Chapter 132: Chapter 132
Shen You’an returned to his room, thought for a moment, and dialed a number.
At the hotel, Zhao Haotian, who was preparing to sleep, saw the incoming call and got startled.
He quickly answered, "Mr. Amos, so late—what instructions do you have for me?"
"Who is leading the fund project in cooperation between Qingzhou and Yunda?"
Zhao Haotian hastily replied, "Sir, it’s me. Rest assured, I’ve personally inspected this project to ensure there are absolutely no issues."
The projects designated by Mr. Amos are always immensely promising. Ever since losing the opportunity to cooperate with Tianlu Bank last time, Zhao Haotian had steeled himself for a comeback. To avoid disappointing Mr. Amos again, Zhao had personally traveled to Qingzhou and meticulously conducted inspections for this project.
"Is that so? Regarding the bank’s LP entrance fund, what are your thoughts?"
Without time to consider how Mr. Amos knew everything so clearly, Zhao Haotian quickly replied, "Are you referring to Yongrui Fund? The company is quite qualified. President Lei has no objections, and neither do I."
Thinking of something suddenly, Zhao Haotian grew wary: "Does this company have a problem?"
"Then of course we need to inform the bank to avoid future complications. With the current investment scale of the project, finding new LP partners wouldn’t be too difficult."
"About Manager Zhang, who is responsible for the project on the bank’s side—what’s your impression of him?"
Taking a moment to recall which Manager Zhang was being referred to, Zhao Haotian finally matched a face to the name. Yet, he still couldn’t grasp Mr. Amos’s intentions.
"This Manager Zhang is a diligent and hardworking individual, very proficient in financial operations—quite excellent."
Zhao Haotian, who had encountered countless people, genuinely found Manager Zhang’s sincerity and simplicity rather disarming.
He mused that if more companies employed people , prosperity would be within reach.
Still, he knew that Mr. Amos wouldn’t casually mention such a minor figure—there must be something more.
"When will the contract be signed?"
"The inspections have been completed. Once legal matters are coordinated, it’s almost settled."
"Sir, there’s a dinner tomorrow evening. All the top executives involved in this project will be attending. If you’re available, would you...?"
Shen You’an hung up. Just as he prepared to sleep, a friend request popped up.
The profile picture was a vast starry sky, and the username consisted of a single word—forever.
Message: I am Gu Bichen.
Shen You’an glanced at the time—11:35 PM.
He shut off his phone, tossed it aside, turned over, and sank into sleep.
Early the next morning, Gao Yuyue started bombing him with phone calls.
Resisting the urge to block her again, Shen You’an put his phone on silent and tossed it aside.
Zhang Jian was busy in the kitchen, and Shen You’an walked in to lend a hand but was shooed out by Zhang Jian.
Leaning against the kitchen doorframe, Shen You’an asked, "Uncle, you’re not going to work today?"
"The project inspection period is over; I get a day off."
"How about we throw a housewarming party tonight? Invite aunt and cousin over—it’s perfect to share the news of our move."
Zhang Jian shook his head. "Can’t do, I have a very important dinner tonight. Let’s do it on another day."
Shen You’an narrowed his eyes. "Uncle, where’s the dinner? If it’s late, I can pick you up."
"You have school tomorrow, don’t worry. I’ll be fine."
Shen You’an wasn’t usually one to act spoiled, but when he did, Zhang Jian couldn’t resist.
"I remember there’s Qingzhou’s biggest astronomical observatory near Wangyue Building. You might get a chance to see a meteor shower tonight."
Zhang Jian laughed. "Really?"
"Uncle, remember to wear the suit I bought for you to tonight’s dinner."
"Alright." Zhang Jian responded with a smile.
He had already noticed the two suits hanging in the wardrobe. Since Shen You’an had removed the tags, Zhang Jian assumed they were ordinary ones and hadn’t thought much of it.
It wasn’t until almost noon that Shen You’an grabbed his phone again and discovered thirty-eight missed calls from Gao Yuyue, which had drained the phone’s battery down to 1 percent.
If he didn’t block her, it would be unfair to her persistence.
Just as Shen You’an began charging his phone, Gao Yuyue’s call came in again.
Shen You’an answered.
"Shen You’an, I’m at Zhongzhou Square near the sculpture. Someone’s harassing me—ahhh—come save me!"
Before Shen You’an could respond, she hung up.
If she called again, he’d shut off the phone directly.
Frowning slightly, Shen You’an decided to call the police instead.
In case it was just a prank?
He tossed his phone aside, picked up the book on the table, and started reading.
Not even a word in, he suddenly tossed aside the book, grabbed his phone and jacket, and left.
"An’an, lunch is almost ready. Where are you going?"
Zhang Jian poked his head out of the kitchen to call out.
Without turning back, Shen You’an replied, "Don’t wait for me—I’m meeting a classmate."
Holding a ladle in hand, Zhang Jian couldn’t hide his surprise.
These young kids were always surrounded by friends; even Zhang Tianci had a few lively companions. But An’an had always been solitary. Zhang Jian had been quite worried.
Now, it seemed An’an had a good classmate—finally.
It was the weekend, and the square was crowded, filled with a dark mass of heads.
At the center of the square near the sculpture, Shen You’an looked around.
Suddenly, someone tapped her shoulder, followed by a girl’s laughter ringing in her ears: "I knew you’d worry about me."
Turning around, Shen You’an saw a girl standing gracefully in a mint-green dress, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. A silver crystal hairband added to her elegance and sophistication.
Not even the sunlight could match the intensity of her gaze.
Shen You’an turned to leave.
Gao Yuyue hurriedly caught up and grabbed her arm: "I was wrong—don’t go."
Like a rascal, she clung to Shen You’an’s arm.
Head aching, Shen You’an sighed, "Forget it; I brought this upon myself."
Knowing she might be lying, he still came out.
Because he didn’t want to take the chance.
Grinning mischievously, Gao Yuyue clung tighter to Shen You’an’s arm: "You promised me yesterday you’d come with me to Xiao Jing’s birthday party. You can’t back out."
Shen You’an raised an eyebrow.
Nervously, Gao Yuyue added, "I’ll cover your food for a month."
Shen You’an cast her a sideways glance: "In your eyes, am I really that stingy?"
Gao Yuyue’s expression seemed to say, "Worse than I imagined."
Grinding her teeth, Shen You’an retorted, "Two months."
Gao Yuyue finally broke into a triumphant smile: "Deal."
She gave Shen You’an a once-over and shook her head in disdain.
"Dressed ? Absolutely not. I’ll take you to get geared up—you’re guaranteed to dazzle the entire class."
With that, she dragged Shen You’an straight to the mall across the street.
