Chapter 607: Chapter 607

As for some matters concerning the Snow Emperor Mountain Range, it’s not just Zhuolin who is unaware, even if one were to search amongst all its inhabitants, there would hardly be anyone who knew details. They only knew that the Snow Emperor was their ancestor.

As to whether this so-called ancestor was self-aggrandizing or something else, they were completely clueless.

The Snow Emperor’s reign over the entire world was thousands of years ago, and subsequent generations have always been seeking the treasure he left behind. Yet, no one has ever found it. Instead, those who ventured into the mountains in search of treasure seldom came back alive. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵※𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾※𝙣𝙚𝙩

As time went on, fewer and fewer people dared to venture. However, every once in a while, there would still be some who tried.

Through careful consideration and speculation, Du You guessed that there had been a considerable number of people entering the Snow Emperor Mountain Range in the last couple of hundred years. However, he believed these people were professionals, not indigenes of this world.

Even so, they were unable to find the so-called treasure and suffered significant casualties, so now very few people attempt to enter.

There is a special power protecting the vicinity of the Snow Emperor Mountain Range. It’s said that the stronger the individual entering, the greater the danger they will encounter. The more powerful the person venturing in, the less likely they are to come out.

But the advancement task he had now received was precisely this. Du You had no choice but to undertake it. On the other hand, if the task was too easy, Du You was unsure of whether he could maintain his 10-star status after advancing.

In fact, his greatest advantage was his high star level. As his level increased, Du You found this advantage to be increasingly significant. The prime reason he could fight beyond his level and slay creatures of equivalent levels was the cumulation of star levels, which led to a terrifying qualitative change.

Ultimately, Du You also learned that there weren’t any strong entities in or around the Snow Emperor Mountain Range.

This was because there were no particular benefits for such entities to reside here, and also because they were battling with outsiders. Needless to say, Du You knew that the outsiders were professionals like himself.

Professionals established several cities in this world. For some unknown reasons, conflicts erupted between them and the indigenes of this world. The battles lasted for many years, with the strongest entities of both sides situated there.

"In that case, we don’t have to worry about unexpected external forces during our mission."

When Zhuolin left, Du You and his two sisters started to strategize.

"Let’s set off tomorrow. Prepare everything necessary. I want to see if this mountain range is as dangerous as they all say."

Once Du You set his mind on something, his two sisters would never refute. As soon as the mission began, even if they achieved only a modicum of progress, they could give up the mission and leave this world at any time.

Therefore, in their perspective, there was actually no danger. But, every time they withdrew, the degree of task completion required for the next advancement would be higher, in order to maintain the star level.

If one failed too many times, they might even lose the opportunity to advance. There were many people who could never advance in their lifetime, partly due to this reason. So, most people who could advance chose to get it over with in one shot.

On the next day, after checking out of their room, Du You led his two sisters into the Snow Mountain. There were still many people exploring around its periphery, whether for hunting or other activities. After all, it wasn’t a saying for nothing that one survives by the fruits of one’s surroundings.

Du You paid no heed to the people here. There weren’t many professionals around. When they delved deeper, soon there was no one else to be seen. "I wonder what kind of structure this place has. I’ve heard that avalanches are rare in these mountains, no matter how they are disturbed."

Reflecting on the information he had, Du You was confident that he wouldn’t cause any trouble by creating noise.

"Master, look quick, something’s emerging." Suddenly, Lin Yushi pointed ahead.

The heap of snow in front got pushed away by something, and figures started to rise from beneath the snow. Their fur was as white as the snow, and at first, Du You mistook them for snow monsters. But later, upon closer examination, he realized they appeared to be upright walking wolves. Their eyes were all white, and they emitted bursts of icy coldness.

"They don’t seem like normal creatures," Du You commented quietly.

Snow Mountain Wolf Monsters: Level 12

These monsters Du You had seen had reached second-tier, which posed a bit of a challenge to Du You. "Let’s make quick work of these. Perhaps we have already entered the territory of the Ice Snow Crown." Their group had always been headed in this direction.

"Don’t worry, master. These garbage won’t hinder our progress," Lin Yushi said disdainfully. She released an Explosive Scatter Shot. To deal with these relatively weak creatures, even Lin Yushi could suppress or slaughter them directly using just her skill set.

Dozens of Arrow Shadows lit with thunder and lightning flew across, changing the face of everything ahead. Almost half of the just-awakened wolf monsters were killed, and the rest were all injured and appeared to be on the brink of death.

Du You didn’t have to lift a finger. Lin Yushi unleashed another Explosive Scatter Shot, wiping out the remaining wolf monsters.

"These aren’t natural creatures, not native to this place. It’s quite likely they’re the monsters people usually encounter while looking for the treasure. As we’re in the second tier, the regular monsters that appear might be of the second tier as well," Du You said, observing the rapidly melting wolf monster corpses. Once the wolf monsters died, their bodies didn’t stay put but melted away bit by bit, eventually blending completely with the surrounding snow. It’s quite possible that the wolf monsters were formed from the snow in the first place.

This might be the power of the Ice Snow Crown, or it may be some form of natural phenomenon. Du You couldn’t affirm whether these were element creatures or magically created beings, but he was confident they were going in the correct direction.

Du You waved his hand and summoned all his beasts, asking them to stand guard as they continued their journey. Not long after they resumed their journey, the ground blew up again, revealing even more Snow Mountain Wolf Monsters.

Just as Du You had thought, these wolf monsters were indeed there to prevent others from getting close to the central Snow Mountain. On his console, Du You’s mission status had changed to complete and was now ready for submission. He now had the choice to give up the mission and leave this world or advance based on the current progress rate.

Of course, advancing at his current rate would leave Du You with only three stars status after advancement.

For a high star level, continuous hunting is necessary. As for whether to complete the final task, who knows? All along the way, they encountered dangerous monsters, but they effortlessly crushed them relying solely on their summoned beasts.
