Chapter 1197: Chapter 1197
After the death of the Undead Mage before them, the castle no longer possessed any defensive capabilities.
By the time Du You finished summoning the Demonic Flame Skeletons and returned to this location, the Demon Extermination Spirit had already scoured the inside and outside of the Undead Castle, uncovering all the traps and mechanisms, as well as some specially concealed spots.
"It seems there are still some things left behind. Let’s clean up a bit, and if we encounter anything valuable, we can take it back after converting it."
Hearing Lin Yucha’s words, Du You nodded. Realizing that other Undead Castles couldn’t reach this spot, the three of them entered the castle. Given the nature of an Undead Mage, how could they possibly trust others? Naturally, when constructing a castle, it would be built out of the firing range of other castles, and at a great distance too.
Besides, if it were built too close by, not only would they themselves disapprove, but the original castle’s owner would not allow it.
"These are all just broken relics, mostly related to Undead Creatures, and of no use." Thıs text ıs hosted at 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✦𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮✦𝓷𝓮𝓽
Du You looked around, appraised the items through his panel, and found most of them to be junk. Especially for them, the majority were worthless, even if taken back they would be a waste.
However, when they descended to the lowest level, Du You’s eyes narrowed.
Unexpectedly, this place turned out to be a corpse storage. A vast area underground had been hollowed out, and at a glance, it was filled with corpses—human and various animals alike, many of which Du You couldn’t even recognize.
It wasn’t a matter of how extensive his knowledge was but rather that many of the bodies had undergone mutations. These corpses were just piled up here, soaked in a special liquid that prevented decay and allowed the energy of death to seep into them.
Over time, the corpses here became more unique, and when mutations reached a certain extent, the Undead Mage would use special means to modify them, then directly summon powerful Undead.
"The topmost corpses are the highest quality, used to create high-tier Undead. The ones below just supply the energy of death. But such a large pit, and who knows how many corpses are inside, at least several hundred thousand, I’d guess."
Du You nodded, "Certainly, where did these guys get so many corpses from? The Northern Mountain region is all ice and snow; it’s not possible for there to be so many creatures for them to kill." One needn’t think too hard to know they must have collected them from outside using special methods.
"Don’t waste them; we need a lot of Demonic Flame Skeletons," suddenly said Lin Yucha.
Du You’s eyes lit up, "Right, we indeed need these. You two go on out, I’ll handle the summoning here." The environment was too harsh here, the air filled with the stench of corpses and various other odors. If an ordinary person were here, they’d likely die from fright or at the very least become ill from the various bacteria in the air.
The two sisters shook their heads and stood behind Du You. Their master had not left, so how could they leave simply because the environment was harsh? That was not what a qualified servant should do.
Besides, Du You was also their love; how could they abandon their lover and run outside for fresh air?
Du You said nothing more and began his summoning, releasing a succession of Skeleton Kings. Although there were many corpses, the actual area wasn’t very large since they were all piled up here. Thus, Du You’s summoning was quickly completed, although it consumed a lot of Magic Power. However, with the help of the Dark Spirits, Magic Power was rapidly restored.
Before long, the corpses were all burned clean by the Soul Devouring Demon Flame, even the liquids were incinerated. Skeletons with flames adorning their bodies stood up one by one, and many more were unable to stand.
"Let’s go, we’re leaving." Du You turned to leave, the army of skeletons following behind. Many skeletons were fused together but still moved forward. Breaking a few bones, if necessary, was a small price to pay.
As Du You and the two ladies emerged, the castle was quickly overrun by a multitude of Demonic Flame Skeletons. Undead Mages witnessing this scene grew grim.
"The bastards must have found the corpse storage; can those corpses really be used directly?"
"We can’t leave our corpse storage to them; destroy it."
"Destroy it? Don’t joke; do we have the time or extra Magic Power to do such a thing now?"
Indeed, with so many corpses in the corpse storage and due to its importance, everyone had set up layers of protection around it, with no one considering destroying it—only protecting it.
Even if they themselves wished to destroy it, it would take a significant amount of time and deplete much Magic Power. In such a situation, who would spend their Magic Power on such an endeavor? It would be more loss than gain.
Furthermore, the enemy’s numbers were already considerable, and what difference would these additional ones make? They couldn’t have known about the true state of the Demon Extermination Spirit. As the battle progressed, one castle after another was destroyed.
Each fifth-tier Undead Mage that appeared was eliminated, barely posing a threat.
"We should head over; that City of the Dead is about to be destroyed." Lin Yushi pointed ahead and said.
But just as she finished speaking, the entire Undead City suddenly exploded, causing the cliffs below to tremble and finally collapse. The stone shell and a mass of corpses inside fell downwards, in a scene of immense grandeur.
"Better safe than sorry," Du You stated, his eyes wide with disbelief at the Undead Mage’s madness, having turned their own castle into a huge bomb. If that individual had held out for a while, and they had approached, they too would have been either killed or severely injured in the explosion.
Such an explosion wasn’t aimed at them specifically; even a sixth-tier individual would be affected if they went in.
Lin Yushi nodded in agreement, "Yes, I too think safety first," conveniently forgetting what she had previously suggested.
Soon, Du You arrived at the foot of the mountain and, before everyone, began transforming the fallen corpses. A multitude of Demonic Flame Skeletons rose to their feet. The Undead Mages cursed inwardly—just who was the true Undead Mage here? How could that seemingly Dark Attribute Mage be so much stronger than themselves?
"No, this can’t continue ; let’s make an alliance, or everyone here will die." They finally realized they couldn’t go on ; it was either unite or perish together.
