Chapter 47: Chapter 47
Regrouping and Tactical Search
The jungle was still alive with the echoes of battle—sporadic gunfire, the distant hum of helicopter rotors, and the occasional explosion from lingering skirmishes. The SEALs had forced Victoria Langley into retreat, but her forces were far from broken. Worse, her reinforcements were en route, and the window to extract Jamie and Solomon was closing fast.
David Lancaster, his face streaked with sweat and dirt, crouched beside a fallen log, scanning the surroundings through his night-vision goggles. Beside him, Ryan gripped his HK416, his knuckles white. The two men had fought their way through the remnants of Victoria’s defenses, but Jamie was still missing. And as far as David was concerned, the mission wasn’t over until his daughter was safe.
Jack Turner’s voice crackled over the radio.
“No sign of Jamie or Solomon topside. We’re switching to thermal scans.”
David tapped his earpiece. “Keep me posted. We’re pushing forward.”
The SEALs fanned out, advancing in a coordinated sweep through the jungle ruins of Victoria’s base. Motion detectors and infrared scanners combed through the devastation. Ryan and David moved together, their rifles sweeping the terrain.
Then, a faint blip appeared on their scanner.
“Underground structure,” Ryan muttered, pointing to a partially collapsed section of concrete near the compound’s ruins.
David’s heart pounded. Jamie.
Finding Jamie and Solomon
With careful precision, they uncovered a hidden access hatch. Jack signaled for silence, then pried it open. A rusty metal ladder led downward into darkness.
David was the first to descend. His boots hit the damp stone floor of a dimly lit underground chamber. The air smelled of sweat, blood, and stale gunpowder.
His daughter lay against the wall, her arms bound behind her back, a bruise on her cheek. Across from her, slumped against the bars, was Solomon Kane, his face battered but still alive.
Jamie’s eyes widened. “Dad—”
David didn’t hesitate. He fired a precise shot at the lock, kicking the cell door open. He dropped to his knees, quickly untying her restraints.
Jamie threw her arms around him. “You came.”
David held her tight. “I’ll always come for you my sweetheart, no matter where ever I am.”
Ryan moved to Solomon, cutting his bindings. “You look a all battered up, Can you walk?”
Solomon groaned but nodded. “I’ve had worse.”
The moment was brief—because an alarm blared.
Jack cursed. “We’ve got incoming.”
Exfiltration Turns Into a Fight for Survival
Mercenaries flooded the underground corridors. The SEALs had mere seconds to react before gunfire erupted.
David shoved Jamie behind him, his M4A1 barking as he dropped the first attacker. Ryan covered the left flank, taking out two more. The SEALs fought with brutal efficiency, clearing the tunnel one enemy at a time.
A grenade rolled toward them.
“Move!” Jack bellowed.
The explosion rocked the chamber, sending dust and debris into the air. David shielded Jamie with his body, gritting his teeth as shrapnel scraped his shoulder.
Ryan fired his last grenade round, collapsing a section of the tunnel behind them. “That’ll slow them down!”
Jack led them upward. “We need to get to the evac zone now!”
They emerged from the underground just as gunships roared back into the sky. Updates are released by novelꞁire.net
“Contact, one o’clock!”
David turned—only to see an golden exo-suit-clad figure stepping into the clearing.
Esteban’s Obsession and the Duel
Clad in a prototype golden exo-suit, the mercenary leader and Warlord moved with a mechanical grace, his enhanced limbs humming with power. His suit, an advanced experimental model likely obtained through black market connections, gave him enhanced speed, strength, and durability—a walking tank.
His gaze, however, was locked on Solomon. “I don’t care about your little war with that crazy women, I only need one answer, Where is Isabella?”
David raised his rifle, but Esteban simply dodged faster than humanly possible, closing the distance in a blink.
Ryan fired—only for the bullets to ricochet harmlessly off the exo-suit’s reinforced plating.
Esteban smirked. “You think I’d come unprepared after getting bested once? Take this!”
With a single, monstrous punch, he sent Ryan flying into a tree. David barely rolled aside as the exo-suited warlord tore through their cover like paper.
Jack barked into his radio. “We’ve got a powered hostile—armor’s too thick for small arms, send some reinforcements with big toys!”
David dodged another strike. “How do we stop him? We can't just run till the reinforcements arrives?”
Solomon coughed, pushing himself up. “I have fought him before his suit is too raw maybe a protoype, I reckon it doesn't even have basic electronic protection systems,Use EMP. Short out his suit.”
Ryan, recovering from the impact, pulled a small EMP grenade from his tactical vest. “Cover me!”
David and Jack laid down suppressive fire, forcing Esteban to dodge—though his movements were still unnaturally fast.
“Hey, asshole!” He tossed the grenade.
Esteban turned—just in time for the EMP pulse to explode at his feet.
His suit seized, locking up mid-motion. Sparks flew as the mechanical limbs short-circuited.
David didn’t waste time. He raised his rifle and fired into the suit’s vulnerable joints, the rounds piercing deep.
Esteban staggered, blood seeping through the ruptured plating.
“No— I still need to get Isabel—”
With a final shot, David ended it.
The mercenary leader collapsed, his golden suit flickering as the last of its power drained away.
Escape to the Exfil Zone
Jack signaled. “Move, now!”
With Esteban down, the SEALs pushed toward the jungle, Jamie and Solomon in tow. Gunships circled overhead, forcing them into the trees.
Ryan carried Solomon over his shoulder, while David kept Jamie close.
“We’re almost there!”
Ahead, the Black Hawk extraction chopper appeared over the clearing. SEALs on board laid down suppressive fire as the team sprinted for the rope lines.
David shoved Jamie up first. Ryan hauled Solomon aboard.
Gunfire tore through the trees as the last of Victoria’s forces arrived.
Jack grabbed David’s arm, hauling him onto the chopper just as it lifted off.
The Final Twist – Victoria’s Trap?
As they ascended, David exhaled, pulling Jamie close.
But below—Victoria’s reinforcements had finally arrived in force.
David’s stomach tightened as he saw dozens of vehicles rolling in, squads of fresh troops pouring into the jungle.
On a distant ridge, Victoria Langley watched the SEALs escape.
There was no anger for failure on her face or regret for letting Jamie escape And for the second time that night—
