Chapter 472: Chapter 472
Du You’s arrival did not go unnoticed by the opposition. Du You’s reputation wasn’t just outside – it had made its rounds among the freshmen in the War God Academy as well.
Even before reaching, the other party had already detected Du You’s approach. Both parties had numerous means of scouting at their disposal, and fooling each other was no easy task.
"Not good, Du You has appeared again, our front line could be in danger," said a worried voice. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⟡𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦⟡𝘯𝘦𝘵
In the rear command center, Du You’s arrival was promptly detected, instantly filling everyone with anxiety.
"Damn it, shoot them down! The last flying legion wasn’t enough, increase their number this time," someone ordered.
"That wouldn’t work. The flying legion from Capital University is here. Their flying legion is no worse than ours. If we divide our troops now, it’s likely we’ll lose," rebutted someone immediately.
"So, what’s your plan? Are you saying we just sit and wait for that bastard to cause chaos?" was the frustrated response.
"Wait, he seems to have descended before reaching the front line. I believe he’s worried about our airborne divisions intercepting him, considering he’s not really an airborne professional."
At that moment, someone noticed that Du You had descended, indicating his reluctance to fight in the air. In fact, if Du You was grounded, his combat power would greatly amplify, making him more formidable.
"He descended, did he? Notify Square Five to go over there. Leave Du You to him. If he succeeds, I’ll accept his terms. If he fails, he knows the repercussions," gave the commanding officer, whose orders were instantly dispatched, making everyone else shift focus to other tasks.
Meanwhile, at the War God Academy front line, the news of Du You’s arrival was received, perplexing many.
"That guy has come. We’re in trouble now. What should we do?"
Everyone was fretting. Although others had wide-ranging magic capabilities, it was only Du You who possessed such extremely lethal power. The Destruction Flames released by him could instantly kill most freshmen.
Others’ wide-ranging magic was certainly dangerous but not to the instant-killing extent as Du You. Those terrifying fireballs could be quite challenging to block directly, even for the strongest among them.
"It seems we can’t hide anymore. We originally wanted to surprise them, let’s bring it out now."
"What surprise? What have you prepared?" asked a clueless frontline commander.
The previous man promptly replied, "It’s the Jinghong Crossbow Cannon. Our maker painstakingly sourced local materials to restore a Jinghong Crossbow Cannon. It was supposed to serve as a last resort."
"What? We have a Jinghong Crossbow Cannon now? Even if it’s depleted, I guess no one could withstand it, right?"
"Indeed, that’s the one. Hurry up, bring it out now. That bastard is approaching fast. If we’re late, it will be over," someone urged.
Amidst their discussion, some were already working on it. A giant crossbow, covered in runes, was rolled out. Resting on a massive metal bracket, the crossbow could freely change direction. There’s almost no blind spot, except underneath.
As soon as the crossbow was rolled out, Du You had arrived at the battlefield. Seeing Du You, many erupted in cheers.
"Stop the chatter. We know your spell is potent. Give it a go. If we continue this way and our side collapses, we can say goodbye to the next battle," said the commander to Du You. He didn’t intend to have Du You kill many from the opposition – just disrupt their formation. Killing so many was clearly impossible.
They were not natives with single-function strategies but professionals with many powerful abilities. Those admitted to Capital University were true elites, except for a few locals.
Du You’s star level was high enough but not sufficient to overlook professionals of the same level.
Nodding, Du You readily agreed. After confirming Lin Yucha and Lin Yushi were safe, Du You eased down. He waved his hand in the air and chanted a spell, forming a colossal Magic Array.
"Quick, it’s there. In that direction. Aim the Jinghong Crossbow Cannon."
A group of mechanics adjusted the crossbow’s aim to the Magic Array in the air. Ten seconds of preparation time was not long. Right as they adjusted the aim, a massive fireball emerged from the array.
The blazing black fireball radiated a searing heat, causing everyone nearby to feel their skin burning.
The targets, the warriors of War God Academy, watched the skies anxiously, causing a stir in the formation.
Just then, a red glow shot up from the fortress on the opposite side. Like a rebellion against the tide, it shot through the black fireball in the sky in an instant. The fireball exploded in mid-air, scattering flames.
Ultimately, only a few flames fell to the ground, forming Destruction Evil Dogs, which were immediately killed by nearby warriors.
Du You looked surprised, "What was that? How could they intercept my fireball?"
Du You was puzzled. In his mind, only those who had reached at least Level 17 and possessed high star level powerful attack magic could intercept his fireball. These were freshmen. Satisfying their skill requirements and reaching Level 14 was the tops. They shouldn’t possibly be able to intercept his Destruction Flames.
"It’s the effect of the weapon, likely a large machine of a mechanic. Didn’t think they’d have something . Du You, keep attacking, and don’t let them aim that weapon at our side," the commander said.
Hearing this, Du You nodded, "Don’t worry, I’ll handle that."
As he spoke, he alerted Lin Yucha and Lin Yushi, asking them to retreat – ostensibly under his protection, but he was wary of the opposition pulling another trick. As a university, who knew what they were capable of.
Another Magic Array was formed and another fireball emerged. Inside the fortress, the mechanics were busy prepping a new crossbow arrow. It quickly installed and aimed at where the fireball was.
It was almost a rerun – the fireball formed and before it could fall, a red glow shot up, smashing the fireball. Undeterred, Du You continued to cast Destruction Flames, while the opposition kept aiming at the Magic Array in the sky. They seemed to have reached a deadlock. Frequent explosions in the sky were making the fights below sluggish.
