Chapter 341: Chapter 341
Simultaneously, ships on both sides of the island began to head north. Countless white-skinned warriors boarded the ships with their weapons, which were nothing more than spears and axes, lacking any conventional arms.
They even lacked long-range weapons such as bows and arrows; their only ranged offensive capability was throwing their long spears.
Due to the short travel distance, sails were not an option. Only giant wheels affixed to both sides of the large ships, underneath which were pedals that required manpower to rotate, forming the propulsion system for the vessels.
Without the help of Zhao Han, their resident Maker, creating such a paddle system in such a short time would have been impossible. When the large ships started moving, the students left behind on the beach also began to mobilize.
Although they were not involved in causing destruction behind enemy lines, they had their roles to play. Some blended in with the white folk, dashing towards the north. Others stayed behind to handle logistics.
The weapons held by the front lines of the white-skinned people had evidently become more sophisticated than ever before, thanks to the efforts of the students. The craftsmanship of the island natives was not advanced enough to produce such refined weapons.
"We should split up too. I will take a team and go around the back. You can handle the connection portal."
"Don’t worry. Handling a single connection portal is not a problem." Upon hearing Zhang Yu’s words, Zhao Han’s eyes sparkled, his initially weak demeanor immediately vanished and then restored to normality. When it came to his specialized area, Zhao Han did not hesitate at all.
The great ship advanced, with Zhang Yu sitting atop his own ship, speeding north at max velocity. Zhao Han, on the other hand, commanded two fleets heading towards the central connection portal from both the east and west sides.
As of late, the black-skinned folk guarding the portal had been having a rough time. Continuous disruptions occurred in the rear, resulting in the destruction of their tribes’ gathering spots and even some military camps.
However, when they sent out scouts to investigate, they always came back empty-handed. Sometimes, the scouts were even caught and eliminated by the enemy. Regardless of numbers, the risks were significant, leaving them with no choice but to stay put within the portal.
Every time food and weapons were brought from the rear, they had to assemble a large guard to ensure safe passage.
Lately, they had been hearing about issues in the rear. A powerful whiteling had been cornered in a mountain valley, but they couldn’t do anything about it. Instead, they suffered heavy losses.
If the area wasn’t so vital, with constant disturbances in the vicinity and even the Northern border requesting additional men, they would have sent troops to deal with the situation. Follow current novels on 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭•𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦•𝘯𝘦𝘵
As time went on, the situation in both directions gradually grew more complex and chaos ensued. Unable to send troops north or deal with infiltrators, the battles on multiple fronts began to spin out of their control.
And today, an even bigger problem arose. Their scouts reported back that the whitelings had begun to approach on enormous ships from the sea. They could hardly believe it.
If it wasn’t that their own people held absolute loyalty, they would have suspected these scouts to be imposters. But large ships? Is this even possible? Sure, they had small rafts, which they knew were nothing in comparison, but how could the whitelings possess such colossal vessels?
They had no idea what kind of entity such an enormous ship could be.
Elsewhere, students who had received word about the operation beginning started to mobilize.
"Come on, let’s slip in from behind. We’ll reap even greater benefits this time. I’ve prepared a ton of zombies," said Ghost King as he stood not too far from the location, gazing southwards with a smile.
Tiger King was in agreement, "Well, let’s go. We can’t afford to miss this opportunity."
Li Xian and Dian Hao emerged from their hiding places, foreseeing this as an excellent opportunity.
"Let’s move to the connection portal area and help out," casually suggested Dian Hao, "The sooner we destroy the connection portal and lead the human race across, the quicker we can wipe out the black-skinned people. Thus, our mission will be complete."
Li Xian simply nodded in agreement. "You’re right. We should be quick, though. As warriors, we may not be as effective as mages, but our speed is our greatest advantage. As soon as the ship arrives and the attack commences, that’s our cue to move in." Exchanging a quick glance, they both disappeared.
They had no time to lose, as this opportunity was golden.
Wang Cunfeng, holding a piece of paper in his hand, broke into a smile. "The connection portal, huh? I’ve wanted to head there for quite a while. If it weren’t for the extensive numbers, I would’ve gone alone and let them feel the power of my flames."
Suddenly, Wang Cunfeng turned to Li Mingyuan, "What do you say? Should we go? If you set up a magic array, it could be quite beneficial. I’ll handle the rituals at the connection portal. Just focus on giving it your all."
Wang Cunfeng’s proposal wasn’t out of benevolence, but rather his belief that this assistance could improve his own reputation and earn him higher academic credits. This was a long-term benefit. Good performances could facilitate an easier entry into the student council and higher status. And, of course, Li Mingyuan didn’t mind either.
The more people he kills, the higher his chances of benefiting, even more than Wang Cunfeng. Now it all came down to individual performances.
All three teams unanimously chose to head south towards the connection portal, but the last team had a different course of action in mind.
Baobao, though unsure, eventually suggested, "Let’s head north. The southern area is in chaos. The black-skinned folk up north are sure to react. Xiao You has been surrounded for quite a while now; I think we should go help."
Xi Qianxue looked at Baobao curiously. She hadn’t expected him to be such a good Samaritan. Even people who attended the same school had not contemplated participating in the rescue, but Baobao was already planning on doing so.
After a pause, when Baobao started, "If you don’t want to come along, I’ll go alone-", Xi Qianxue interjected, "Heading north isn’t entirely devoid of benefits. If we seize the opportunity to assassinate the Black-skinned people’s chiefs, the contribution will be far more significant. We’ll go together."
Xi Qianxue was a bit disappointed about dropping the task of assaulting the connection portal, but, considering the plan to come, missing out on this opportunity wasn’t much of an issue. After all, it wasn’t a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing.
"Great, Xi the beauty, let’s get moving. Let’s take advantage of the situation and cover more ground."
