Chapter 764: Chapter 764
The distance was closing rapidly, one thousand meters, nine hundred meters, eight hundred meters... the two spacecrafts were chasing each other. Their attacks were ineffective if the gap was too wide, as these were not interstellar craft after all.
These patrol ships were designed for within-planet combat and could be characterized as close combat ones.
Du You watched and calculated simultaneously, his maximum attack range was not five hundred meters; yet, five hundred meters was the ideal range. Attacks at a greater span would be ineffective.
Du You resisted the urge to attack immediately. His level 25 spiritual perception could sense everything within a radius of two hundred and fifty meters clearly. Five hundred meters, though exceeding this radius, would make his magic attack slightly less precise. However, that wouldn’t matter for a target of this size.
"Quickly, we’re nearing the attack range," the commander hollered. Du You nodded but did not turn around.
They were approaching five hundred meters, but the range was not a hard criterion. Du You was not using technological weaponry after all.
Du You lifted his fingers, and three energy gathering rings formed in quick succession. The immense dark element was starting to gather. As it was the dark element, there was no heat, nor any so-called energy radiation.
Therefore, their monitor wouldn’t pick up any danger unless they looked directly.
Three seconds passed in the blink of an eye. The enemy had also descended within the five hundred meter radius. Both crafts’ defensive barriers had diminished to the extreme. Seeing their side dominating the battle, the commander at the rear was unable to hide his excitement.
But at that moment, a black light beam suddenly sprang from the ground below, splitting everything in its path like a razor-sharp sword. The defensive shield, already weakened considerably, was pierced instantly under the pillar of black light.
The barrier provided much less defence once breached and was now shrouded in shadow. The black pillar hit the side of the ship hard, though it missed the energy chamber, it struck right next to the command center.
The crew inside the command center watched in horror as a hole was blown through the door next to them, grazing the edge and leaving a gaping wound on the ship. The surface blood mist, providing no defence against the blow, was torn apart. A chunk of flesh was immediately blown apart, revealing heavily distorted metal construction underneath.
"This is bad, the energy barrier is about to collapse, retreat quickly."
They finally understood the enemy’s intent. The enemy aimed to lure them down and let their powerful superpower man attack.
Pitifully, they only realised their mistake just now. The warship hurriedly turned around. Seizing the opportunity, the spaceship struck them hard with continuous attacks. When the enemy ship was reversing direction, their energy barrier finally shattered.
The flesh warship, ignoring everything, tried to speed away from the battlefield at full speed. At that moment, Du You’s attack arrived again. Another Energy Gathering Magic Cannon ripped through a piece of flesh on the warship.
The attack sent out by Du You was even stronger than the main cannon of the patrol ship, surprising everyone.
"A pity, it was slightly off target." He was very close to hitting the enemy’s energy chamber this time, which would have kept the enemy at bay. Unfortunately, he narrowly missed, and the enemy’s speed increased dramatically as a result.
Before Du You could prepare for the third attack, the enemy was already accelerating desperately. Even the warship behind only posed several attacks before letting the enemy escape. Pursuing between warships was challenging to exterminate the other party in a short while. If they chased the enemy to their base, the situation would be reversed.
The warship did not leave. Instead, it released numerous warplanes. With the collaboration of the warplanes, the warship began to clean up the enemy’s reinforcements. Those who failed to escape were eliminated one after another, and the battle ended quickly.
As the warship descended slowly, cheers broke out. The feeling of escaping death caused everyone to break out in a cold sweat, but it also brought unprecedented excitement. It was indeed an extraordinary life experience.
Du You ignored them and opened his panel. They had won the war. The advanced mission could be completed at any time. The progress had also spiked dramatically.
The fact that he had destroyed a fourth-tier warship singlehandedly and aided in repulsing another one had scored him a pattern. His stellar rating had reached eight stars, nine stars seemed not far away.
However, in the next step, such a large-scale victory might not be that easy to come by.
"Du You, come up Du You, you’ve made a great contribution. Let’s go back, the celebration feast is ready."
On the No. 66 asteroid, such a great feat had not been achieved in more than a decade. It was indeed a moment worth celebrating that Du You could accomplish such a great task singlehandedly.
Du You shut down the panel and gestured to the two sisters, "Let’s go back. With this contribution, our next plan will proceed much easier."
The two sisters nodded subtly. They knew what their mission was, and could clearly see the progress towards its completion.
A group of people got on the spaceship, those wounded but not killed were hauled back with stretchers. With the current level of technology, there was no possibility of disability. Either the limbs were regenerated, or they were replaced with metal substitutes. In short, as long as they didn’t die on the spot, they could be saved.
They captured sixteen of the enemy’s natural persons, losing four on their side. But all four were superpower men and cyborgs. Frankly, it was hard to say whether we profited or lost. The source of this content ɪs 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝※𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖※𝕟𝕖𝕥
But in the local battlefield, they had destroyed an enemy patrol warship and severely damaged a second one. On their end, there was just a minor energy consumption, making it a grand victory. Du You, who initiated everything, became the center of attention.
Basking in the compliments of the crowd, the spaceship returned to the base in no time. The base looked sci-fi, with pastoral landscapes to the rear where lots of robots were farming.
By the time Du You’s party arrived, the banquet was ready. Colonel Hade, the commander at the base, raised his glass high, "We have won a remarkable victory on the No. 66 asteroid this time, this has paved the way for our upcoming advance. We’re going to gain a lot more territory, let’s cheer for our hero."
Everyone cheered, pulling their hats off and throwing them in the air. The scene was incredibly lively. Around Du You, many people gathered, some buttering him up, others wanting to get to know this newcomer. It was the liveliest spot at the party.
