Chapter 43: Chapter 43

A month later

Rose was in the garden, staring at the white lilies with empty eyes. The usual glow of her face was absent today and her beautiful smile was lost in the hullabaloo of the new world. Her life now seemed pointless to her. Her doleful face narrated her sorrow. Caged in the house of a Demon who claims to love her had only shattered her hopes to live again. She was simply breathing as Calix was mad for her. If she goes away from his eyesight, he goes crazy. She wasn’t allowed to meet Diana, and neither did she had the right to ask him about her sister, Jasmine’s well-being.

A tear slid down her left eye and disappeared in the verdant grass on which she was currently sitting just like the wails of her heart which were always suppressed by the man who promised to give her the whole world. She failed as a sister and as a daughter. She failed to fulfill her responsibility. She couldn’t keep the promises she made to her parents. And this fact was eating her alive.

Her relationship with Calix was only going down the hill. For the past few days, he had been extremely busy. As decided, Zagan had opened a war against Zachary and his spies were hiding everywhere in the kingdom.

It was because the Pratus Dynasty, the kingdom of Kiora had a very deep relationship with Binnazun Dynasty for years and since then the denizens of both the kingdoms have been living together in harmony. But after the war, the people of the Pratus Dynasty who had been living under the shelter of Orkus for decades turned against him to support their king, Jegloz, Kiora’s father, and had been killing the people of the Binanzun Dynasty in ambush. There was complete chaos going on in Binnazun Dynasty for the past one month and because of this Zachary and Calix were always tensed and bristling with rage. The reason behind this was their biggest mistake of considering their enemy weak who had come fully prepared unlike them.

But their troubles weren’t limited to only this. Both the demons knew that those bloodthirsty monsters will definitely come for their hidden treasures, their beloveds and this thought had deprived them of their peace. By now the news of two Angels living in Hell had spread its claws in all the kingdoms. The demons of the Binnazun Dynasty respected their Queen and had accepted her but the neighboring and rival kingdoms were going berserk by this news. Zachary had always been a sore eye to them and now they got a good point to overthrow him. But they had also set their eyes on his innocent and drop-dead gorgeous wife and were planning ways to get inside the royal palace and hunt her down. That’s why Zachary had tightened the security around his mansion and also around his room. And as for Calix, he had built a protective shield around his palace to keep Rose safe.

But his possessiveness and over-protectiveness weren’t letting the girl breathe. He would come home frustrated and unleash his anger on her for pity issues. The denizens of the Prtaus dynasty living in the Binnazun Dynasty were in millions as they have been living here for decades and had now become a part of his kingdom so identifying and bifurcating them was an extremely difficult task. Calix was working with an iron fist but his missions kept failing because of Kiora. She was the Princess of Darkness and the most powerful witch of Hell. She was adept in black magic and defeating her was nearly impossible. Kiora had even enchanted many people of the Binnazun Dynasty and got them assembled in her army. Once the brother and sister would get their hands on some soldiers of Zachary’s invincible army, Zagan would force them to reveal the hideouts and safe places of the Binnazun Dynasty. He would then send his army from the same passage to launch attacks on various places.

The situation was getting out of control with the passing days. Calix being the minister and the lead warrior of the royal family had to deal with Zachary’s rage and encourage his soldiers who were getting depressed by their continuous failures. By the end of the day, all these tensions would take a toll on his sanity and he would take out his frustration on the innocent girl whom he had held captive in his house.

Her eyes welled up with tears when her mind flashed with his wicked deeds. Rose slowly lifted her right hand and traced her fingers on her bruised neck. She hissed in pain when her finger accidentally touched the two purplish and swollen holes on her neck. And with a flash of lightning, the memory of her receiving these marks stuck her. Her chin wobbled and fat dollops of tears rolled down her eyes when she recalled the incident which threw her in a loop of despair.

Flashback

Three weeks before.

Rose’s P.O.V.

I was in my room, pacing back and forth. My body was shaking in fury but my puffy eyes were enough to depict my misery. Tears of impuissance, pain, rage, and self-pity kept running down my cheeks as I was tired of dealing with the things which I never wished to happen in my life.

Calix had promised me weeks ago that he would let me meet Diana if I cooperate. Which meant to obey him and adjust to his sadistic ways. Though it was tough for me, still I swallowed my rage as I didn’t want to let go of this only chance. Meeting Diana was too important for me. Even though Calix had told me thousand times not to worry for my sister, deep down in my heart I knew that she must be in great trouble. I had spent more time with Theodore and George than Jasmine because of Diana. I even knew about Theodore’s crush on Diana and was well aware of his egoistic self. He must be punishing my poor sister for not being able to get the girl of his dreams. I told her to let go of her stupid obsession but she never listened to me. And now her infantile acts had endangered both of our lives.

I am for sure mad at her but still, I can’t help but worry. She has no one except me. My child must be undergoing humiliation, loneliness, and pain every day in that golden cage. But what saddens me more is that I can’t do anything for her.

Theodore must be giving her a hard time and for George, he is a gone case. A spoiled, rich, ornery kid who can even destroy the world for his stubbornness. My baby sister is trapped in between those two lunatics. And I am not able to do anything. I hadn’t slept peacefully since I came to Hell as my heart kept wallowing for Jasmine who was caged and was staying all alone with a group of strangers who only see people like us as filth.

There hadn’t been a single day when I slept without fighting with Calix for Jasmine. But after some days I realized that maybe things were out of his hands. Thus, the only option left for me is to meet Diana. She could convince Zachary to do something to open the portals and unite me with Jasmine.

So, I had to agree to Calix’s conditions but that jerk didn’t leave this opportunity to get closer to me. He would touch me, kiss me and shower me with expensive gifts. He did everything he had dreamt for his wife and I had to accept it unwillingly for the sake of my promise. But this agreement was only for a week.

It’s been three weeks now and still; he didn’t let me meet Diana. And when I would confront him, he would shut me up by giving me absurd reasons.

“Your efforts don’t look genuine to me.”

“You’re only doing things to save Jasmine.”

“You need to make me believe that you love me.”

“You have to love me the way I do.”

Anger coursed through my veins when his smirking face flashed in front of my eyes. I grabbed the vase kept on the table and threw it against the wall.

I am done with his nonsense. I knew he is doing it on purpose. None of them are understanding my troubles and are simply taking advantage of my helplessness. I have no expectations with those two demons but Diana, she is also showing no effort to contact me. She is enjoying her love life and probably had forgotten about the fact that I was once her friend. Though I am putting up hard to meet her, I know she would never do something which would upset Zachary.

But I can’t just waste my time and beg for their help, wait for these lords to show mercy to me and my sister. I have to save Jasmine at any cost and no one can stop me now.

With a new ambition, I wiped my tears and started heading toward the door. Twisting the knob, I opened the door only to reveal an exhausted Calix.

“Hey, love.”

Flashing me a tired smile, he raised his hand in the air to touch my face when I moved back which made his smile drop.

“What happen?“, he asked me innocently. My blood boiled at his audacity.

‘How can a person be this shameless?’

But I didn’t voice out my thoughts as I can’t afford to waste my precious time on this insane man anymore. So, I simply ignored him and walked past him.

“Wait, where are you going?”

I heard him but I kept moving forward.

“FUCKING STOP RIGHT THERE!!!”

His growl boomed through the hall. My heart almost burst out of my ribcage when I heard the sound of his fast footsteps approaching me. I immediately started running towards the main door.

“NO!!!”

I screamed my lungs out when an arm was wrapped around my waist and in the next moment, I was lifted off the ground.

“LET ME GO!!!!“, I screamed and tugged his hair as he threw me on his shoulders like a rag doll and made a dash to the bedroom.

All the air was knocked off my lungs when I was thrown on the bed harshly. And before I could recover from that shock, he hovered over me and pinned my both hands on top of my head.

“Remember, you brought this on yourself.”

He seethed on my face but my heart dropped to my stomach when my gaze landed on his bare, white fangs. I started thrashing in his hold but he only tightened his grip further and buried his face in my crook. I jolted when I felt him inhaling my scent.

“Please Calix, I am sorry. I won’t do this again.”

I screamed, cried, and begged him but that beast showed no mercy. He started peeping feathery kisses on my neck but it was only scaring me more. I didn’t feel any butterflies in my stomach as this is how a wolf pampers his prey before devouring it.

I tried to free my hands from his vice grip but a scream escaped my mouth when he lifted his head and looked at me. My mouth turned parched as I looked into his sapphire eyes and the swollen, black veins on his neck made me retch. He looked horrible and ghastly.

“N-No, please don’t.”

I whimpered and tried to scoot backward which was useless as my strength was no comparison to this hulk.

Calix leaned forward; the back of my hair stood up when his hot breath fanned my lips. I instantly turned my face to the side in repulsion.

“This will be the best for us,” he muttered to himself. My brows joined in confusion. I tilted my neck back slowly to face him.

But my eyes turned to the size of saucers when I gazed at the corner of his lips which twitched upward as he flashed me his signature devious smirk.

“Now you won’t be able to leave me”, he spoke in a spooky tone and dug his fangs into my neck.

The next moment, an ear-piercing scream was heard in the mansion as he closed the door of my last hope.

Depriving me of my freedom, forever.
