticing the enemy, turned around roaring and spat out Bone Spikes. Indeed, Bone Spikes, which impacted the Demonic Dog with great force but shattered the next moment.
The Demonic Dog was unharmed, leaving the Sub-Dragons seemingly in trouble.
But soon, they had no time to think as a much larger Heavenly Disaster Demonic Dog pounced. Its massive body, carrying terrifying force, slammed a Sub-Dragon to the ground.
If it weren’t for the Sub-Dragon’s vigorous vitality, it might have been killed by the blow. However, seeing its current state, it likely wouldn’t last much longer, now merely struggling.
Du You and the sisters suddenly appeared behind the Demonic Dog, launching various attacks. Almost ambushing, the Sub-Dragons were overwhelmed before they understood what was happening, swiftly being surrounded and slain by Du You and his Summoned Beasts.
When the bubble finally idled over, the fight was already over - it hadn’t served any purpose throughout. It hadn’t even cast a single blessing spell in the battle, entirely a spectator to the action.
