Chapter 10: Chapter 10
"Is it not enough that you are an illegitimate child, you bastard!? You have added embarrassment to this family again! What do you think they will say if they found out that we are hiding a homosexual!" The woman furiously shout.
Every time she utters a word, you feel the emphasis on it. Acalan just closed his eyes. The woman was still trembling with anger when a pretty girl approached her. The hysterical woman is her stepmother while the young one is her stepsister.
He did not know how his stepmother found out about his gender. The only person he told about it was his younger stepsister.
He stared at his stepsister earnestly. Because even if she doesn't admit it, he knows that she's the one who said it
.
He opened his eyes and mustered up the courage to speak.
"I'm sorry, mother."
"Brother, you should have left! What if there is something that will happen to mother because of you!" His stepsister screaming now too.
If earlier he was still suspicious, now he is sure — that it was his stepsister who said it. He nodded and turned away as tears flowed.
He woke up from the knock on the door. He looked out the window and saw that there was no rain and that the sun was high already. He stood up to open the door. The first look he saw was Austen's fresh from the bath face.
"Get ready. After we eat we will go to see Grayson."
The hours passed quickly, now that they were in front of Grayson and Elijah's rented house. They went upstairs and knocked on his door.
The door opened and Grayson popped out. At first, his reaction was still normal until it gradually sinks into his brain who is in front of him. His face was mixed with a confusing and joyful look.
In the end, the decision to let them in first before he'd ask is what he did.
Grayson made Acalan sit down and began to asks, "What happened? Why did you suddenly come here?"
Acalan didn't speak and played with his fingers before looking at Austen. It seems to indicate that if he could come out first.
Austen immediately got what he wanted to say, so he told them that he'll just go to the other room to where Elijah is.
Acalan recounted what happened before he headed to Pinyin. Grayson didn't know what to say so he just hugged and told him to rest first.
"I have something to do today with Austen and Elijah. If you want you can come or just relax here."
"I'll stay here."
Grayson took a shower and prepared for their leaving, "If you're hungry you can cook in the kitchen here, if you don't want here— you can go out to eat."
Grayson lends the money to Acalan, "This is the last money Elijah gave me but I'll give them to you now. Don't forget to eat."
Grayson came out and knocked on the other door, the door opened just in time.
"Let's go," Elijah said.
They followed him out when Elijah asked, "Where is Abriella?"
"She told me that we would just meet at the library and she would head there first," Austen answered.
When they arrived at the library, they talked to the librarian again.
"There was a woman who came inside first. She said that someone else would follow him, I guess she was referring to you guys."
They went down to see Abriella. When exactly they went down the stairs—Abriella was running towards them carrying a book with a thick brown cover.
"Take a look! Take a look! I'm not mistaken. In the year 1876, people witnessed a man who came from the past," she said hurriedly while pointing to the contents of the book.
She was right, there was a story about a man who came from the past. They move to the next page but nothing followed.
"If it is true that you came from the past, the question is, why do you have no memory? The one page of the book did not answer the questions in your mind," Austen crossed his arms and sit.
"He is right. How can we explain the time we woke up in the forest, and why Grayson had such an impact on us the first time we met," Elijah agreed.
"Why do you keep trying to involve that man. His situation is not connected to what is happening to us," Abriella said with an irritating voice.
"Don't blame him because I brought him here myself. If it is true that our situation is about time travel, I want to confirm. I want to be enlightened and know the reason why I came here," Elijah clenched his jaw.
Grayson was silent as Elijah spoke when he suddenly interjected, "Abriella is right. My situation only adds to your problem," Grayson looked Abriella in the eye and continued, "Don't worry I'll solve my problem alone. "
Grayson came out quickly while Elijah, Abriella and Austen were left behind.
"You know what Grayson's reaction was when he first saw you because you were the reason! You should have understood that. I won't bring him here without enough reason," Elijah said angrily but calmly.
Before leaving, to chase Grayson, Elijah added what he had said to Abriella, "Just spend your time finding the information that's connected to you, don't worry about me. I'll solve mine alone."
"I'm leaving too, I'll see if Grayson went home to their house," Austen exit too.
Abriella just stood there while stunned.
When Elijah left the library he could no longer catch Grayson. He intercepted an oncoming carriage. He will now go to the farm where they went last time. He bet Grayson might have gone there.
While riding, Elijah noticed that they were going a different route. It was going to Austen's house, so he asked the coachman.
"Isn't that the way to litchi harvesters?" he pointed the other way.
"Yes sir, but because it's muddy now— we have to go through here. It is still dangerous if we pass there, we may be put in danger because of the slippery road," the coachman explained.
He immediately calmed down. As they made their way down the road and approached the forest near Austen's house, he saw an old man. He just stood there, as if looking forward to every person that passing by.
He suddenly remembered what the child Daniel had told them. That the old man said that time travel does exist.
He touched the coachman and told him to stop the carriage, he quickly paid and got off. After he came down he looked back at the old man.
But as he got closer, the old man's gaze fell on him. His expression was shocked and frightened, Elijah wanted to tell him not to be afraid, but it was too late because he was already running.
