Chapter 60: Chapter 60
Zachary’s P.O.V.
Silence.
Emptiness.
Despair.
Darkness.
That’s what my life had come to ever since my Princess left me. She didn’t just leave but took away my happiness, hopes, and dreams along with her leaving a corpse behind. That is simply breathing and dwelling in...
Regret.
Pain.
Sorrow.
My life turned back to square one. The naïve Angel introduced the sybarite who only relished in others’ fears, whom only money and power could gratify to the new and beautiful colors of life. Gave him a new hope to live only to leave him in a lurch one day. The castle which used to echo with her chirps and croons today has turned silent as a dead. It was also missing its Queen and cursing me as my foolishness and over-possessiveness turned her home back into ruins.
Visiting Pratus Dynasty was a wrong move as Zagan and Kiora had already escaped by the time I reached there. They were nowhere to be found, perhaps had hidden in their holes. But after my rage simmered down, I realized what the fuck I was doing. What would I gain by killing them? Nothing. I wouldn’t get my Princess back.
Dejected, I returned home and locked myself up in my room. Her scent was still in the air which was enough to soothe my senses. Walking to the closet, I picked up her white gown in which I had seen her first and padded to the bed.
Settling myself on the floor, I leaned my back on the bed and smelled her gown.
It was all my fault.
Calix was right. He had always been right. My insecurities pushed Diana to take this step. If only I had trusted her, if only I had believed in our love, if only I had listened to her, things would have been better today. My Princess would have been in my arms, smiling and caressing my hair just the way she used to do.
“I do love you, Zac. I do care for you. Why are we breaking apart like this? Our love can’t be that weak.”
“Everyone is against our marriage, our love. They even told me that it’s all infatuation but I never paid any heed to them but you are so evil.”
“You only shout at me while I bent over backward for you. I only do things to make our relationship stronger but you keep chiding me.”
“If I am this stupid, then why don’t you leave me??”
She complained, cried, and begged me to understand her but I being an asshole kept taking advantage of her love. She chose me over her family and stood beside me even when I only hurt her still, I kept forcing her to prove her love to me.
A sad smile crept on my lips while reminiscing our sweet memories. Suddenly a small streak of moonlight hit my face which forced me to close my eyes. I followed the source only to find the moon streaks peeping from the dream catcher.
Tears welled up in my eyes.
Princess had gifted it to me.
Flashback
That fucker Zagan was planning on usurping my kingdom. I even warned his father that I can get him executed on charges of insurrection and infraction but that fucker even jettisoned his father’s pleas. I just can’t fucking understand how he became so presumptuous all of a sudden? The man who was even afraid to look at me had now grown the balls to trifle with me. But what’s peeving me more is how that bitch Kiora became so powerful all of a sudden?
I am so frustrated. We haven’t been able to defeat them yet.
I think now it’s time to do away with him and his poor excuse of a sister.
With these thoughts in my mind, I entered the room and locked it. Turning around, I was confronted with the flawless back of my gorgeous wife as she was facing the window. Her busied hands indicated that she hadn’t sensed my presence yet.
“Princess”
Diana flinched when I wrapped my arms around her tiny waist and flushed her in my chest. But to my dismay, she immediately turned around, pushing me away with her shoulders, and hid her hands behind her back.
My brows joined in confusion as she looked skeptical. “What’s with that look?”
Diana shook her head vigorously; her eyes were still staring at me in shock.
“Princess, show me your hands.” I raised my voice and shot her a stern look.
She broke into a cold sweat. “I-I. Okay, but first close your eyes. Only then I will tell you.”
My jaw ticked.
“Diana.”
“Please,” she pleaded. Sighing, I closed my eyes in defeat.
“Now open your eyes.”
I obeyed her words but instantly my gaze turned into a disbelief shock.
“Ta-da,” Diana exclaimed while waving a beautiful circular object in front of my eyes. But her smile eventually fell when she noticed my expression, “You don’t know what it is?”
I shook my head in denial.
Biting her lower lip, she then shifted her eyes to that unique yet fascinating item before looking at me, “It is a dreamcatcher. I made it for you.”
My jaw dropped.
It was so beautiful. I was astounded by her art. I opened my mouth to praise her but she started rambling in panic.
“I-it’s okay. If you don’t like it-”
I immediately cut her off by capturing her lips in a passionate kiss. Diana stumbled back but I held her waist and with another hand, I grabbed the back of her head to deepen the kiss.
Pulling away, I stared at her flustered face and smiled.
“Thanks love. It’s beautiful. I am sorry but I had never seen this before so you know, I-” I trailed off as I was embarrassed. Diana let out a giggle. She tiptoed to my level and pecked my right cheek.
“It’s fine. At least now you know. Dreamcatcher is considered a carrier of good vibes. You see this hole in the middle, it filters out the evil energies and repletes them with positive vibes. Nowadays you’re too tensed because of Zagan and work day and night to protect your kingdom. You can barely sleep at night so I thought to make this for you. My dreamcatcher will help you give a sound sleep and would protect you from that witch.” Her voice turned bitter by the last.
My lips curved in a smirk as I know to whom she was referring.
“So, my baby wife is trying to protect me. How cute,” I snickered and boop her nose.
Diana nodded while her innocent eyes stared at me softly, “Of course. I must protect my husband. You are taking so much pain for me. The least I can do is to bring a smile to your face.”
Her words strummed the strings of my heart.
I am so lucky to have her.
Diana then detached herself from me and tottered to the bed. She climbed onto it to hang the dreamcatcher on the wall.
Smiling to myself, I then headed to the couch and removed my cape and sword.
“So that’s what you’ve been doing behind my back? Making gifts for me.”
I spoke while unbuttoning my shirt. My happiness knew no bounds. No one had ever cared for me the way my wife does.
But my happiness didn’t last long when she uttered the next words.
“I have made one for Moon Prince too. He must also be distressed nowadays. I don’t know why he is giving me a cold shoulder but I am sure there must be a reason for it. If you liked my gift, then I am sure he would also.”
Diana exclaimed and jumped from the bed. Rushing to the couch, she picked up another dreamcatcher and showed it to me.
“See, isn’t it beautiful? Maybe after this, Moon Prince would again start talking to me.”
Sadness loomed all over her face. I saw how her eyes turned glossy but I couldn’t bring myself to console her.
Because I was jealous.
And I am not even ashamed to admit it.
Scoffing, I turned my back on her and gritted, “Give him mine too. I think that would be enough to appease your Moon Prince.”
Tossing my shirt away, I stormed towards the bathroom but was stopped midway when Diana abruptly jumped on me. Clinging to my back like a koala, she wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck.
“Sorry.” She muttered and snuggled her face in my crook.
My heart swelled at her adorable act but I didn’t give in. I wanted to tease her more.
“No. Get off me.” I spoke gravelly and grabbed her arms to peel them away but she only tightened her hold further.
“No, please don’t. I am sorry. I won’t give him any but don’t be mad.” She started to cry.
A loud sigh escaped my lips. What am I going to do with her?
My gaze then landed on her creamy legs as her gown was lifted. Caressing them, I then headed back to the bed and gently placed her on the mattress. I then turned around and pulled her to me. She also huddled onto my lap without any ado and buried her face in my chest.
I patted her head, “Okay, stop sniffing. I forgive you.”
She instantly looked at me and chirped, “Really? Then can I gift it to Moon Prince now?”
My eyes narrowed, “Did you just trick me?”
Diana paled and gulped, “Huh? N-No, why would I?” She started blabbering but clammed her mouth after earning a glare.
Defeated, she buried her face in her small palms and snuggled into me, “I am scared of your anger. Please, don’t get mad at your wifey.” She spoke incoherently but I heard it.
My lips twitched in a smile. The feeling of her soft skin pressed onto my rough one was a huge turn-on.
Diana jolted hard when I slipped my hand inside her gown and grabbed her rear firmly. She looked at me, two pink dots appeared on her chubby cheeks as I started to massage her rear.
“You don’t want me to be mad at you?” I rasped while my fingers toyed with the waistband of her undies. Yelping, she grabbed my shoulders for support and bobbed her head repetitively.
Collecting the hem of her gown, I lifted it to her waist and circled her legs around my torso, “You want me to grant you permission to meet Rose and Moon Prince?”
Her eyes lit up by the mention of her best friend, “Yes.”
Removing her tresses to the side, I pulled the zipper of her gown down while looking straight into her eyes and spoke, “Do you want to give your cute gift to your Moon Prince?”
Her eyes fluttered as I pulled her gown further baring her round, mellow busts to my hungry eyes. Her ears turned red when I flicked her hard nips with my fingers. A shuddering breath escaped her lips as I ran my tongue on the seam of her lips and snaked it down to her neck.
“Yes please.”
She spoke hoarsely. My pants tonked when I stared at her scarlet face.
‘Damn. What a sight.’
My jaw clenched. “Then quench my thirst.”
With that, I ripped her gown and tossed her onto the bed.
End of Flashback
A lone tear escaped my eye.
We were so happy in our small world until I decided to control her life and ruin everything.
I lost her.
I really lost her.
My Angel.
“PRINCESS!!!!”
End of Zachary’s P.O.V.
Zachary let out an agonizing scream and threw the silk gown away. Jumping onto his feet, he grabbed the bed sheets and started tearing them like a maniac.
“It’s all because of me. How can I hurt her?” He mumbled, his eyes shedding endless tears.
“Zac”
Calix entered the room while panting heavily. He was with Orkus downstairs when he heard Zachary’s screams. His heartbeat escalated as they all were too worried for him. Diana’s absence had affected his sanity.
Calix again called him but Zachary didn’t reply him.
Lifting his right palm, he then gazed at it for the longest time before whispering, “I hurt you with this Princess, right?”
Calix’s gaze softened noticing the distraught look on his face, “Zac, talk to me.” He spoke in a worried tone and tried to approach him only to freeze on spot.
“ZAC, NO!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”
His heart skipped a beat when Zachary suddenly pulled the bayonet that was tucked in his pant and tried to stab himself.
Calix ran to him and immediately held his arm, “DON’T DO THIS ZAC, PLEASE!!”
He tried to snatch the bayonet but Zachary pushed him back and pointed it at him, “STAY AWAY IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DIE!! MY PRINCESS LEFT ME!! THERE’S NO REASON FOR ME TO LIVE ANYMORE!!”
He shouted and slashed his palm. Blood gushed out of his palm but he didn’t even wince as the pain in his heart outweighed his physical pain.
Calix raged, “Would killing yourself bring your Princess back? You aren’t even trying to meet her and-”
“HOW CAN I MEET HER??”
Zachary cut him off and hollered, “She is in Heaven and all the portals are closed. There are no signs of Kiora or Zagan and I don’t know how to go there. Tell me what should I do? There’s no way I could meet her.”
His words left Calix tongue-tied.
Throwing the bayonet away, Zachary slumped on the bed with a thud and spoke ruefully, “I messed up everything Cal. I should have listened to you but I was adamant to take my revenge. I have hurt Diana, broken her beyond repair. I made her a part of my life, brought her to Hell by force but she left by her choice. But you know what, this time I would respect her decision.”
Calix looked at him. His eyes widened when he noticed the determination in his eyes, “W-What do you mean? You aren’t going to bring her back?”
He couldn’t believe his ears. But Zachary was unfazed and remained rooted in his decision.
“No. Maybe we aren’t made for each other. Ariel was right. I don’t deserve Angel. Our wedding was a mistake. Our love was a mistake but I am ready to amend my flaws. Now, I wouldn’t force myself on Diana. I wouldn’t exhort her to dance to my tunes. I wouldn’t expect her to please me by obeying my every command.” He affirmed while looking straight into his eyes.
Calix was flabbergasted. Sweat beads aligned his forehead watching his astute expression. Zachary was willingly giving up on her. The stubborn, selfish, and heartless Demon King was setting his Princess, the love of her life, his furor, and the reason for his survival free. He was giving up on her with a fight?
“How can you leave her Zac? She might be in a trouble. You know about Theodore. What if he tries to capture her?” Calix shouted as his patience slowly started to wear off. His indifferent countenance wasn’t settling well with him. But Zachary completely ignored his words and stood up. Padding to the mahogany chest of drawers kept beside the bed, he crouched on the ground and opened the last drawer.
“It’s good then. After all, he is an Angel not a demon like me. Maybe they would fall in love soon and he would help her move on.” He spoke, his voice was laced with pain. Rummaging through the stuff, Zachary then removed took the dreamcatcher that Diana had made for Calix and stood up.
“She wanted to give this to you.
Calix looked down at his hands and frowned, “What’s this?”
Zachary smiled while his obsidian eyes soon filled with heavy tears, “A gift which Princess made for her Moon Prince.”
Calix stiffened when he heard that endearment after such a long time. His lips got pasted together as he couldn’t make himself speak. He simply took the dreamcatcher from Zachary’s hands and stared at it.
Zachary let out a chuckle while wiping the corner of his eyes with his thumb, “I always used to turn grumpy whenever Diana called you Moon Prince. She would then go to the mat to make it up to me and the drama would end up with a passionate night. I would always reprimand her for not mentioning your name but it always used to slip her mind as she was so fond of you. I used to get so jealous as Diana can’t stop talking about how handsome you are. She loved me but was head over heels for your beauty and at that moment, I wanted to burn you alive fearing you might snatch my Princess away.” He laughed but Calix was quiet.
His heart turned heavy when Diana’s innocent face flashed in front of his eyes. He then shifted his eyes down and traced his fingers over the soft feathers that were dangling from the loop.
“It’s beautiful.”
Zachary nodded, “Indeed it is. Consider it as a souvenir of Diana.”
His words startled Calix, “Are you really planning on leaving her?”
Zachary immediately walked past him as he couldn’t bear to look in his eyes anymore. They were begging him to reconsider his decision and he feared he might change his mind.
Storming to the door, Zachary grabbed the knob and twisted it, “Yes, I am and now, I don’t want to hear anything about her.”
Grating out, he opened the door and left the room while slamming the door shut.
