Chapter 433: Chapter 433
Daniel Harris lowered his gaze, his face calm, as if he no longer cared one bit about his own eyes. "If I’m really blind, then so be it."
He couldn’t even recognize the most important person to him, so what was the point of being able to see?
Owen Finley sighed and said, "Why are you doing this to yourself? I don’t really know what’s going on between you, Mabel Quinn, and Grace Yowell, but there’s no need to make things hard on your body. Do you really want to go back to that completely dark world?"
Daniel Harris stayed silent, his entire being as immobile as a wooden doll, as if his soul had vacated his physical shell.
Just when Owen Finley thought Daniel wouldn’t answer him, Daniel’s voice suddenly emerged, soft and spectral. "Back then, when I could see, there was one person I most wanted to find. So after I firmly established myself in the Harris family, I went looking. But that person had long since left the original village. I continued tracking down clues, and after much difficulty, I found that person... or so I thought. Ten years, I believed I had found them, yet it’s laughable that I’ve been deceived for a whole decade. The person I was looking for was not Grace Yowell at all."
"So, you’re saying the person you were looking for was Mabel Quinn? Grace Yowell tricked you into thinking she was the one you wanted to find?" Owen concluded, connecting the dots from what Daniel said while drunk the other night.
"I’m really foolish, aren’t I?" Daniel murmured. "All these years, I’ve finally got the Harris Family under my control, thinking I saw everything clearly, but I never imagined I’d been played for a fool all along."
"Since you’ve realized you mistook someone else, you just need to find Mabel Quinn and clear things up," Owen consoled.
But Daniel’s face showed a trace of desolation, a deep anguish spreading in his eyes. "It’s no use. I’ve made too many mistakes. Again and again, I didn’t believe her, and now, to her, I’m just a stranger."
Owen suddenly found himself at a loss on how to comfort his friend.
Suddenly, Daniel’s phone on the bedside table rang, but he showed no intention of picking it up. Seeing this, Owen walked over and answered it for him, "Mr. Daniel Harris is not available to take your call right now. May I ask what it’s about?"
Then, after hearing the person on the other end, Owen was momentarily stunned. He looked up at Daniel, "The CEO from Morningstar called, saying Mabel Quinn is at the Corporation processing her resignation..."
Before Owen could finish, Daniel snatched the phone from him. Owen only heard Daniel urgently saying to the Morningstar CEO on the other end, "I’m coming over immediately. No matter what, keep Mabel Quinn there!"
Next, Daniel got off the bed. Owen hurriedly tried to stop him, "Are you crazy? In your current condition, you shouldn’t be going out. You’re not planning to rush to Morningstar and stop Mabel Quinn from quitting, are you?"
Daniel looked at him with icy eyes, "Let go!"
Just those two words made Owen subconsciously release his grip. Daniel’s eyes and the coldness emanating from him made Owen feel that if he didn’t let go, the next moment, Daniel might do something drastic, even violently. Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn novèlfire.net
