Chapter 41: Chapter 41

*Ajay Mehra Pov*

“I need to tell you something.” Jiya said when I lay on our bed.

“What is it?” I asked her frowning.

“I am dating someone.” She replied, and I looked at her wide eyed.

I took a deep breath and asked, “From when?”

“From two weeks.” She replied.

“But you are still my wife right? Why are you dating already and whom are you dating?” I asked her not at all believing it, but it was hurting.

“We are just talking to each other for now, but will go on a real date soon. I know I am still your wife, but you said you will give me whatever I want right?” She asked staring at me in blank expression.

“Right! But there are still two more weeks for the time to end. So please don’t do this.” I said pulling her in my arms.

“Why?” she asked, hugging me back.

“Just wait until these two weeks.” I replied.

“Ok! I will not meet him until these days.” She said nodding, and I continued to hug her not leaving her at all.

I thought we were fine when we had that movie marathon two weeks back, but looks like she was disturbed that day for the decision.

She has been dating for two weeks? And I don’t even know about it. I am so stupid.

From the next-day onwards, I didn’t let her stay away from me at all. I didn’t let her talk to anyone on the phone always keeping her busy.

“So what do you want to do today?” she asked typing on her phone after one week.

“We both will hide our phones and not touch them for two days.” I replied, and she nodded after a few minutes.

We roamed all around Ahmadabad and then spent time home completely in silence. We didn’t leave a single thing from doing.

“We are getting late. Where is my phone?” she asked and I gave her phone when I also got ready.

“Thank god!” she said and immediately started typing.

The next week I tried to flirt with others so that she will get jealous, but she didn’t even glance at me.

“What happened to you, Mr.Mehra?” Lily asked when I tried to flirt with her.

“Nothing! I am sorry about my behavior.” I replied walking away.

Jiya, Jiya! You are killing me. Do you know that? I reckoned frowning and walked outside the cabin in the evening to see her talking on the phone laughing.

“Ok! We will meet tomorrow night.” she said hanging up.

“Where are you going tomorrow?” I asked her finally not able to stop it when we both lay on the bed.

“My date.” She replied, closing her eyes.

“But... I asked you to.” I trailed off not knowing what to say.

“I know! And tomorrow is the last day Ajay so it will not matter. By the way, select a dress for me tomorrow.” She said, still with closed eyes.

“I am busy.” I mumbled.

“What? But tomorrow is Saturday and there is no office.” she said opening her eyes frowning.

“Who is the guy?” I asked her frowning.

“Surprise! But you will meet him tomorrow.” She replied, smiling and drifted off into sleep.

The next day I saw her running around the house sitting on the bed. She wants to finish all the work so that she can get ready properly.

“Ajay! Which one is good?” she asked, standing before me holding two dresses.

“This one!” I replied, showing the red one.

“Thanks!” she said walking inside the washroom, but not before kissing my cheek.

When she walked outside the room and started getting ready I fidgeted with my hands. She was so oblivious of my reactions.

We both heard a knock on the door, and she turned saying, “I already cooked the dinner for you. Have it and sleep if you want to sleep early.”

“Jiya.” I said, stopping her from leaving the room.

“Yes?” she asked directly looking into my eyes.

I didn’t say anything but pulled her into my arms and hugged her tightly like this is the last one we will ever have.

“Do you want to say anything?” she asked in the hug.

“All the best.” I replied, and she sighed.

“Bye!” she said, leaving the room when I released her.

I followed her and saw him when she opened the door. I should have already known that he is Raj.

He is looking quite happy seeing her and they both hugged. They left, closing the door while I rubbed my temple.

This is it then. I thought and started packing my clothes after I had my dinner which she made. I don’t think I will ever be able to have it again in my life, so I tried to eat as much as I can.

I paced in the living room deciding whether to write something or tell her directly. I rubbed my forehead when I heard the front door opening.

“Where is he?” I asked her.

“He left! He has some important thing to do.” she replied and sat on the couch closing the door completely.

“What are you still doing without sleeping?” she asked after settling properly.

“How was the date?” I asked her.

“He found out who he loves and wants to propose soon in a good way.” She replied smiling.

“What? You both were dating right?” I asked her frowning.

“Yes! So what are you doing in your work clothes?” She asked frowning.

“I am leaving.” I replied.

“What?” she asked me shocked.

“In a few hours, the six months time will finish, and then I don’t have a right to be here as per our deal.” I replied walking inside the bedroom and walked out holding my luggage.

“Do you know Malathi? The receptionist in Mumbai?” she suddenly asked, making me frown.

“Yeah!” I replied, confused.

“She likes Raj.” She said.

“So?” I asked her frowning.

“Raj was already heartbroken because of some college friend.” She replied.

“I am not understanding.” I said, staring at her.

“He needs a rebound because a serious relation may scare him off. And also she should come forward and accept her liking.” She continued.

“You both acted?” I asked her shocked.

“Yes! We both acted and he is going to propose Malathi tomorrow.” She replied smiling.

“You! You gave me a heart attack.” I said, holding her neck.

“Sorry, sorry! I thought you would be fine, because you said I will meet someone, and you are here to make me date someone or accept that not everything is bad. So I want to give you the satisfaction that you did it.” She said, and I leaned back.

“Ok!” I said, and she started telling me how she got to know about Malathi’s crush from the social network site.

Then she made Raj talk to her like a boyfriend as he needs someone to practice with. So finally when they were at dinner, Malathi called him and said she likes him.

Raj got happy and immediately left dropping her here. I sighed, leaning back on the couch and saw that with all this, talking it is already 12.

“Time’s up, Jiya.” I said and stared at her, but she just cleared her throat and looked everywhere.

“I will leave then. We will meet tomorrow morning at my office, even though it is Sunday to talk.” I said, getting up and started walking towards the door.

“When I went inside the restaurant, I thought only one thing ‘I should tell Ajay how amazing the place looks and need to come here with him’.” She said, and I frowned tightening my grip on the bag.

“When they brought the food we ordered, I thought I should cook this food once for him this week. Then I started thinking about your favorite dishes.” She said chuckling.

“That is because...” I started to say, but she cut me off saying, “I know, I know!”

“That is because we are living together for these past six months and more than one year before. We may kind of get used to each other. Blah, blah, blah. I know the practical answer you will have for this. As you rubbed that trait on me, I too thought the same.” She added and sighed.

I placed my forehead on the door and held the knob. She took a deep breath and said, “You became a part of my life, my thoughts and I also know you will have some extra stupid practical answer to it. You may even suggest us to stay little separate and think.”

“I don’t know what to say.” I said turning the knob.

“Ajay!” she said, and I stopped opening the door.
