Chapter 882: Chapter 882
Although they had to return all the way back, it wasn’t a direct flight, as they were now at the border of the Barbarian Kingdom. Therefore, as Du You and the others flew, they would still check out any signs of a large tribe they came across.
These large tribes were likely to have the advanced materials they needed.
However, for reasons unknown, whether it was because the tribes were too small or something else, Du You had yet to find anything worthwhile on this journey.
"There’s a large tribe ahead, should we check it out?" Lin Yucha asked Du You.
"Check it out, of course," Du You replied, visibly annoyed. But there was no helping it; advancing skills demanded such efforts. Having his own territory and Skill Hall, not needing to queue up with others, he was already very fortunate.
For others without territories, who knew how long they would have to wait for a chance to advance a single skill.
Even when it was finally their turn, the evolution process took a long time. The resources for evolution weren’t provided for one person alone, but many people evolving simultaneously extended the individual time considerably. Content orıginally comes from 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✶𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮✶𝓷𝓮𝓽
"Strange, why are there so few people in this tribe? Where has everyone gone?"
An elder nearby looked up and said, "Young adventurer, why are you still here? Everyone else has gone to the trial grounds to the east. It’s said that a black entity appeared there, and some say it’s an Elemental Elf."
"Elemental Elf? How could such a thing exist?" Du You surely knew what an Elemental Elf was.
Broadly speaking, in different worlds, the scope of Elemental Elves is vast. Typically, however, at the very least, Elemental Elves are creatures composed of elements and should possess some intelligence.
As for the Elemental Elves of this world, whether they take the form of small elves was uncertain. The conditions for their manifestation were manifold; one discrepancy could lead to the evolution of unique creatures.
"I assure you, lad, what they speak of is indeed an Elemental Elf. It’s about this big, human-like, pitch black all over, and it can fly," the elder said, gesturing a small distance with his fingers.
Such a sizable dark Elemental Elf, humanoid and black, would most likely be of the Dark Attribute.
Elemental Elves were valuable; if one became a pet, it could become a powerful aid to a mage as it grew stronger. Even if it couldn’t become a pet, an Elemental Elf was still excellent material.
What was uncertain was the type of this Elemental Elf. Not all Elemental Elves were useful, but generally, they served significant purposes. If nothing else, it could become Elsa’s pet or be sold.
"Perhaps, we could take a look too," Du You scanned the camp, suspecting that it probably didn’t have what he was looking for. Unlike Grey Elves, Beastmen’s most important items were likely various weapons and equipment, which now were probably taken away. Thus, Du You decided to take the two sisters to the trial grounds in the east.
"That’s a good idea." Neither of them objected, as they were both interested in Elemental Elves.
"I can’t believe there are really Elemental Elves in this world; I’ve always thought the elves’ tales of hoarding Elemental Elves were but legends," Elsa said with a curious expression.
"It’s probably a legend among the Beastmen, don’t you think? What do you think would happen if the shamans caught an elf?"
Elsa thought for a moment, and with a disheartened expression, she said, "They’d probably sacrifice it or turn it into something like a Totem. We should hurry, so other shamans don’t catch it first, okay?"
Du You nodded, then quickly led the group away from the tribal camp.
Elemental Elves were indeed of little use to Beastman Warriors, who only sought them out fervently for the shamans’ purposes. Shamans held a very high status among the Beastmen.
The trio flew towards the trial ground in the east, a place that seemed to be a mix of Chaotic Stone Hill and forest. Upon entering, visibility dropped to nothing due to the overwhelming number of Beastmen.
There were some fourth-tier Magical Beasts deeper within the forest, but given the abundance of Beastmen, these beasts weren’t foolish enough to show themselves. Even if they could take down a few Beastmen, the more powerful among them would not spare them.
"Let’s head this way; I’ll try to sense the elemental aura," Du You said, starting to attune to his surroundings. If it was of the dark type, then the area where it was located should have a denser dark element.
Du You also saw other shamans along the way, but they merely glanced at each other with no intent to communicate. In this place, everyone was a rival, and clashes were not out of the question.
If any camaraderie developed, it would be difficult to take action later on.
"Another one’s here. Let’s find it quickly, or the chances will grow even slimmer," a Beastman muttered as he saw Du You and his companions approaching. They could sense that the newcomers were not weak.
"That young child not yet of age has the aura of a third-tier—truly frightening."
For them, a third-tier was already considered quite a skilled Warrior, and as for those adults, they were likely even stronger, possibly even fourth-tier. Such beings represented the pinnacle of power in the entire Barbarian Kingdom.
As for the existence of fifth-tiers, not even the Beastmen themselves knew, though they believed they existed.
"Master, have you sensed anything?" Lin Yushi followed the group as they ventured deeper, asking the question.
"There is a slight sensation; indeed, the dark element here in the trial ground is denser. A large concentration of elements is a prerequisite for the formation of Element Creatures, so what they say could be true," Du You responded.
He couldn’t fully trust what others said since he hadn’t seen for himself.
Yet, facing an opportunity, he couldn’t give up no matter what. "This way; I feel the dark element is denser here, but there’s a mix of something else," Du You suddenly pointed out a direction.
The group hurriedly shifted and ran towards the direction Du You had sensed. As they went deeper into the Dense Forest, the Beastmen around them thinned out, making movement much easier.
Within minutes, Du You and his companions arrived at a relatively flat clearing. The ground was littered with rubble, but at the center stood a large stone, resembling a platform.
"It’s not an Elemental Elf; it turns out to be an ancient ritual site."
Lin Yucha pointed to the platform, which bore traces likely left by ancient blood—and plenty of it. Scattered around the platform lay numerous skeletons, explaining the concentration of the dark element.
