Chapter 1440: Chapter 1440
Although they passed the test, they still had no way to leave. The entire world remained locked down, purportedly to continue the purge of the Blood Lotus remnants.
Du You always had a feeling something was amiss because some people around seemed to be probing him intentionally or unintentionally.
Whatever, he thought, having nothing particular to do nor any faith to adhere to, he might as well let them be. After several years of combat, now that the war was won, everyone relaxed.
There was revelry everywhere, day and night, especially among the people of the American Alliance, who indulged excessively. Yet, for some reason, Du You felt their revelry seemed more like venting. Perhaps he was being overly sensitive; it could just be their nature.
To Du You’s surprise, a public announcement was issued the very next day.
"What? The Blood Lotus Sect Master has escaped. By summoning the power of the Blood Lotus Saint Lord and colliding the two forces, he temporarily tore open Earth’s will’s lockdown of this world and fled, destination unknown?"
Du You himself hadn’t expected such a turn of events, and the news was made public by the alliance. Of course, such news circulated internally and was not to be spread far, typical of many stories on the Dark web.
"A tier 7 powerhouse can survive in the Void Turbulence, so now no one knows where the adversary might be. Clearly, he has become a formidable threat to our side of Earth." Google seaʀᴄh 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝·𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖·𝕟𝕖𝕥
Lin Yucha looked at the wanted poster following this and commented, these matters had nothing to do with them.
"By the way, have you gathered all the information I requested? What is the current situation up there?"
There was post-war clean-up, but they couldn’t be ignorant of everything. So, in between indulgences, Du You had the sisters gather intelligence. This task was within the sisters’ expertise, but not for Xi Qianxue and Li Mengyao; usually, their teammates handled such tasks. The duo watched the sisters now, eyes gleaming.
It must be said, the sisters were indeed enviable – powerful, no less beautiful than themselves, and so capable. Disregarding family background, they felt they were no match for Lin Yucha and Lin Yushi.
Lin Yucha quickly said: "There are mainly two big issues right now. First, it seems plausible to say we’re catching the remnants of the Blood Lotus because many vanished after learning of our inspections."
Upon hearing this, Du You nodded, getting a general idea. Xi Qianxue added: "They probably knew they wouldn’t pass the tests, so they went into hiding. But as long as they’re in this world, it’s only a matter of time before they’re caught."
This world was under Earth’s will’s control. Having just clashed with the Blood Lotus Saint Lord, Earth’s will would not overlook these people. The will of Earth was different from the Professionals, having its own ways to monitor them. Once any of these individuals gave themselves away, Earth’s will would mark them as traitors, making them easier to find.
"And the second matter?" inquired Du You.
"The other issue concerns the American Alliance. The massive casualties from the battle make post-war clean-up troublesome, especially for the American Alliance, whose losses were even more appalling. Many are aware of it now."
While talking, the sisters began to dramatize. Lin Yucha said to Lin Yushi with a loud and confident voice, imitating the leader of an American Alliance team, "We demand a hero’s welcome."
Lin Yushi spread her hands in a hopeless gesture: "There’s nothing we can do about it; all your heroes are dead and gone. You might as well bring back their bodies first."
"This is the kind of performance many are putting on outside, supposedly reflective of what happened in the negotiation talks."
Du You, Xi Qianxue, and Li Mengyao exchanged looks. The story had indeed spread quickly.
"What happened exactly? Why were the losses so heavy?" Li Mengyao was puzzled.
"What else could it be? Isn’t it because the technological Professionals are inherently weak? In the battlefield, we had participants of at least tier 5, with no one below tier 4. Those tech types, without special modifications, wouldn’t even reach tier 2, and even with modifications, they still lack sufficient mental strength."
"During that initial strike, everyone who witnessed it was attacked. Those above tier 4 were fine besides a few whose spirits were corrupted; the rest just suffered headaches, nothing serious. But the drivers from the American Alliance were almost entirely wiped out."
"A subsequent massive explosion obliterated the entire plateau and mountain region, along with the Mechas and the men inside. The representatives of the American Alliance are now saying it was an effort in vain."
Lin Yucha couldn’t help but laugh. The American Alliance had initially intended to suppress their master’s arrogance by showcasing their signature weapons, but it turned out that the Combined Battleship, although formidable, ended up shielding Du You instead and being destroyed themselves.
Then, in a bid to restore their reputation or the technological Professionals’ status, the American Alliance sent a large number of tech Professionals to fight in this world, where they indeed made a significant impact.
However, when facing the Blood Lotus Saint Lord, these technological Professionals were almost entirely decimated. The loss of human and financial resources had pushed these representatives to the edge of sanity. Such losses could cripple or even obliterate any major power.
"Indeed, this should be interesting to watch. The flaws of the technological Professionals are too evident, and now everyone can finally see it clearly. It’s good in a way; this confirms that tech-based paths are essentially dead ends."
Du You sighed; tech Professionals advanced quickly, but relied too heavily on external aids.
Their combat power was notable, but they were not inherently strong and their progression peaked at tier 6. Even if they changed professions, few could reach tier 7 and some might not even match their previous capabilities.
This path was indeed a shortcut to advancement, but also a confirmed dead end.
This incident would likely calm those who envied the power of technological weapons. The initial disadvantage of other professions compared to tech is understandable, but ultimately they have the potential to climb higher.
Of course, for those who can’t even reach 3 stars, they might as well follow the technological path. At least on that route, regardless of how low the star rating, there’s a chance to achieve a tier 6 ranking; those individuals likely wouldn’t have achieved much otherwise.
