Chapter 44: Chapter 44
Farhan was blank. He didn't know what to say to that line. 'Just like how you still love Haya. Yes.' And it was driving him insane. Why was the thought of Natasha loving someone else bothering him so much? Why? He had no answer to that. But the actual question was, did he still love Haya? Maybe a tiny little corner of his heart still has feelings for her, but for the past two weeks, she hasn't crossed his mind as she used to every time. He had other things to distract him and even now, thinking about Haya doesn't make him feel sad.
That probably meant one thing; he was moving on from his first love. Haya didn't affect him the same anymore. And that made him feel glad. Yes, he was glad. Glad to let go of the feelings which didn't do anything but hurt him.
But there was this little corner of his heart, which was feeling things which he shouldn't be feeling. Natasha is still in love with her lover and why the hell was he feeling angry about it?
"Why did you agree to marriage when you're so in love with that guy?" Farhan didn't care if his voice sounded bitter because he wanted to know. It's getting into his head and he had no idea why.
"It was a one-sided love you see, the guy never knew that I loved him. It was better that way." Natasha smiled sadly, as she looked out of the window once again. The hot wind and busy road were more fascinating than Farhan's curious questions. She wasn't sure if she could lie to him any further. But she will never let him know that it was him, who she loves like a madwoman.
"Why didn't you tell him? You could have tried, at least there wouldn't be any regrets." Farhan couldn't help but ask, she snapped her towards him and smiled. It was one of those rare smiles which Natasha used when she wanted to mask her emotions, she was a pro at it now.
"He loves someone else and I couldn't risk my friendship with him, So I kept quiet. Maybe I should have tried, but I'm sure that it would have caused a lot of regrets if I've confessed. I'm better this way."
Farhan gave her a blank stare. He had no idea who this woman in front of him anymore, she is not his best friend Natasha. She's changed a lot. For good or bad he's yet to know.
"You haven't properly answered my question yet."
"What?"
"Why did you marry, when you were so in love with someone else?"
"I-I was tired. I was tired of constantly getting hurt and expecting him to look at me in the ways he'd never look. I wanted to forget everything and start afresh. Maybe I thought marrying someone would have helped me. I married because I wanted to be loved and cherished. I wanted to feel what it'd be like to be loved by someone, who I'd call mine. But guess, I'm not lucky enough?" she smiled bitterly and turned her gaze away leaving a dumbfound Farhan. He was speechless and shocked by her reply.
"Who is he?" Farhan wouldn't lie, he was so curious from the past three weeks to know who was this mystery guy.
"Why are you so interested in my love life suddenly?" Natasha snapped at him, angrily.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." Farhan looked away, and the rest of the ride went in silence, neither of them spoke anything. The drive continued in silence.
Suddenly the car came to a halt taking Natasha off guard, she keeps looking at her surroundings in confusion as it's neither a shopping mall nor a cinema theatre as she thought it would be. Disappointment washed over her. But her eyes further widened in surprise, when Farhan opens her side of the door and gave her his hands. She looked at him reluctantly and when he noticed that she isn't giving her hands anytime soon, he took it on his own and made her get down.
Natasha stared at him wide-eyed as he closed the door with his other hand and pressed his keys to lock the car. She felt that weird tingles in her stomach as she eyed their intertwined hands. Gosh! His hands were so big in front of hers, it looked almost like he was holding a baby's hand.
She followed him behind with a ridiculous smile plastered on her lips, whilst continuing to eye his hands, which held hers. She was almost about hit a wall because of not watching where she was going and bit her lips. That was a nice save.
Stop being a fool, nats.
"Where are we?" Farhan now turned to face her, as he grinned ear to ear.
"This." he smiled whilst eyeing the small villa in front of their eyes," is going to be our new home."
Natasha gasped at this news.
Only then she properly observed where they were standing and her heart went in awe just by looking at the view in front of her.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Farhan smiled in relief, as he saw that goofy smile on her face. He was almost scared that she wouldn't like it because of his annoying questions asked in the car.
"It's cute. So perfect. A-are we going to live here?" Natasha still couldn't come to terms with this news. It was so unbelievable. The villa was everything that she would call a dream home. The outer view itself has taken her breath away.
"Yes, it's closer to your college and my boutique. Win-win. And I really loved this place, hope you'd like it too. Shall we?" he asked with a nervous smile and she nodded her head eagerly. Here pretty green-eyed showed how excited she was and that made him equally excited.
"Open it." Farhan gave her the keys and she grabbed it almost instantly and opened the main door. Natasha hasn't seen a prettier house before. Because this one was so freaking beautiful.
"Don't even ask, because I don't have enough words to tell you how gorgeous this place is. Where did you find this masterpiece, Farhan?" his ears turned slightly pink at her compliment.
"Let's explore." he didn't even have to tell that as she was already doing the same; exploring every nook and corner of the house with that crazy grin on her face.
Did she like it that much?
"I love this kitchen and I'm so excited to cook all types of delicious food." just the thought of it was making her excited.
"I know, you're a great cook. But let's see the bedrooms now. Come on." as though it was very casual, he held her shoulders from behind and pushed her out of the kitchen. Natasha was feeling goosebumps with his every touch. damn, why did he have so much effect on her? And from when did he get so causal about touching her like that?
Natasha's feelings were in haywire as he held her hands once again and took her upstairs, she followed him behind like a lovesick fool. Which she actually was. His hands were super comfy and she'd hold it the whole day if given a chance. She really would.
"Here you go... How's it?"Farhan grinned as they entered the master bedroom, which had a walk-in closet and en suite bathroom. Along with a cute little balcony. She nods in approval. It was a really great room. Adding furniture will make it more complete.
"It's good. But where is my bedroom?" the grin on his face was replaced with a frown as she asked him that question.
"Did I ask something wrong?" she was genuinely confused and he took an inward sigh.
"Nats. I know, I've been a jerk to you regarding this whole marriage thing but I want to rectify it all. We were both once crazily in love with someone and now stuck in this unwanted marriage. But it cannot go on like this forever, right? And I wasn't sure if I was capable of loving someone other than Haya. But now I'm moving on. I really want to move on and maybe you should move on from your lover too."
It's you dumbo. Rolling her eyes mentally, she stared at him.
"So?" she asked.
"I want to give this marriage a chance."
REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?
"You're joking right?" Natasha laughed hoping it was some kind of a joke because she has lost the hope he'd ever consider this marriage.
"I'm not." he deadpanned.
"Unbelievable."
"I know. But this is a forever relationship and I want us to give this a chance. This must be a shock coming from me. I'm not telling that we should rush into things. But we can take it too slowly you know. Super slow. Maybe starting from this bedroom, we can live in this together, like how a husband and wife would." Farhan smiled nervously and only Natasha knew how she managed to keep a straight face. Because from inside she was freaking out like a crazy woman.
WHEN ARE WE SHIFTING HERE?
"Slow you mean?" She smiled, making sure it wasn't too wide or too small.
"Yes, super slow." he grinned.
"Alright then." AL-FREAKING-RIGHT! is what she wanted to yell. This was surprisingly the best day in her life. She hadn't even dreamt of it. But life is full of surprises and this was the best-est one and nothing could ever beat it. Or so she thought.
