Chapter 58: Chapter 58
6 years old
"Jason, Iris is crying." A young girl sighed.
Jason groaned, "Okay, Clarissa."
The six year old pulled himself off of the ground and crawled over to where his baby sister was crying.
She was carefully wrapped in blankets and laying on pillows. The pillows and blankets that he once used as a bed.
He gently picked the small, one year old up and gently rocked her. He sighed as she started to fall asleep again, wrapped in warmth. Once she was sleeping, he placed her back down.
"I wish mommy and daddy were here, Iris." He whispered.
He crawled back over to his spot and curled up on the cold ground. Across from him, Clarissa frowned.
"Jason, maybe you should take one blanket and one pillow from her. She doesn't need all of that."
Jason shook his head, "I have to keep her warm and comfortable. I'm fine."
Days passed as Clarissa and Jason were forced to work. Not a day in her life was Clarissa beaten, Jason took all of the hits. She was his only friend, even though she would often pick on him herself. He was desperate to have one friend, to show her that he can be a worthy friend. To stop her doubts.
Clarissa would only walk away, not bothering to lend a helping hand to him after the werewolves left. Jason still smiled when he saw her though and still protected her.
That was who he was, he had hope that maybe he would be able to escape one day. To raise a family of his own and watch as his sister grew up, free from the horrors of slavery.
At the end of the day he took bits of his meal before making sure his sister was comfortable. He then curled up on the ground again and fell asleep.
Telling himself that not all werewolves are like this. That someone from the pack will eventually help him.
Like he had promised his dad, he wouldn't lose faith in that belief.
7 years old
"Iris, you can't say that." Jason whispered, giving his two year old sister a stern stare.
Iris frowned, "But they are meanies."
"I know, but not all of them are like this." He smiled.
"How do you know?"
"Daddy said so."
Iris didn't argue as he carried her from the room he had just finished. He silently closed the door before turning to leave the packhouse.
He stopped when the alpha's son, Ryan, showed up. Flanking both of his sides were his friends, Zachary and Dylan.
Ryan's eyes shined with hatred as he glared at the young skin-walker. Iris' grip tightened on her brother's shirt, already knowing they were going to hurt him.
Jason carefully placed her down and told her to find Clarissa. Iris frowned at her brother, but she knew better than to argue when Ryan was around. She quickly ran away, disappearing around the corner.
Ryan chuckled, there was a glint in his eyes. He slowly circled the shaking Jason, eyeing him up as if he were his prey.
"You should have died with your parents." Ryan sneered before lunging at him.
Kick after kick, punch after punch, was delivered as Jason laid there. After a while he had enough and fought back.
Ryan immediately growled and yanked the kid up by his hair. He bared his human teeth before slamming Jason into the wall.
The skin-walker let out a scream of pain, blood started to pour out of his nose. Ryan then threw him across the hallway, smirking when his body slammed into the marble floor.
Jason attempted to climb to his feet, but Ryan was too fast. Zachary and Dylan quickly grabbed him as Ryan started punching him again.
Once again, Jason fought back, still not learning the lesson. Ryan growled and slammed the seven year old's face into the ground. Blood was smeared on the floor and Jason's face.
Ryan then yanked him up and went to hit him when a male's voice sounded.
"Ryan, leave the piece of shit alone. You have lessons to attend to."
Ryan sighed, "Yes, father."
The three wolves watched as the alpha walked away, ignoring the bleeding child. Ryan smirked as he focused on Jason again.
"Hope you learned your lesson, skin-walker. The more you fight back, the more painful the beatings become."
With that, the three walked away. Laughing at the skin-walker.
10 years old
Jason groaned as he lifted himself off the ground, he tensed up when he felt hands on him. He spun around to see his sister and Clarissa giving him concerned looks.
"Are you okay?" Iris asked.
Jason sighed, he swayed a bit before grabbing onto a tree.
"Yeah, just hurts." He mumbled.
Clarissa frowned as she wrapped her arms around him and helped him walk back to their rooms. Iris followed behind them, focusing on her energy.
"Iris, don't." Clarissa quickly warned as she heard the buzzing of the five year old's magic.
"Why not?" Iris pouted.
"Because, they'll kill you."
Clarissa softly laid Jason down, she immediately started tending to his wounds. Iris closed their door, she then knelt beside her brother.
She closed her eyes and focused on using her magic to heal him. It took her five minutes to heal every wound on his body, by the time she was done, she was on the verge of passing out.
Clarissa quickly caught her and carefully laid her down. She sighed, she frowned at her friends. She felt guilty for those few years that she hasn't helped him.
He had protected her every single day and all she did was turn her back on him. Not anymore though, they were now a team. All three of them.
She made a silent promise to always be by his side, no matter what. She just only hoped that he would soon realize that werewolves are dangerous and disgusting creatures. That his father had lied to him.
The next morning Jason quickly got to work, knowing he had to get everything done by the time the neighboring pack arrives.
It took him three hours to make sure the packhouse was spotless, when he was done he moved onto the fields.
He plucked the cotton and gave it to Clarissa and Iris. As he was going through the fields he heard someone screaming. He immediately took off and sprinted into the forest.
He skidded to a halt when he reached the river, his eyes widened in horror. The young girl was struggling to keep her hold on the overhanging branch, her wide, brown eyes, were filled with fear.
He quickly climbed down the rocky cliff side before carefully climbing the tree. Once he reached the girl, he held out his hand.
"Grab on!" He shouted over the water's roars.
The girl glared at him with disgust, "I am not touching a skin-walker!" She spat.
It stung his heart to hear those words, but he ignored it.
"Please! I don't want you to die!" Jason tried convincing her.
The girl looked around, she sighed in defeat when she saw he was her only hope. She reached up and grabbed onto his hand, wincing in disgust.
Jason ignored her facial expressions though and pulled her up. Both of them carefully made it back to land before climbing up the cliff.
"Stella! Oh, honey, there you are!" An older woman gasped.
She pulled the young girl into a hug and kissed her on the head. Jason was leaning against the tree, trying to will the pain in his shoulder to go away. He looked up to see the alpha staring at him.
"You get lunch today, as your reward." He alpha snapped.
Jason swallowed, "Thank you, alpha."
That night, Iris and Clarissa had to heal him once again. For, multiple werewolf kids had beaten him once again.
15 years old
"Hey, dumbass!"
Jason sighed as he turned to face Ryan. He didn't say anything as they shoved him into the lockers. All he did was question himself on why he bothered trying to get an education.
Ryan and his friends continued beating him until they got bored. The floor was covered in his blood, but Jason no longer cared. He was used to the pain and the blood. This was his everyday life, get beaten then get back to work.
He pulled himself up and grabbed his bag, he then numbly walked back to the packhouse. He walked into the basement to see his sister and Clarissa picking at their meals from the night before.
They looked up, their dull eyes were filled with sorrow as they studied him. Jason felt horrible when he saw the dullness in his sister's eyes.
She was only ten, she was supposed to be having fun. This wasn't fun, this wasn't even living.
He sat down, he wanted to say something, but he didn't know what. He was losing his hope in escaping, he was losing his hope in surviving.
He had thought about killing himself so many times, but he couldn't just abandon his sister and Clarissa. He couldn't leave them defenseless. If he was gone then no one would be here to protect them.
He had tears in his eyes as he pulled them both into a hug. Both girls were stunned, but quickly hugged him back.
"I care a lot about you guys." He mumbled.
He wanted to say that he loved them, but he didn't know how. He didn't even know what love is. He wondered if his parents loved him.
He told himself that they did, but it was so long ago. He couldn't remember anything. He only remembered their deaths and what his father told him.
His father said they loved him, but he wanted to know what love meant. He didn't understand it. Any of it.
18 years old
Jason stepped into the alpha's office, quiet and emotionless as always. The alpha looked up and stared at him with disgust.
"Where's Iris?" He asked.
Jason frowned, "Why?"
The alpha smirked, "You know my mate is cheating on me. I need release and your sister is hot."
"She's thirteen." Jason growled, disgusted with the alpha.
The man frowned, "Does it look like I care? She'll be nice and tight."
Jason felt sick at the sight of lust in the alpha's eyes, he could smell the alpha's arousal.
"Go get her for me." He ordered.
Jason clenched his jaw, his hands clenched into fists. Hot anger coursed through his veins, his sight was red with rage.
He let out a growl and lunged at the alpha, quickly shifting int a very large coyote. He landed on the alpha and tore out his throat without hesitation. His muzzle was covered in blood, but Jason loved it.
Wanting to have intercourse with his thirteen year old sister was the last straw. He was beyond disgusted with the man. If he could even call him that.
He looked at the alpha's dead body and felt happy. He shifted back and chuckled, he then used his magic and teleported himself to the basement.
"Both of you, pack blankets and pillows and a change of clothes. We're leaving." Jason quickly ordered.
Clarissa frowned, "What? Why?"
Jason took a deep breath, "I killed the alpha."
Miles away from the pack's borders, they finally stopped. Jason turned around and smirked, he could hear the pack's howls of sorrow as they found their dead alpha. He could see the whole territory from their spot, he smiled even more. He watched as the wolves ran through the trees, thinking they'll catch them.
However, they stopped at their borders, letting out disappointed whines.
"What do we do now?" Clarissa asked, standing beside Jason.
Jason sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "Go join the other skin-walkers, form an army, and end the werewolves."
Iris frowned, "But you said we can't judge their whole race on this one thing."
Jason sighed, "I know, but I change my mind."
"Dad said-
"DAD LIED!"
Iris flinched away from him, Jason released a frustrated breath. Hot tears of anger rolled down his cheeks.
"He lied." He whispered in a broken voice.
He closed his eyes, he calmed himself down before facing his sister.
"We're going to kill every single werewolf, no matter what it takes. I can never care for another one, again." He growled.
