Chapter 205: Chapter 205
There was a group of birds living atop the water tower, who didn’t appear to be carnivorous, otherwise they would have already attacked me, right?
Their levels didn’t seem high, I could take them down easily. However, just when Du You was about to act, a heavy footstep echoed from the direction he arrived from, near the door.
Alert, Du You turned around to find a silhouette running towards him. It wasn’t just anyone, it was Fang Shuo.
Fang Shuo was clad in heavy armor, dust and sweat coating his weary figure. In his hand, he held an executioner’s axe gleaming an eerie red as the light danced across its surface.
Upon seeing Du You, Fang Shuo exclaimed in a vigilant roar, "Who are you? Where is Du You?"
Du You was taken aback. Only then did he realize he was still cloaked in his disguise, covered entirely in a layer of black. Hurriedly, Du You deactivated his disguise, the cloak of shadows fading, revealing his true appearance. Get full chapters from 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝✶𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✶𝕟𝕖𝕥
"It’s me, it’s Lao Er, what’s happened to you? Did you just get into a fight?"
"Lao San, are you really Lao San?"
Du You rolled his eyes, "Duh, who else would I be? Don’t you remember that late night last year when you..."
"Alright, alright, don’t say it out loud, I believe you. How did you end up here?"
Du You paused, confused by Fang Shuo’s question, "Didn’t you tell me to come here? You mentioned you found something useful for me and asked me to come here as soon as possible."
Lao Er widened his eyes, "How did you know I found something useful for you? I just got back from the Derived World. I haven’t notified you yet." Suddenly, Du You sensed that something was off.
"You didn’t notify me? Then who did?" Du You opened his message log.
Lao Er’s expression shifted, "This absolutely wasn’t me. Someone’s impersonating me and left those messages. I’m afraid their intentions aren’t good." Even the dull-witted Lao Er knew something was wrong.
"Then why are you here?"
Without hesitation, Lao Er replied, "I also received a message saying you were in danger and needed my help. I just came out from Derived World and could not find anyone else on short notice, so I had to come myself."
As he spoke, Lao Er opened up his own message log. Du You stared at the records; it definitely wasn’t him who sent these messages.
According to the logged message, he was supposedly out of the city with a team doing a training exercise when trouble arose, and a teammate sent the request for help. What the hell kind of team? He was always alone.
"I’ve always been a lone wolf and rarely team up with others, besides this is my first time coming out here. I suspect someone wants to set us up."
Du you frowned. He pondered over if it was a trap set up specifically for him. Because even his own family can’t find him, let alone anyone else, he only had a few friends.
Lao Er’s circumstances were similar. Yet, he wasn’t sure whether the principal target was him, Lao Er, or both of them. Who could they have possibly offended?
"Hahaha, you’ve finally arrived." Before they knew it, a man in black appeared at the factory’s entrance.
Around him, a crowd of people dressed in black skin-tight suits and black cloth strips that covered them tightly, stepped out, forming an encirclement around them. None of these people spoke or showed any emotions.
This emotionless stare made Du You feel as if they were staring at an undead creature. If not for their movements and the aura they emitted, Du You would’ve mistaken them as the undead.
"Who’s sneaking around? Who are you really and why did you bring us here?"
Lao Er wasn’t as lenient, gripping the axe in his hand, his aura erupting. Somehow, Lao Er’s level had already reached five. Despite the implausibility, he had levelled up at an alarming speed.
"I don’t know you, and you don’t know me. We are merely executing orders for money. You guys are just unfortunate. What can you expect when you’re so weak?"
When Lao Er’s aura erupted, the men in black defensive stance suggested that they had become slightly alarmed, but they didn’t seem too worried.
The surrounding blade-bearing death soldiers weren’t just simply high leveled, they were all at level four and even level five.
These men had already pulled out their weapons, either condemning weapons or magic staffs, and had both of them surrounded.
"Damn, there’s too little information. We can’t figure out who these people are." They were merely proxies hired by someone; it seemed impossible to get any concrete information from them.
"Who hired you?" Lao Er demanded.
"We do have professional ethics to uphold. Even if it’s not worth much, we still can’t tell you that. If anyone finds out that I’ve spilled the beans, I’d be punished when I get back."
Punishment? Looks like they’re from a major organization. Could they be professional assassins?
"Skip the unnecessary chit-chat. We have no choice now but to fight. This is beyond city limits and delaying would put us at a disadvantage." Du You muttered quietly as they had no reinforcements.
Even his wristwatch had somehow been disabled by them. At first, Du You might have believed it was due to the environment, but he no longer thought that. The enemy had jammed their communications, but it was unknown if they had the technology to call in reinforcements.
Du You swiftly swung his arm, releasing a fire snake curse onto the frontliners. Due to his increased power, now he could cast a fire snake curse by only preparing for a second. Although Mucus Swamp, however, still required three seconds.
Upon hearing Du You, Lao Er agreed wholeheartedly. After all, his preference was for action over thinking.
Just before the fire snake curse could hit its target, a death soldier from the frontlines hurl himself forward, physically blocking the fire snake curse with his body. The fire snake curse coiled around the man in black, charring him till he bore a frown, yet he was completely silent.
"Haha, cunning play won’t work on us. Get them!" Surrounding people immediately rushed towards them.
A cascade of fireballs and ice spikes shooting across the sky, aiming to swallow them whole.
"Too many to dodge," Du You veered towards the direction with the least amount of attacks, simultaneously activating shield spell to materialize a wall of shields before him.
Seeing Du You’s shield spell, the men in black were taken aback clearly not expecting Du You to have such an ability. As for Lao Er, he began to unleash his Dou Qi, transforming him into a gust of fresh wind.
