Chapter 382: Chapter 382

"The fire’s out of control! Hurry and put it out!" Some spotted the raging fire and sprinted towards the well to fetch water for extinguishing.

However, others sensed something awry, "Such a fierce blaze, it’s suspicious. We’re under attack."

"Look at the sky! Someone’s starting a fire from above. Where’s our Flying Team? They need to come soon."

A far-off general spotted the airborne enemy and in fury, sent signals for help. Unknown to him, though, Du You had already decimated their Flying Team. The rıghtful source is 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹·𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲·𝗻𝗲𝘁

"Shoot him down, Beastmen don’t fold that easily!"

Sensing Du You swooping down, some beastmen began to react. They hurled arrows, javelins, even axes at him. Unfortunately, Du You was flying too high and too fast. Their attacks posed no threat to him. Instead, their thrown weapons fell back onto them, injuring many of their own side.

"Keep away from the flames, they’re poisonous!" Finally, someone noticed something was off about the fire.

Looking at the chaos beneath, Du You felt elated. "If they would keep up this disorder, I could destroy them all tonight. It’s a pity I’m running low on Magic Power."

A large city was impossible for Du You to overrun with his limited Magic Power. Perhaps he could manage if there were no forces resisting from within, but it was unlikely.

As Du You anticipated, a group of Beastman priests soon emerged.

Seeing the widespread fire and toxic gases, the priests’ expressions twisted in disgust.

"Prepare to fight, we need to suppress the toxins and fire," the priests declared.

Priests from different regions had different skills, but their casting methods were similar and equally uncanny. Chanting their incantations, their words echoed in the night air.

A yellow fog slowly spread; Du You discovered that his toxins were ineffective where the fog blanketed.

Next, the flames on his mucus gradually weakened. Some of the mucus even dissipated quickly, indicating soon his influence would be eradicated.

However, Du You was unconcerned. His mucus explosions were rapid, and those who were glued would be poisoned and die within a short period, leaving no time for rescue.

Even with the priests’ help, the situation could only be mitigated. They won’t be able to catch him.

Beastman priests were not adept at offense, only support, so they could do nothing but watch as Du You wreaked havoc from above. If it were not for the strong powers of the priests, Du You might have taken them down first.

"Doesn’t matter if I can’t deal with them now, according to the current state, they would all perish in five days at most." Du You estimated privately.

Now, he just had to complete his task and the rest could wait. This was a hard-earned opportunity to accomplish an advanced quest; having made few gains throughout the mission, he did not wish to start over.

As Du You kept swooping down, he unleashed copious amounts of mucus each time. The beastmen below were either poisoned or burned by fire which ignited the mucus. By the time the flames were extinguished, everyone would be dead.

Thanks to Du You’s attacks, the entire Beastman town had sunk into utter chaos.

Such an event was bound to reach the ears of the Border City upper class soon. But now Du You flew freely in the sky. Did Border City even have authority over him anymore?

In mid-air, Du You and Xiaozi coordinated their efforts continuously. While one released mucus, the other launched Thunder Light Orb attacks at the stronger enemies, or helped ignite the mucus. The entire Beastman city succumbed to chaos within minutes.

Du You had no tally of how many beastmen he killed, but even slaughtering these low-tier beastmen, he managed to accumulate quite a number of Crystal Coins in his personal space. He reckoned he would gather a profuse quantity of Crystal Coins by the end of this.

What a pity, after breaking through to the tier-two, Crystal Coins became less useful to him. At least, Du You himself didn’t know what uses tier-two hunters still had for Crystal Coins.

As Du You was launching his grand attack, down below in a corner, a special contraption quietly aimed at him.

About ten minutes attacking the Beastman city, Du You abruptly felt a surge of danger. The threat came suddenly and mysteriously. Du You instinctively paused midway in his attack.

Thoughts raced through his mind, and a purple barrier sprang up beneath Xiaozi, wholly protecting both Xiaozi and himself. At the same time, a red beam shot straight at him.

The beam was incredibly strong and instantly perforated his barrier. Then the red light continued its assault upwards, tearing through one of Xiaozi’s wings. Fortunately, the intensity of the attack had lessened; otherwise, it would have caused more than mere perforation.

The searing ray rushed past Du You, and he felt as though his skin was being scorched.

The red light was probably Fire attribute. Xiaozi’s wing now had blackened scorch marks. If the attack had not weakened considerably, Xiaozi’s wing would have been burnt off, and Du You would have fallen.

"Damn it. The Beastman city has such means. Xiaozi, let’s go."

Xiaozi radiated anger and grief, still eager to continue the fight, but Du You knew Xiaozi’s condition did not permit lengthy or rapid flying.

If he continued to fight here, he might lose his life.

Xiaozi had no choice but to obey Du You, regardless of her grievances. She winged towards the periphery of the city. As Du You anticipated, Xiaozi’s speed had been severely affected.

"Quickly, pursue them. Don’t let the human escape." Seeing Du You exit the city, the upper class of the Beastman City instantly roared out. Moments later, several teams were dispatched to pursue Du You.

An airborne enemy must not be left at large.

"Where’s our Flying Team? Weren’t they supposed to reach in three minutes?"

"General, the Flying Team’s base was attacked. We only found corpses in the area, we’re unable to contact them currently." Finally, the communication officer rushed over to report the status.
