Chapter 387: Chapter 387
"Stop with the nonsense. I need to see Xixi safe with my own eyes."
Helian Yu emotionlessly rejected Sun Wei’s suggestion.
Her cold gaze fixed on the rearview mirror; as soon as Sun Wei looked up, he could see those penetrating eyes.
"Do you still remember the responsibility you bear?"
Sun Wei felt a faint unease in his heart and hurriedly replied, "I dare not forget for even a moment."
Helian Yu turned to look at the desolate scenery outside the window, speaking casually, "As long as you remember."
In the passenger seat, the second-in-command held a tablet displaying the GPS system, "Turn right at the upcoming intersection."
The area was surrounded by sprawling industrial parks, eerily quiet and deserted. They had driven for hours without spotting a single soul.
In winter, nightfall came early, and there wasn’t even a streetlamp in sight. Only the car’s low beams illuminated a small stretch of road ahead, with the surrounding darkness pressing in like the jaws of a beast, exuding an overpowering sense of dread, as if it could devour them and the vehicle whole at any moment.
Sensing something, Sun Wei immediately turned off the headlights. "Madam, the second-in-command will stay behind to ensure your safety. I’ll lead a team to scout ahead."
Helian Yu instinctively tightened her grip on the bag strap, her expression unchanged as she nodded slightly, "Be careful."
Sun Wei stepped out of the car, and two men exited the vehicle behind. "Boss."
Sun Wei walked over and opened the trunk, pulling out a large black case. He entered the code and unlocked it.
In the dead of night, the weapons inside the case gleamed coldly under the feeble light.
Sun Wei picked up a handgun and meticulously inspected it, tucking it into the waistband of his pants. As his two comrades checked their firearms, he retrieved additional equipment from the box, concealing various items on his body.
There were daggers, razor blades, and needles laced with potent tranquilizers. This text is hosted at n0velfire.net
"Once we go in, no matter the cost, ensure the young master’s safety."
The two men’s fingers grazed the icy surface of their guns, their expressions hardening gravely. "Understood."
Like shadows, the three figures moved silently and stealthily closer.
The location was remote, at the northernmost edge of the park, where an abandoned factory now stood. Scattered points of light intermittently flickered, resembling faint stars within the vast emptiness of the massive factory.
Two men stood guard at the entrance. Sun Wei signaled, and the other two silently crept from behind. A tranquilizer needle pierced into each of their necks, leaving them unconscious without a struggle.
They placed the men on the ground and cautiously moved forward.
Sun Wei scanned the surroundings, glimpsing traces of oddity in the setup.
This group had meticulously planned the kidnapping of the young master, evident from their elaborate schemes. They were far from being clueless fools–clearly, they were hardened desperados.
Why, then, were their defenses so lax? It didn’t make sense.
Sun Wei touched the gun tucked at his back, an added layer of wariness sharpened his focus as he cautiously approached the factory door.
"That girl’s pretty decent-looking—skin so fair and soft. Since Brother Ma isn’t around, how about we...?"
"Are you looking to get yourself killed? If Brother Ma finds out, neither of us will walk away unscathed."
"Look at this godforsaken place. Let’s just wrap this up quickly. You don’t tell, I won’t tell—who’s ever going to know?"
The vile conversation of two men carried from not far away.
Sun Wei peered through the gap of an abandoned machine, spying their figures: one heavy-set, the other lanky.
The men held makeshift weapons in their hands, the ends occasionally tapping the ground.
In front of them lay a prone figure. The dim light and the men’s obstructive positioning made it difficult to see clearly.
But judging from the exposed corner of clothing, Sun Wei identified the person—it was Shen You’an, who had disappeared with the young master.
If Shen You’an was here, where was the young master?
Sun Wei glanced at the expansive factory area. A single sweep revealed an endless horizon of dust-covered, abandoned machinery, towering like silent armor, creating an imposing scene.
Lowering his gaze to the tablet, Sun Wei checked the tracking signal.
The young master remained within the area.
He gestured to his two comrades, signaling them to split up and search for the young master.
"You think this will work?" The tall man hesitated, a hint of uncertainty glimmering.
"Da Dong, you’re not up for this, are you? Then just keep watch for me."
The short man rubbed his hands together, excitement taking over as he moved to undo his belt.
"Lai Zi, don’t let your lust ruin Brother Ma’s plans." Da Dong tried reasoning with him.
"You don’t get it, do you? That girl’s just an extra. If Brother Ma left her, wasn’t it for us to deal with? Letting her go would bring the cops down on us. Killing her would be a waste—why not, heh..." Lai Zi retorted.
The girl lying on the ground appeared weak and powerless, a nightmare about to befall her.
The short man grinned perversely as he pulled off his belt, but before he could act, a shadow darted in front of him. In his brief moment of confusion, he felt a sudden coldness against his temple.
