Chapter 22: Chapter 22

XVII

Soph's P.O.V.

I never noticed how many policemen there are in London - I knew there were a lot of them, but this is just amazing. There had to be at least a hundred in this building, and there's about 15 police stations around London.

They keep rushing up and down the place, not caring about any of us or trying to help us and after a while, we manage to grab attention of the person sitting behind the desk, above which there's a big sign "Information".

"Let me check it out real quick for you." she fakes a smile when I ask for Axel's name.

Mum squeezes my hand while we wait for information, while coach seems to be in a completely different place with his mind, probably planning how to get Axel out of here.

When the policewoman finds him in the system, her mouth parts, realizing who we're talking about.

This can't be good.

"Follow me." is all she says and I think she subtly starts checking all of us out, she probably thinks we had something to do with the murders as well.

I guess I'm sort of a suspect at the moment because of my connection with Axel.

She leads down a certain hallway with all white walls, till we get to a room in which we can see Axel through some sort of glass.

He's sitting there, hands on his lap, mouth closed and looking at a policeman who's showing obvious signs of annoyance. As he sees us through the window, he leaves the door, glaring at us. "He refused to speak without his lawyer." he says to the officer who accompanied us there. Then he looks at us. "He's free to go for now, but he has to be back tomorrow with his lawyer."

With that, he leaves just as Axel comes out with a grim expression on his beautiful face. I whine seeing how disturbed he looks and immediately hug him. He reluctantly hugs me back.

Oh shoot, he's probably mad at me for leaving.

"I'm glad you did one thing smart, boy." coach pats his shoulder with a smile. "Let's get the hell out of this hell hole."

Axel stays silent throughout the majority of the day and I come back home without a thought, having completely forgotten about the picture.

Coach calls his attorney which happens to be one of the best attorneys in England but Axel can afford him, thankfully. They inform him of what happened and that he needs to be at the station tomorrow with Axel.

They decided to see what the cops have for now and then plan the next move from there. His lawyer is being very supportive, saying that they'll win this without a problem if only they don't have any major evidence like a fingerprint or something like that.

It calms me down greatly, but it doesn't do much for Axel.

At evening, coach and mum leave our house and I'm left alone with overly anxious Axel. He hasn't really moved from the couch for at least three hours, so I sit down next to him and start rubbing his back in a relaxing way, just like he likes it.

"It'll be okay." I whisper to him after about five minutes, rubbing my slowly growing stomach. "I don't see this turning bad for you."

Axel gulps. "Yeah. I'm just a little scared." he says, leaning his hand on his hands, then turning to look at me, hus hand joining mine on my tummy. "I hate prison and I don't ever want to go back there, but what I'd hate much more is missing the birth of our little angel and then not seeing her grow up." he confesses, sighing.

He leans down and kisses my tummy gently. "I want her to know her daddy, I want to be her best friend."

I chuckle. "So it's a girl now, not a boy anymore?"

He smiles. "Yeah. I've always wanted a boy, but when I picture it now, all I can see is a little girl."

"Me too." I tell him, grinning and he grins back at me. "Look at us, so grown up. Starting a family, living on our own. We really have grown from that couple who couldn't even spend a day together without arguing." he says.

I nod my head in agreement. "We really did grow, didn't we? It can't all be taken away from us now, that's just too cruel." I wince at the thought of Axel being sentenced for ten years or more.

"Biden will get me out of this shit." he says, kissing my belly again. It's sounds like he's trying to convince himself of that, he sounds unsure.

He kisses my belly yet again, before a grin comes on his face and he starts tickling me without a warning.

I yelp. "No, stop!" I start laughing uncontrollably, trying to pry his arms away without any success.

"Never." he grins at me and I think of another technique - I start tickling him right back and deep laughter comes rolling out of his mouth as he stops tickling me.

I laugh from watching him now, enjoying the view of one of the most gorgeous men I've ever seen, laughing next to me.

"I l-love you." he lets out in between laughter and I laugh back at him. "I love you too." I say.

He immediately removes my hands from him, proving that he could've stopped me ages ago if he wanted to. "What did you say?" he asks, alarmed.

Blush creeeps onto my cheeks as I realize what I just said - I honestly didn't know I said it, it just came out.

I try to hid my face underneath my hair, mumbling "Nothing", as a big grin spreads on his face.

"Did you say you love me?" he pushes on and I groan in embarrassment. "Please don't make a big deal out of it, it just came out." I whine and he starts laughing.

"Oh baby, I won't make a big deal out of it - I'll make a huge fucking deal of it!" he exclaims and starts kissing me all over.
