Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Opening my eyes, Fen Cheng was no longer beside me. There is only sunlight and silence in the bright room. I stood and watched the silent bird as the door opened. The former majesty walked quickly into the room while he had two companions.
Even before I opened my mouth, he slapped me. The sound of a slap echoed throughout the room. The two soldiers with him remained standing as if nothing had happened. I turned my face to the left but also recovered quickly and looked at him with startled eyes.
“You made Fen Cheng disgusting! So maybe your family didn’t have a wonderful future because they have a plague-like you! Or perhaps you are all a plague! I should have hanged you the first time you stepped in this place!” His words are emphatic. I know what he was referring to by saying ‘disgusting’ but I don’t know where he got the information. I always make sure no one can see Fen Cheng.
“Fortunately, I have not yet sent the letter that should have set the void of our conversation with Rajah Xi, the ruler of the Taraji empire! You will destroy Fen Cheng!” With the loudness of his voice now, it was as if they could hear him from outside. I closed my eyes because the voice seemed to stay in my eardrums.
When I open my eyes, he pulls something out of his dragon robe. I didn’t know what he was doing, but I waited for him. When he’s done, he pulled out a small cloth jewelry pouch. He threw it in my face with so much force; I felt like I was kicked with the tip of the whip. It hit the bone of my cheek. I didn’t show I was hurt as he continued. “Later in the morning, I will give you a chance to leave this empire. You don’t suit Fen Cheng! If anyone should stay by his side, it is JingFei Xi, the princess of Taraji and the future empress of Qing Dynasty!”
He finally walks out. As soon as the door closed, my feet gave up. Earlier I was preventing the melting of those. Instead of feeling the numbness on my face that he hurt so much, I could no longer feel my heart with the mixture of nervousness and fear for me and Fen Cheng. I can’t bear to see him lose the thing he worked so hard for.
As I sat on the bed, it was Fen Cheng who chasing his breath that entered the room. His eyes widened when he saw the tears in my eyes fall, one after another. With the size of maybe the grains of my tears, my face was so damp. I looked at him with scared eyes but I think; the bitterness was more dominant in my eyes. I feel like my throat is dry and I have no words to say.
He touched my face and looked at the part where the jewelry and palm of the former majesty hit. I hid the jewelry the majesty gave me because I felt that the time that Fen Cheng and I had together was ending. I feel, tomorrow or so the next morning, I will no longer have him next to this soft mattress.
I know the day will come when I just have to watch him from behind, but can I extend the time first? Give me a chance to prepare him first before I leave him... Funny ...
Who is unprepared? Fen Cheng, who loves by many people; Fen Cheng, who has everything, or me? Bingwen Wu with nothing. Only once was I given the thing that I could call mine ...
Fen Cheng is not an object, but why do I seem to be just borrowing you? Why is it so hard to enter your world... Why is it so hard to love you?
I sobbed like a child. When else have I been a crybaby? I hugged him tightly. The hug that, if only we could be like that, the hug that would never end ... but I know. It won’t last long either.
He also hugged me tightly and then kissed my forehead and eyes. This is what I love about him. Every time he kisses me on the forehead and eyes because that means he respects and appreciates me.
“I’m sorry.” His voice broke. Why does it seem more painful to you? Aren’t you the one who shouldn’t be hurt here because many people love you, unlike me? You are the only one I have.
I let go of his hug and then pretended to laugh. Tears welled up in the corner of his eye. It’s just funny that what everyone fearing is crying right now in front of me.
“What are you doing! I always wake up alone! Maybe JingFei and you are already doing something?” I pretended to be joking because I didn’t want to waste our time just crying.
There is still time left, so it should be consumed with happy memories. I bit his arm, then sniffed. He was just quiet and looked at me while trying to stimulate the ambiance of the two of us.
“Don’t frown anymore! It didn’t hurt when the majesty slap me! You did worse for me, didn’t you? You stabbed me with a sword!” I laughed out loud as I remembered how I got here.
I stood up on the bed, then jumped up and down. “Look. Am I not okay? Don’t sulk there!” As I cheered him up, the door opened. Grinning lips, JingFei greeted Fen Cheng and me.
“I heard what happened, Your Majesty. It’s sad to know that you have a cruel love affair with ...” she stopped speaking, then showed a disgusting expression, “that disgusting man. Maybe you did something to Majesty, so he’s like that!”
Her scream startled me and watched her as my eyebrows met. What is this woman saying? But I was surprised when Fen Cheng stood up.
JingFei smiled super sweet when Fen Cheng stopped in front of her. “Your Majesty.”
Fen Cheng’s slap on JingFei made both of us scream, causing her to be sitting on the floor.
