Chapter 127: Chapter 127
Just then, the phone suddenly rang, and Shen You’an took it out to glance at the screen.
It was a strange number from Qingzhou.
She answered the call and held it up to her ear.
"Shen You’an?" A familiar female voice came through the phone.
"Gao Yuyue, what do you want?"
"Didn’t you say I could ask you about any problems I didn’t understand anytime? Well, I have one now. Where are you? I’ll send a driver to pick you up."
She had the audacity to be so self-assured while asking for help. Shen You’an had no time to play along with this spoiled princess.
"Your tutor would surely be delighted to help you with that."
"Shen You’an, you’re not keeping your word," Gao Yuyue huffed indignantly.
"I’m not a servant of your family who has to obey you. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up."
Without waiting for a response, Shen You’an ended the call abruptly.
Gao Yuyue tried calling back, but the call remained blocked.
She laughed in exasperation, "Shen You’an, you actually dared to block me?!"
The more she thought about it, the more her anger boiled. Gao Yuyue grabbed her bag and stormed out of the house.
"Yu’er, where are you going? Let the driver take you!"
Her mother came chasing after her, calling out.
"No need, I’m meeting up with a classmate."
Her mother hurried over with an umbrella. "The weather forecast said there might be showers today. Take an umbrella with you."
Gao Yuyue stuffed the umbrella into her bag without looking back, waved dismissively, and ran off.
Her mother watched her figure disappear into the distance and shook her head with a helpless smile. "This child, always in such a rush."
"Madam, Assistant Lin just called. He said the sir has landed and is meeting with advertisers to discuss business. He won’t be back for lunch," a servant approached and said respectfully.
The woman’s smile gradually faded as she adjusted the shawl draped over her shoulders. "Got it."
Gao Yuyue fanned her nose with both hands, her face full of distaste as she surveyed the messy surroundings.
By the base of the wall, several elderly women sat holding palm-leaf fans, chatting idly while swatting mosquitoes with their fans.
These autumn mosquitoes were the absolute worst.
A delicate-looking young girl came walking toward her, and the grandmothers, sensing she was a stranger, greeted her warmly. "Little girl, are you looking for someone?"
Gao Yuyue lowered her hand from her nose and coughed lightly. "Hello, grandmas, I wanted to ask, where does Shen You’an live?"
The address listed in Shen You’an’s information only specified the alleyway but not the house number, making her search rather challenging.
As soon as they heard Shen You’an’s name, the grandmothers grew cautious from their years of experience.
"Why are you looking for An’an?"
After all, the drama with Zhou Qin’s affair had caused quite a stir in the area. That day, she had even been caught in bed by Zhang Jian. The couple had fallen out spectacularly, putting on quite the ugly show.
Zhang Jian wanted a divorce, but Zhou Qin was clinging shamelessly to prevent it. Rumor had it they were going to court over it, and Zhang Jian was absolutely determined to end the marriage.
All in all, the Zhang family had become a complete mess, the biggest joke and topic of gossip over meals this month.
Zhang Jian had either been too humiliated or for some other reason hadn’t been back for ages. Shen You’an, who had been a boarding student during middle school, was rarely seen, but Zhou Qin—well, she’d given up entirely. Just last week, she’d almost gotten into a fight with a vendor at the market over a measly twenty cents. With her despicable deeds, she had become an object of public scorn.
The girl standing there now looked about the same age as Shen You’an, decked out in jewelry and finery—clearly raised in a wealthy environment.
Could she be here to stir up trouble for An’an?
Gao Yuyue flashed an agreeable smile. "I’m An’an’s classmate. I have some academic questions I wanted to ask her. Grandmas, could you kindly tell me?"
When it came to sweet-talking elders, Gao Yuyue was a natural.
"Oh, you’re An’an’s classmate, huh? Well... Look, Chuchu’s back. She lives downstairs from An’an. You could just follow her."
Gao Yuyue turned around to see a skinny girl walking up. The girl had single eyelids and slightly prominent cheekbones, which gave her a rather sharp appearance.
"Chuchu, An’an’s classmate is here looking for her. Since you’re heading that way, why not take her with you?"
Lin Chuchu frowned and gave Gao Yuyue a quick glance, then pursed her lips. "You’ve come to the wrong place. Shen You’an doesn’t live here anymore."
The girl’s tone was stiff and mannered, leaving an unpleasant impression.
Gao Yuyue hurried after her. "Then do you know where she’s living now?"
"Ha! She’s a rich person now. This little alley can’t accommodate such a big shot anymore."
Last night, she’d overheard Zhou Qin talking to someone over the phone.
Gao Yuyue inhaled deeply. "Can you just speak properly?"
Lin Chuchu glanced at the girl’s fair, beautiful face, noting every detail from her meticulously styled hair to her designer shoes. Her dress and bag were the latest high-end models, exuding elegance with the grace of a swan—a stark contrast against the backdrop of the run-down alley.
