Chapter 1050: Chapter 1050
The issue of the new territory spread and soon attracted countless covetous gazes. There was no helping it, as each territory represented immense development potential and interests, especially a new territory in an unclaimed area.
But some people from before had too high demands, and Du You directly excluded them.
Many even wanted to control their territory gradually through a method resembling a joint-stock company. Du You wasn’t a fool, having long since become familiar with the various rules concerning territory, he naturally wouldn’t agree.
If it really came to that point, he might have the title of a lord, but, he feared, his word would count for nothing.
Perhaps he could issue forceful commands since the territory was his, but on Earth, he didn’t have that much strength. If they decided to deal with him later, he wouldn’t be able to defend himself, as Earth still operated on rules.
Eventually, it was the people from the academy who Du You accepted first. After all, everyone was a schoolmate or from the same university, and there had been prior cooperation; the partnership in the Giant world had been quite pleasant.
In the end, a corps leader from the academy came as a representative to his territory to negotiate with Du You on behalf of the academy.
Having seen the world, Du You, after two days of negotiation, finally arrived at a result that satisfied both parties. First, the territory’s revenue would give the academy a twenty percent share. It was considered a form of cooperation, as well as protection money.
The academy would be responsible for protecting the interests of the territory, both in this world and on Earth.
Next, was the academy’s procurement of some technological items from the territory, with a maximum quota of up to half of the entire territory’s output. Du You didn’t mind though, since if he had to sell goods, it didn’t matter to whom he sold them.
However, where Du You conceded was on pricing. The price sold to the academy would only be slightly above cost, without much added value. That meant, future income from the territory would shrink a great deal, and a portion of the revenue would go to the academy.
Even a detailed calculation might show that the academy could end up earning more from the territory than he did.
Of course, the academy was not without its contributions. They would provide needed blueprints and resources for his use. They would also give their full support to the development and expansion of the territory. In the future, with any new blueprints or such, they would think of him first. Both sides put forth something, and in the end, it could be said that everyone was happy.
"By the way, in the future some students from the academy’s technological branches will come here to study. You will need to help arrange for this," they said.
Du You replied indifferently, "I know, it’ll be the same as in the Giant world. But I don’t have a Skill Hall here, so I can’t transfer any of this world’s special Professions."
"I’m aware of that. It is relatively easy to take on technological Professions, though they have significant drawbacks. If they want to take up such Professions, there are plenty of places to go, and they need not specifically come to your territory," said the representative, relieved by Du You’s understanding.
Most students usually think too highly of themselves, believing that they are quite extraordinary. It’s rare to find young people like Du You who can set their ego aside, neither being overly obsequious nor arrogant and who understand what they need to do.
In reality, it was the result of the two sisters always helping to analyze and covertly pass messages to Du You. They all knew that if it were up to Du You alone, the negotiation would not have gone so smoothly.
Then, people from the academy began to gather in his territory. Many who had just entered the world and had not yet found their footing came to Du You’s territory, hoping to develop themselves through his land. Almost concurrently, the academy filtered out the blueprints Du You needed and sent them over, resulting in very pleasant cooperation between the two sides.
As for the other forces of the Professionals Alliance, he kindly declined their interest. With Capital University supporting him here, those people dared not make even the slightest move. Ultimately, they could only choose some trade partnerships.
Such as purchasing some of the specialty products produced in Du You’s territory, minerals from the vicinity of Harry Asteroid, as well as some surplus technological weapons he wanted to sell off. After all, the production rate of a territory on Earth is very swift.
As soon as Du You received the blueprints, he began constructing energy buildings.
Plasma Power Plant (tier four):
Generates electricity using plasma as a power source, which is then converted into energy, with an energy output of 30,000 units.
This is a special power plant that uses an electrical arc to confine plasma, which is then used as an energy source. The 30,000 units is not the total power output but an average value, a consistently maintained unit.
A single power plant could support fifteen Energy Gathering Cannons. If these cannons were amassed together, their combined combat power would be formidable. After giving it some thought, Du You started planning around the perimeter, aiming to build at least one hundred and fifty to begin with.
It wasn’t that Du You didn’t want to build more, but rather there wasn’t enough space left. Constructing power plants also required space.
The academy also provided him with a new defensive building, the Air Machine Gun Tower.
Air Machine Gun Tower (tier three):
Attacks targets with compressed air bullets, firing 100 times per second, capable of Scatter Shot, and especially effective against biological weapons. Occupies 100 energy units.
Although this was only a tier three item, it did not require the consumption of physical bullets. Its range might not be very far, but its firing speed is rapid, making it ideal against smaller foes and biological branches of the armed forces. It’s said to be the latest technological product from the Star Ring Alliance.
Moreover, the energy units required were low—a single power plant could maintain three hundred gun towers. Without a second thought, Du You decided to create three thousand gun towers around his perimeter. This way, all he’d need to do was construct 20 power plants to support them all. Then, Du You learned that the Flesh and Blood Giant Bee could be used in his territory; after all, it wasn’t highly technological. Usually, however, few would consider using such a thing.
Of course, if they were to be used, he’d have to apply beforehand to notify them that it was a friendly unit to prevent them from being targeted as enemies. Similarly, using the combat power of the Flesh and Blood Giant Bee wouldn’t be promoted by the Alliance. But no matter what, the ability to produce them normally was enough. Soon enough, the Giant Bees formed a formidable force within Du You’s territory.
As production progressed, Du You discovered that the special characteristic of the Lord’s Mansion actually allowed for his weapons production to double. That is, the number of weapons manufactured was twice what the official data indicated. What was now lacking were the operators.
Under these circumstances, it seemed like he was indeed going to sell off quite a bit of his technological weaponry.
In the end, the academy also left him two blueprints, the Automated Weapon Production Factory (tier four) and the Space Port (tier five).
Though he couldn’t yet build the Space Port in his territory, Du You decided to first create the Automated Weapon Production Factory.
