Chapter 104: Chapter 104

Ethan stormed out of the room with his eyes wide with rage and anger that his body couldn’t control. He ignored the frantic call of his mother as he stormed outside. The walls closed in and his heart pounded fast, he couldn’t believe his ears; his father had betrayed him, played him the long game and ended up giving everything to Jackson; his favorite son.

He tried recalling Mr. Stanwill’s words even though he never wanted to remember those words but they were stuck in his brain, etched on the walls and unwilling to let go.

“ – and to Ethan Hatton my first son, I leave you in charge of Hatton Tech and finally to Jackson Hatton, I leave you in charge of all Hatton Enterprises globally”

Globally?

In charge of all Hatton Enterprises globally?

If Ethan calculated properly this meant Jackson was in fact in charge of him. How outrageous? How insulting? He kicked at the ceramic statue angrily, smashing it further with his foot and even more when he realized that it was his father’s favorite outdoor décor and if he could he wanted to burn the whole house down but he held himself especially when he saw Emily approaching him, rushing towards him with a certain agency that he deemed uncalled for.

“What are you doing?” she yelled angrily, looking from the broken statues to him and studying the destruction that now lay below the both of them.

“What does it look like?” he yelled back

“Aren’t you too old to be throwing tantrums like this?” she asked him now and Ethan scoffed, he grabbed her forcefully by her arms, his bloodshot eyes drilling into hers

“You think you have a say now huh? You have a couple shares and you think you have say now? You seem to forget that I brought you into this family and I made you what you are and this is how you repay me?”

“You’re hurting me” Emily said quietly, avoiding his eyes but Ethan didn’t let go but only tightening his grip

“Why him? Why does he get everything and I get nothing? Why Emily? Tell me why? You should know why?”

“I don’t know” Emily cried out “I don’t fucking know, just fucking calm down Ethan”

“Calm down?” Ethan laughed dryly “You’re telling me to calm down? How can I fucking down when my dumb little brother is taking everything from me Emily, explain it to me like I’m fucking five years old”

“Ethan let go of me!” Emily yelled out loudly still trying to pull away from him but Ethan was not relenting.

“Cut it out Ethan” Jackson’s voice sounded as he walked further and pulling Emily out of Ethan’s grip, pulling her over to his side.

Ethan looked him down “Here to gloat? You got everything, do you want a congratulations and a pat on the back? Well there you have it, congratulations brother” Ethan moved to actually pat him on the back.

“Stop it, it’s not a competition” Jackson warned.

“Oh don’t act naïve brother, you know it is, you know it has always been and you didn’t even have try, you always got everything at the tip of your fingers. Father, the company and even my fucking wife”

“Stop it Ethan!” Emily yelled now

“Shut the hell up Emily, don’t tell me what to do” Ethan yelled now and before Ethan could even complete his statement Jackson moved in with a punch, hitting him straight in the jaw and Ethan staggered back in awe, holding his jaw as the pain radiated throughout his entire face.

“Don’t talk to her like that!” It was Jackson’s turn to yell angrily. Ethan was on the verge of retaliation when Jackson suddenly tackled him to the ground and throwing him another punch, and another until was Ethan was breathless on the floor, a trickle of blood running from his mouth and nose.

Emily stared wide eyed with her mouth covered with her hands.

“Come on Emily, he deserves it. He’s total prick” Jackson took her hands and guiding her back into the house and leaving Ethan helpless on the floor.

Thirty minutes later, Ethan still lay dejected on the floor. He fixed his eyes on the blue sky letting the frustration wash over him. The pain was more than his heart, was more than the heartbreak and the betrayal he felt, it was everything, it was everything he had ever believed in, and everything he had ever worked for crashing before his eyes.

He stood up now, ignoring the pain that blared in his entire face and staggered his way to his car and it was a fast drive to the familiar that kept a low profile and housed other angry and lonely rich sons like him.

“The usual” he said to the female bartender he recognized.

“Damn what happened to your face” she asked failing t notice that he wasn’t in the mood for a chat and even with Ethan’s silence she went on.

“I heard about your dad, my condolences man. I guess you’re the sole heir and you’re here to celebrate -  alone”

Ethan eyed her suspiciously, but sighed deeply instead and taking the neat scotch from her “Just shut up Belly” he called her name.

“Oh” she said simply “You were skipped in the will”

Ethan downed the drink in one gulp and slid the glass back to her  “Another”

“So what are you going to do about it?” she asked him

“What’s there to do about it?” he shot her a look

Belly smiled “I have a cousin who got skipped out on the will, you know the stereotype which you fit into perfectly. First son, dedicated and hardworking but had a dirty gambling addiction problem and no one trusted him anymore”

“So what did he do?”

“He went over the rails and I bet you rich boy, got his inheritance back”

Ethan stayed quiet, studying Belly and the wheels turning in his head suddenly.

“How?”

“Blackmail”
