Chapter 1008: Chapter 1008
The establishment of a new kingdom was a big deal for anyone, and even Emperor Tru was very busy with many things to prepare. The only person who wasn’t so busy was Du You.
There was no helping it, his control over the territory was simply too strong. Du You needed only to issue a command. It wasn’t Du You himself who was busy, but rather Shaliya and the others. Du You was merely learning some of the kingdom’s etiquette.
Shaliya took the time to specifically teach Du You some of the national-level meeting etiquettes. As a princess, Shaliya was deeply familiar with these things. Now, Du You’s learning capacity had become very strong and he had completely mastered it in just two days.
The only thing that troubled Du You was that his operation against the Kingdom of Hanhai had come to an abrupt halt because of the founding of the new kingdom. He would have to deal with the current situations before he could continue attacking the Kingdom of Hanhai.
During this time, who knew what the Kingdom of Hanhai could be preparing, which was somewhat vexing to Du You.
However, it couldn’t be helped, as the empire’s face needed to be given. If he didn’t, and the empire thought he wanted to go to war with them, the consequences were unimaginable. His territory had not yet reached the strength to go to war with the empire.
While it might be said that the empire’s tier-six experts were not necessarily a match for his Flame Giants, the issue was that the empire didn’t only have tier-six individuals. They certainly had no shortage of tier-five experts, far more than he could compare with.
At this moment, Anya City was in a state of full martial law. Soldiers could be seen patrolling everywhere, and some were going from house to house conducting investigations and censuses. Starting from this day, except for some special personnel, no one else was allowed in or out of the city. In short, the entire city had been sealed off, and the commoners had no idea what was happening.
Only a few of Anya City’s great nobles knew about this matter, but it was absolutely impermissible to leak it.
After several days of preparation, a new month had begun, and Du You’s new batch of forces had already been created. With the birth of this batch of forces, the strength of the entire territory had grown even stronger. For origınal chapters go to 𝗇𝗈𝗏𝖾𝗅✦𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾✦𝗇𝖾𝗍
But now was not the time to attack the Kingdom of Hanhai; they had to continue waiting. Due to the big event, Space Formation Mages had been summoned over. The empire had sent over spatial array diagrams and various materials.
The Space Formation Mages were now pulling all-nighters to build the Teleportation Array. When the empire learned he had the capability to build a Teleportation Array, Du You felt the empire’s attitude towards him visibly change in an instant. Such Space Formation Mages were not something an ordinary power could cultivate, which was no wonder the empire underwent such a change.
When the Space Transmission Array was completed and connected to the Anya City Array, the meeting finally began.
Accompanied by four Fire Lizard Cavalry, the rest of Du You’s forces were those that did not reach tier five. However, the military might was strong, and the ceremonial aspect was done perfectly, all thanks to Shaliya’s behind-the-scenes efforts.
Shaliya did not follow but instead managed the territory. Du You, accompanied by a few deputies, came to Anya City.
After arriving at Anya City, various diplomatic personnel and intelligence agents began their operations. For three whole days, Du You and Emperor Tru did not meet at all as countless underground activities were afoot.
"It really feels like a spy thriller," Du You said, looking at the continuous stream of reports, which gave him somewhat of a headache. He had no interest in such so-called thrills and battles of wits.
What he liked most was locating the enemy and then simply fighting them.
Fortunately, he did not have to do these things himself. He had loyal and trustworthy personnel to complete them, so there was no concern of betrayal. With his subordinates united, without distrust, various matters became much easier to handle.
"Teru the 42nd, the forty-second king of the Divine Flame Empire, ah, just a figurehead king. There are some mysteries that can’t be probed, historical gaps. Well, why bother with that much, the formal meeting is tomorrow anyway."
Another day passed, and the next day, following the etiquette he had learned, Du You finally met with Emperor Tru. This man, who appeared not too old yet was probably older than his own grandfather, exuded kindness rather than the stern demeanor Du You had imagined, causing him to question its genuineness.
In the end, the two did not discuss anything too sensitive, rather it resembled catching up on family news. Only at the end did they confirm the two most important matters: territory and alliance.
"This is the range of land I want. It’s a bit large, true, but none of it is particularly critical," Du You delineated a region of land on the map, substantial in the south.
This land alone was large enough for a kingdom, let alone the vast southern region.
That was Du You’s division according to the scope of his own territory. He allocated in this way so that even when his territory reached tier six, it would still not exceed this area, planning for the future expansion of his land.
When Emperor Tru saw Du You’s delineation, he didn’t care at all, instead, he added an extra piece. "Include this area as well; it’ll make everything more complete." The southern lands seemed barren to the empire, which was why they cared so little, thus giving a bit more didn’t matter. The empire could simply acquire lands from elsewhere.
At the same time, Du You also realized that the extra land he was given belonged to the western regions, more barren than not, and it included the borders of White Stone City within his own territory. That meant he would be confronting the Quicksand Empire in the future.
"Alright, include it then," Du You agreed, which made Emperor Tru even happier. He knew Du You must have understood his intention. If you want to divide a kingdom and reap benefits, you must take on some responsibilities.
The Quicksand Empire, the empire’s greatest enemy, would also become Du You’s adversary. With Du You restraining them on this front, the empire’s pressure would be much alleviated in the future. As for the Quicksand Empire itself, being a desert, the empire didn’t value it at all.
What followed was a joyous resolution, where both sides re-delineated the borders according to the new map, then formalized the contract and documentation. This first meeting thus came to a complete end. Of course, there was still much to be done.
Although the main document had been signed, there were many details to work out, not something that could be finished in a short time. Otherwise, why would both parties bring so many officials and assistants? It was now time for them to shine.
