Chapter 73: Chapter 73
“We are here.”
Zagan whispered in my left ear before removing his palm from my eyes. I blinked my eyes multiple times. The cold floor beneath my feet and the magnificent edifice that stood in front of my eyes confirmed that we had reached the place where Diana was held captive.
Not able to control my excitement further, I looked at Zagan before screaming in delight, “So, where’s Calix-”
But before I could speak further, Zagan covered my mouth with his palm, he looked horror-stricken.
“Don’t shout Rose. Kiora is here. We’ll be a lump of dead meat if she finds us.” He berated me.
Oh yes. It slipped my mind. I nodded at Zagan making him sigh in relief. He then removed his palm and grabbed my waist to support me as we both headed to the door.
But the place was eerily quiet. I couldn’t help but tremble as our legs covered the distance. I so badly wanted to run away but I have given Arthur my word. Calix had warned me not to leave the mansion but I went against him, helped Kiora, and fell into George’s trap, endangering everyone’s lives.
‘THUD’
‘THUD’
My heart jolted in fear hearing a loud crash that came from the southern side of the palace. I looked at Zagan who looked equally petrified. Nevertheless, we dragged our legs to that spot. The first thing I saw was a broken huge mahogany door. Keeping my fears aside, I moved forward and found Kiora standing at the entrance. Her hands were crossed over her chest and there was a sly smirk on her face as she stared ahead. Loud crashing sounds were coming from inside the room which I guess was the duel going on between the best friends. And this retard was watching the show like an onlooker. There was a sadistic satisfaction on her face.
I peeked at Zagan whose eyes held rage and disappointment. I could understand him well.
He must have felt my eyes as he lowered his head and made eye contact with me. I smiled at him and squeezed his hand.
‘Don’t worry. Everything will be all right.’
I mouthed to him earning a smile.
Ignoring the cacophony going inside, we tiptoed to the corridor to find a safe way that could help me reach Cal. Suddenly my eyes fell on a window. I tugged Zagan’s shirt to grab his attention. He looked at me. I pointed my finger toward the passage that could help us reach them.
Zagan didn’t look pleased with my suggestion. “You won’t be able to get in there without getting noticed.”
“But we don’t have any other option, do we?” I retorted. He nodded but didn’t remove his hands from me as he was still in a dilemma.
“Zagan? You need to leave me.” I tried to sound assuring.
“No okay.” Zagan finally snapped at me. His glare made me flinch. Sighing, he then rubbed his forehead, irritation was visible on his face.
I grasped his hand in mine. “Don’t worry Zagan. We only need Cal’s attention. I can’t reach him but I am sure once he sees me, he would try to reach me. And I can bet that no matter how hard Kiora tries to get him away from me or stop him from approaching me, he won’t let me go.” I said and flashed him a smirk. Zagan looked at me in shock.
Well, it’s the truth. Initially, we had decided that Zagan would attack Kiora which would attenuate the power of the spell so that Cal wouldn’t harm me and I can easily cure him but now it’s not possible. Kiora is deliberately standing there, blocking the path so, the only way to make Cal feel my presence is through confrontation. If I can’t get through the door, I will use the window.
“He-He can attack you, Rose. He’s under spell.” Zagan spoke worriedly.
“Enough of crapping around. Let’s go.”
Despite his rejection, I grabbed his hand and dragged him to the window. One of the glass panes was cracked. Clutching it gently, I opened it and peeked inside. There I saw my Demon clouting Zac like a maniac. Both of them were soaked in blood from head to toe but none of them was ready to surrender.
All of a sudden, my bracelet struck the glass pane making a clanking sound. I quickly withdrew my hand but it was useless as the very next moment, the eyes of both the males were on me.
My world stopped when I took in Calix’s disheveled appearance.
Blood dripped down his forehead and mouth, tousled dark hair that was falling over his eyes that were glaring in my soul, and the throbbing veins on his neck and forehead have him a ghastly appearance. He looked monstrous, ready to kill.
All my virago disappeared in thin air as soon as I made contact with his blood-red eyes. But what got me troubled was that he wasn’t doing anything.
He was simply staring at me which wasn’t a good sign.
“YOU!! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU BOTH DOING HERE!!”
My heart lurched in my throat when I heard Kiora’s shrill from behind. She caught us. I looked at Zagan whose face lost shades.
Shit, what should I do?
I looked at Calix impatiently waiting for him to pounce on me but he was still as a statue.
I was frenzied. Zagan quickly pulled me to him and aimed his sword at Kiora who was marching in our direction, fury visible in her eyes.
“YOU FUCKER!! YOU GOT THE GUTS TO DEFY THE PRINCESS OF DARKNESS!!” Kiora shouted and raised her hands in the air. My eyes widened when I saw a white flame oozing from her right palm.
I have to do something. But what I can do to stop her-
Hold on.
I turned my eyes back at Calix who was still looking at me blankly while holding Zac by his collar.
Should I give it a try?
It’s not like I have a choice either.
Mustering up some courage, I scooted closer to Zagan and gripped his shirt tightly between my fingers while my eyes were still fixed on Calix.
The sudden change in his countenance startled me. His eyes which were cold as ice a few minutes before suddenly turned dark. His expression hardened and his jaw ticked.
A beam of hope rekindled in my heart.
It’s working.
I am surefooted about my plan as Calix is too possessive of me. That’s the reason why I have decided to walk on fire. Though he is under spell, still he won’t be able to ignore me. That too in someone else’s arms.
My ears perked hearing Kiora shouting at Zagan. She was upset at him because her brother chose her enemy’s side. But their argument gave me time to think about my next move.
My heart was hammering in my head. I was shaking out of fear but it needs to be done.
Finally, I pulled my last card.
I slowly encircled my arms around Zagan’s waist and leaned onto him. I was rejoicing in my mind but my actions put someone else in trouble.
Zagan grabbed my hands and started praying them off him.
“R-Rose, I love Jasmine. Stop it.” He spoke while looking at Calix in horror who was shooting daggers in our way.
But I just wanted it to be done so I leaned my head on his back. I then looked at Calix who looked shocked by my actions but what I said next blew his top.
“I love you.”
That was the last straw.
His sapphire hues blazed with fire and the next moment; I was pinned to the wall with his hands around my neck.
“AHH!!!”
A blood-curdling scream left my mouth. His fingers which were coiled around my neck started squeezing the life out of me.
“C-Cal-” I tried to speak, tell him that it was me but his lethal grip hindered my efforts.
Pulling me towards himself, Calix leaned on my face. His hot breath pierced my skin like needles. Tears blurred my eyes. I could see a faint image of his incensed face as he ground his molars in rage while suffocating me to death.
Kiora on the other hand was exhilarated. She walked past Zagan and jogged to us.
“YES, KILL HER CALIX. BREAK HER NECK LIKE A TWIG”, she said while eyeing me evilly. I glared at her but my eyes popped out when Calix tightened his grip.
‘Oh my God, he’ll kill me today.’
I quickly grabbed his wrists.
“C-CA-CAL, IT’S ME. YOUR ROSE!!” I spoke while imploring him through teary eyes. But he was unfazed. Calix slowly leaned closer, and my eyes closed on their own when I felt his lips brush mine.
“Y-You love me, Cal.”
My voice cracked while tears rained down my eyes.
“I-I know I never reciprocated your feelings but I also don’t deserve such a big punishment. We need you, Calix. I need you. Your friend needs you. Come back to us.”
I said and looked at him. His gaze was still empty but thank God, he wasn’t strangling me. Only had me pinned on the spot.
Kiora panicked when she saw Calix doing nothing. She came near us and shot me a death glare before reverting her eyes to him.
“DON’T LISTEN TO HER CALIX. I AM YOUR MASTER. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FOLLOW MY ORDERS. KIL HER THIS INSTANT!” She yelled like a mad woman.
Her voice tore Calix from the trance. His pupils dilated a bit making me panic.
I tried to touch his cheeks but he slapped my hands midway. His action knocked Kiora off her feet as she started cheering him, “YES, NOW KILL HER!”
I shook my head in denial and looked at Calix who nodded at Kiora, his lips twisting in a smirk.
“Of course, I will master.” He breathed near my lips. His husky voice turned my knees weak.
With that, he tightened his grip on my neck and was about to lift me from the ground when I grabbed his collars and without thinking twice planted my lips on his.
Calix froze on spot. I kissed him with equal fervor while tears kept embracing my cheek.
I might regret it. I know but it feels so right now.
My heart twitched painfully when he didn’t respond. Detaching my lips, I cupped his face in my palms and looked into his eyes which were staring at me in shock and disbelief.
“I love you, Cal. I know I realized it late and I apologize for that but I can’t live without you. You might think that I am again pulling a fast one but you know what? I am tired of running away from the truth. I hate you but at the same time, I can’t live without you. I want you but at the same time, I want to run away from you. It’s your fault for messing up with my mind but now when I need you the most, you are abandoning me. You are failing to recognize me”
I said and soon anger coursed through my veins. The memories of him kissing me, making me feel special, and then forcing me to accept him started playing in my mind.
Tearing his hands away from me harshly, I gave him a hard slap on his right cheek. His jaw dropped but I didn’t give him time to steady himself and grabbed his collars before pulling him near my face.
“YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL ME HUH?? AND FOR WHOM?? THIS BITCH!! YOU DRAGGED ME AWAY FROM MY HOME, MADE ME A PART OF YOUR LIFE FORCEFULLY AND WHEN I NEED YOU RIGHT NOW, YOU’RE GONNA JUST LEAVE ME LIKE THIS!! HOW COULD YOU??” I shouted and started punching his chest unleashing my wrath.
Surprisingly he let me hit him but I was so mad that I failed to notice it.
A scream left my mouth when Kiora pounced on me all of a sudden and grabbed my hand before twisting it behind my back.
“STOP IT YOU BITCH!! STAY AWAY FROM MY DOG!” She growled and shot me a cynical smirk while wringing my wrists.
“HOW DARE YOU BITCH!!” I shouted back.
My blood boiled when she abused Calix like this. Grabbing her wrist with my other hand, I dug my nails into her flesh making her shriek in pain. She snatched her hand away and smacked me.
The impact was so strong that made me see stars. My back collided with Calix’s sturdy figure. A new set of tears stained my cheek as my cheek throbbed with pain. I could even taste copper in my mouth.
But Kiora didn’t stop there. She again tried to hit me. I screamed out of reflex and hugged Calix, burying my face in his chest.
“YOU PATHETIC VERMIN, HOW DARE YOU HURT A BLUE BLOOD!!”
Kiora yelled from behind. I huddled more to Calix and squeezed my eyes shut when I felt her hands on my hair.
I was shaking like a leaf, praying for my life, praying to God for bringing Calix’s memories back.
I anticipated her attack but to my surprise, nothing happened.
My brows joined together in confusion at the sudden silence that crept into the room. I lifted my head and looked at Calix whose eyes were already set on me.
“Cal-what?”
Whispering I broke the hug and turned back but what I saw next snatched the ground beneath my feet.
Kiora was lying on the floor, covered in her blood.
I gasped in shock and looked up only to see Zachary standing there, his sword drenched in blood.
‘H-He killed her?’
Still not believing my eyes, I turned to Zagan who was staring at Kiora’s lifeless body with hollow eyes. There wasn’t even a tinge of sadness on his face. As if he was prepared for it.
“Don’t feel bad, Rose. She deserved to die.”
My ears perked up at his deep voice. I was about to turn to him but he beat me to it as he grabbed me by my waist and swirled me around. I grabbed his shoulders for support and looked at him, my mind was still in denial.
“Cal, y-you’re back.”
My voice sounded so foreign to my ears as I was traumatized by the macabre view my eyes just saw.
Calix didn’t answer me. Instead, he grabbed my nape, and before I could understand, his lips came crashing into mine.
My eyes turned to the size of saucers when Calix started devouring my lips. He was practically eating them. Sucking, and biting them, he started bruising them making me yelp.
I raised my hands in the air which caught his attention. Hurt flashed in his bewitching eyes which soon got replaced with shock as I encircled my arms around his neck and pulled him for a deep kiss.
This time I don’t have any regret. I had given him my heart and I am ready to annunciate it.
His tongue licked my entrance to which I readily opened my mouth giving him access to ravish me. Pleased with my docility, Calix prodded his tongue inside and coaxed mine to play along. Our tongues danced in ecstasy and joined the fray of dominance.
I pushed his shoulders when I started getting out of breath. Calix got the hint and my heart swelled as this time he didn’t force me. Giving me an open mouth kiss, he detached his lips and rested his forehead on mine. We both panted crazily.
After catching our breaths, Calix lifted my chin with his index finger but I didn’t make eye contact with him. The kiss that we shared was so intense, passionate, and raw. We both poured our love and our feelings into it. It was pleasurable but at the same time embarrassing too as I completely forgot about Zachary and Zagan who were watching us like onlookers.
“If you’re done then can we proceed further?” Zachary chided us from behind making me blush profusely. I hid my face in Cal’s chest which reverberated as he snorted and hugged me.
Calix then put me down and helped me stand. I turned to Zachary and smiled.
“Thanks for saving me and freeing Calix from the spell,” I said and then looked at Cal. Guilt hit me when I stared at his red cheek. Caressing it, I tiptoed and gave him an apologetic peck. I shouldn’t have hit him.
“I am glad you’re back.”
Calix smirked and pulled me towards himself before speaking in his deep voice.
“I never left Princess.”
