Chapter 897: Chapter 897
"These Flame Giants are not very friendly towards us," Du You observed, looking down at the red-skinned giants below. Of course, at the moment, these Giants were merely large in stature and lacked any substantial combat prowess.
Not to mention, when they were flying in the air, these Giants could only resort to throwing things at them. If Du You intentionally tried to avoid them, it probably wouldn’t be difficult at all.
However, since they had come to this place and intended to wreak havoc in this world, they definitely needed to hunt more Giants. The more they killed, the easier it would be for them to control the origin of this world. If it were killing too many humans, Du You might feel some reluctance. Even after the last massacre, he still did not want to do such things.
But what stood before them were not humans, but Giants. Despite looking somewhat human-like, Du You didn’t consider them to be of the same species at all. To him, these Giants were no different from Magical Beasts.
No matter how many he killed, Du You wouldn’t feel any psychological discomfort.
"This tribe is small, with only one tier-three Giant; the others are tier-two and tier-one. Leave them to me," Du You said while unleashing a Dark Flame Arrow Array towards the ground below.
After receiving a boost, nearly a thousand black arrows descended from the sky, instantly engulfing most of the tribe. The tier-one Giants had no ability to resist and were killed in a single move.
The tier-two Giants could resist briefly, but after being turned into hedgehogs by the massive number of arrows, they still couldn’t survive.
What Du You didn’t expect was that the apparent leader, the tier-three Giant, actually withstood the attack. Over a dozen black arrows burning with flames were lodged in the Giant’s body, the fire constantly widening the wounds. Yet somehow, the Giant endured and even picked up a stone to throw at Du You.
The stone was wrapped in flames, which must have been part of the Giant’s abilities.
Without needing Du You to take action, Lin Yushi casually shot an arrow that broke the stone like thunder and lightning, causing it to shatter and fall.
"How could it not be dead? How is that possible?" Du You looked at the frenzied Flame Giant in disbelief. His Dark Flame Arrow Array might be a large-area skill with weaker single-target damage, but it had reached tier four after all.
Although the attack was dispersed, a fair number of arrows had struck the Giant. Yet, Du You hadn’t expected that the arrows would only penetrate the skin of the Giant, likely reaching the flesh and possibly even the organs, but it had somehow not died.
Far from being significantly weakened, the Giant was still bouncing around energetically and even managed to counterattack.
"It might be because their magic resistance against fire is too high, Master. Although your attacks are of the Dark Attribute, most of them are actually flames of the Dark Attribute, which technically counts as a type of fire attack," Lin Yucha suggested.
Hearing Lin Yucha’s words, Du You nodded in agreement. It was indeed true.
His attacks, owing to the Soul Devouring Demon Flame skill, mostly carried the burning property. Dark flames would typically enhance the lethality, but that wasn’t the case against these Flame Giants.
Fire attacks were ineffective against Giants with high fire resistance. And unfortunately, his Soul Devouring Demon Flame was only at level 30 and had not been advanced, making its additional damage even lower.
Pure Dark Attribute attacks were difficult to defend against, but often didn’t result in very high damage. It seemed his abilities were being countered by these Flame Giants.
"It looks like I need to do some proper experimenting," Du You said, not in a hurry to kill off these Giants, but starting to test slowly instead. After experimenting, Du You discovered that various skills using dark flames didn’t work very well.
Even his Destruction Flames, although reduced in effectiveness, were still potent enough to easily take out the average Flame Giant due to the high damage.
Other skills, however, proved to be very effective. For instance, his Energy Gathering Magic Cannon, even when its power was reduced, could easily pierce a Flame Giant of the same tier without any additional fire damage.
However, the corrosive effect of the Dark Swamp wasn’t as effective on Giants because of their strong resistance to foreign damage. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✶𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✶𝓷𝓮𝓽
After testing the Soul Pierce skill, Du You found that the Giants weren’t particularly resistant to soul skills. "All that size for nothing," was Du You’s assessment of the Giants.
Soul skills could easily annihilate Giants, which was good news for Du You.
Last but not least was his Disintegration Spell, a very powerful skill. Giants at the same tier, once hit, would at least partially disintegrate. After calculating, Du You knew that he would stand on invincible ground even against tier-four Flame Giants. If he encountered tier-five, however, he would certainly not be a match.
The Disintegration Spell was ineffective against Giants above his own tier. This was because Giants had decent magic resistance; it only seemed weaker relative to his own attacks.
"If you summon Dark Elves, Master, your killing power should be stronger, right?"
Du You nodded, "It would add some strength, but it would primarily just negate the fire resistance." He wasn’t in a rush; he had plenty of tier-four skills to handle any situation and was not worried at all.
As for the sisters, there was no issue of negating. While the Giants had strong defenses indeed, it wasn’t at an overwhelming level. Against the ordinary Giants, the Heavenly Disaster Demonic Dogs should be highly effective. Unfortunately, there were too many Professionals here, and Du You didn’t want to reveal too much. Unless absolutely necessary, he would not resort to the Heavenly Disaster Demonic Dogs.
"Seriously, even for a small tribe, to only offer such measly stuff," Du You said, looking at the items in his hand and reluctantly storing them away. It was nothing more than a green chest.
Whether it was green Crystal Coins or green equipment, Du You didn’t need them now. He would see if he could exchange for something he needed in the market when he got back. For green equipment, at least exchanging for some skills or blueprints was possible.
Having stored the items, the group continued flying forward. Along the way, they encountered various Giants’ settlements, both big and small. After one experiment, Du You became even more certain of what was needed to deal with Giants. Thus, the journey continued without a hitch, and Giants lacking special abilities were no match for Du You’s powerful aerial strikes.
Giants had decent attacks for throwing objects in the air, but they couldn’t keep up with Xiaozi’s speed, so the Giants’ attacks posed no threat to Du You. Otherwise, Du You wouldn’t have been able to slaughter his way through so effortlessly.
