Chapter 431: Chapter 431

Once the decision was made, Du You set out for the predetermined location. Although he only had one Dark Element Stone in his hand, he didn’t plan to use it on this, it was reserved for the Holy Light Arrow Array.

Without the Dark Element Stone, the transformation of the Holy Light Arrow Array required too much consumption. On the other hand, other kinds of skills consumed less without a Dark Element Stone.

Du You didn’t have much time to slowly collect Dark Element Stones. He agreed it was a waste to use it for transformation now, but it could boost his power in the shortest time. As long as he was powerful enough, he could earn back any amount of Crystal Coins.

Lin Yushi and Lin Yucha, the two sisters, had no objections to Du You’s decision. The next day, the three of them headed to the location marked on the map, which was deep inside the Partition Plain.

Due to the special swamp they had to go through on the far west of the Partition Plain where the density of demons wasn’t any higher than the rest of the Plain. As long as they were careful, they could reach it.

Du You chose a route from the Barren Slope on the far west, covered with scattered stones. There were numerous trees, though none were tall, and the vegetation was sparse. After the Demon Calamity, the place was even more barren.

On the upside, the vegetation could provide them some cover. The demons generally were summoned by higher-level demons to the Partition Plain, leaving the Barren Slope relatively demon-free.

As for the swamp, Du You had gathered enough information about it when he approached.

"Heh, this time no one’s following us," Du You said, after stealthily deploying the Death Scorpion underground to check on any possible followers, but found nothing.

"Any person that can make it here isn’t easy to deal with. They would not carelessly track and kill others; they wouldn’t survive long if they did," Lin Yucha whispered.

Du You nodded in agreement. Yeah, those people that pounce on any opportunities—they cannot live long in such a place.

Anyone who could survive in such a dangerous place was either very powerful or very shrewd. Stealing from these people once or twice might be manageable, but any more times would most certainly reveal their actions, leading them straight to doom.

Since no one was following them, they should move as fast as they can.

Lin Yucha and Lin Yushi were both archers and were naturally very fast. Du You himself was physically capable, and with the boost from his equipment, they were almost as fast as the Heavenly Disaster Demonic Dogs, even though they were not riding them.

It took them two days to reach the westernmost part of Partition Plain, and then a whole day of walking. They had to constantly stop and go because of the demons along the way. Although the density wasn’t as high as the Partition Plain, there was still a substantial number.

For every step they advanced, they had no idea how many demons they had to kill. Du You had lost count of the number of demons he had slain. He could even feel the faint murderous aura emitted from his body. He used to think it was a myth, but now he believed in its existence.

It was just a shame that Du You didn’t know how to use this murderous aura. He found that it didn’t possess the legendary abilities many had claimed.

As for those who claimed they could use the aura to influence others—what a joke. Perhaps it would work on ordinary people, but against other Professionals, their aura might even be stronger.

"We’re almost there," said Du You, who noticed the decrease in the density of demons as dusk was approaching.

Even other demons were reluctant to approach the special Demonic Swamp. Besides the discomfort caused by the power attribute, the area had been stripped clean by pollution, leaving the demons with no resources.

"Legend has it that this swamp was formed by the polluting blood of a powerful demon that was slain here," Lin Yushi pointed ahead as she remarked.

Du You rolled his eyes. "Legends are typically exaggerated, one. A demon powerful enough to pollute such a large area with its blood would have to be at least a tier-four, but such demons do not exist in this world."

The actual situation was inevitably different from the legend, if not entirely inaccurate. It was plausible that the area was polluted by the demons, but to say it was polluted by the blood of a single dead demon was a load of bull.

Feeling embarrassed, Lin Yushi stuck out her tongue. The legends were always remarkably detailed, and most people would tend to believe them without giving it much thought. She also realized that she might have misunderstood something.

The group gradually approached the area ahead, which was completely dark, almost like a patch of ground covered with oil.

Even from a distance, they could smell a strange, putrid scent mixed with blood and rot. The most significant element was the demon power that was unfelt by ordinary humans but was corroding everything around.

All the plants around were demonized; those that weren’t, were already dead. The only things left on the ground were some skeletal remains and rocks. There weren’t many demons either, making the area surprisingly clean.

However, the few demons that managed to survive here were not weak. They were all at least tier-two.

"It seems we’ll need to clear some space first before carrying out the transformation," said Du You, sensing the power around and smiling contentedly. This place was indeed a great place to transform his skills.

But just as he took a few steps forward, a white ring of light suddenly surrounded him. The next moment, the ring shattered, and Du You instinctively cast the Shield Spell to fend off an attack.

In front of him, a shadow flashed by. If not for the sudden emergence of the shield, Du You would have thought that nothing had happened. Follow current novᴇls on 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡⁂𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢⁂𝘯𝘦𝘵

A Protective Cross on his body fractured into dust, slowly scattering.

Protective Cross: Blocks one fatal attack, maximum capacity 10+10 (White, 1/2)

It was this Protective Cross that had activated the shield. This was prepared for his previous advancement mission but surprisingly came in handy now.

If not for its sudden activation, Du You would not have been able to react to the enemy’s speed in time. If it had hit him directly, even if he survived, he would have been gravely injured; an injury in such a place would be extremely dangerous.

"Damn it, what the heck is that? Why is it so fast?"

"Master, it’s a Blade Demon, but it must be a mutation. Normal Blade Demons are not this fast," said Lin Yucha, pointing at a shadow in the distance. Upon closer inspection, a shadow could indeed be seen in the forest. The black figure had four arms that had mutated into blades, shimmering with a sharp light. It blended in with the shadows and was hard to spot.
