Chapter 151: Chapter 151
A wave of gains, the feeling resonated in Du You’s heart. This time’s harvest had led to a tremendous increase in his powers. Even his foundation started to become rich and diverse.
Among the Awakeners, although he couldn’t be considered the richest, he could definitely be counted as one of them. Read full story at 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⚫𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦⚫𝘯𝘦𝘵
However, due to the severe injuries he had sustained, Du You couldn’t leave Border City for the next two days. So, he decided to devote most of his time to cultivating his basic Magic Power.
Basic Magic Power is a skill you can improve upon, much the same as basic skills. They are the derivative of basic skills and just like those, they can’t be enhanced by conventional methods or with Crystal Coins.
A Professional’s strength, besides star rating and levels, largely depends upon the level of his basic and advanced skills. Also, advanced skills can’t be used to craft skill stones, which means they can’t be purchased either.
"Du You, I heard you’re back, how are your injuries?"
All of a sudden, the leader messaged. Du You felt a warm flow in his heart upon seeing the leader’s question.
"Don’t worry, I’m fine. I have returned after all. The next two days are for inspection of the task. I wouldn’t risk leaving and getting into danger again."
"Border City is quite safe now, I’ll feel relieved if you stay."
The leader closed the communication, shook his head, "This guy, such reckless charging even managed to achieve a better effect than my strategies."
Liu Jian shook his head. Indeed, against absolute power, no scheming or cunning tactics were of any use. Du You was able to charge ahead relying solely on his own power, which in itself was a skill.
Unfortunately, as a Scholar he didn’t possess great fighting abilities, so Liu Jian had to continue making plans according to his strategy.
The next morning, Du You’s console flickered. Upon opening it, he saw that it was Lao Er’s message.
"I heard you were seriously injured, what happened?" His concerned voice echoed within the console.
Du You sighed, "It’s nothing, I got injured while doing the task. But I gained a lot too." Lao Er must be somewhere near Border City, otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to contact him, it must have been the leader who told him.
"Are you really okay? Do you need me to come see you, are you badly hurt?"
"No need, just keep doing what you were. It’s just an arm injury, it’ll heal once I return."
"I feel assured if you say so. What kind of task did you take on this time?"
Du You didn’t hide anything, he simply told him about the Giant Rock Fortress mission roughly. On hearing Du You’s story, Lao Er couldn’t help but exclaim in awe.
"Oh my God, it’s unthinkable that you could complete a task like that. The gap between us has become so much bigger now. No, I must move faster. How can I let you outshine me, the most perfect handsome man!"
After finishing, Lao Er closed the transmission and once again started his mad hunting of the Half-Beastmen.
Du You shook his head, he had two professions and even reached the legendary 10-star level, which practically didn’t even exist. If mere hard work could let one surpass him, then his professions were a pure waste. Also, it wasn’t like he wasn’t working hard.
After closing the console, Du You continued his cultivation. In those two days, his Magic Power ascended significantly due to the application of basic Magic Power. It felt more intense than before.
Unfortunately, the difficulty of improving such skills to the next level was amplified because of Du You’s dual professions which inherently possessed plentiful Magic Power. These two days, he had not ascended even one level.
The next day, his rewards finally arrived. The position of Centurion, that wasn’t an ordinary rank by any means.
With the increase in ranks, Du You was visited by the Mayor and the other three Generals of Border City. Having stayed in Border City for such a long time, he was finally able to meet the highest authorities there.
The upper ranks of Border City, one by one, came to meet him as well, most likely to get familiar with his face. After all, they highly acknowledged Du You’s strength. For the officials and soldiers of Border City, personal strength was respected more than power or position. At the same time, he was granted a new privilege as a secretary, the right to speak.
Although he couldn’t talk much and only make proposals, it was still a speaking right.
In this regard, he had surpassed other secretaries. On hearing the news, the leader was so envious that he turned green. Even now, he hadn’t managed to get a secretary’s position.
As for Lao Er, he didn’t care about that at all, the only thing on his mind was building muscles.
But what Du You didn’t expect to see was Xi Qianxue visiting his residence.
"What a rare visitor. Make yourselves at home. Considering my current state, I wouldn’t be able to host you guys." On seeing Xi Qianxue along with Lan Xiaodie and Daniu, Du You extended his hand in a welcoming gesture.
"It’s okay, there’s nothing good here anyway. After leaving here, you can enjoy life however you want." Daniu spoke loudly.
Xi Qianxue quietly sat down, her gaze steady on Du You, with his arm wrapped in bloody bandages. "Looking at you now, you should be planning on leaving early, especially since there’s only one day left until the deadline of one month."
"Yes, I’m planning on leaving. I can’t do anything right now. I’m here just to wait for the task rewards."
Xi Qianxue was silent for a while before she finally spoke, "I must say, I didn’t expect you to be so successful as a secretary and even obtained the right to speak. I had planned to achieve this in two steps. You completed it in one. So, we can enhance our cooperation, but it has nothing to do with others."
"Really, does that mean it has nothing to do with the alliance? Then what sort of cooperation would that be?"
Xi Qianxue didn’t hold back: "This cooperation is very simple. I hope that you don’t come into this world in the next days, and keep your right to enter this world."
"What’s the benefit in this for me?" Du You wasn’t interested in strategizing. No matter how great the layout was, he was too lazy to work it out.
"This is related to the advancement task. When the time comes, you can take advantage of this world. All I’m saying is, I hope you’ll give it a serious thought."
So, that’s how it was. Du You didn’t know what the advancement task was, but he thought it over and decided to nod, "Okay, then I won’t come in." Du You believed that he wouldn’t end up doing too poorly in other Derived Worlds.
"That’s settled then. To express my sincerity, I’ll send your things as soon as possible."
