Diana looked at Rose with curious eyes but was only met with a deadly silence.
Not to disturb Zachary’s peaceful sleep, Diana requested Calix to drop her at her abode which he gladly accepted. Throughout the journey, he kept singing praises of her and thanking her for saving Zachary and his kingdom. Diana only smiled in return cause deep down, a storm of fear that was deterring her from signing her life to Zachary was viciously clawing at the gates of her heart.
The poor angel barely slept for an hour last night. Zachary’s red-rimmed eyes, murderous face with all those black veins that were popping out of his body, and the way he was snarling at her through his sharp fangs were still fresh in her mind. The past encounter had left a huge mark on her heart making her a nervous wreck. Diana was in dire straits and wanted someone with whom she can share her thoughts. Not having the courage to break the heart of her family who was on cloud nine with her marriage preparations, she opted to come to Rose for her rescue. But that didn’t prove to be the right choice.
Rose was frightened to her core after Diana narrated the entire story of her visiting Hell and meeting the Devil King to her. She was well aware of Diana’s love for Zachary and was happy for her friend but this sudden news vacillated her belief.
She flinched when Diana grabbed her hand and squeezed it, “Please say something.”
Rose finally looked into her blue eyes that were desperately waiting for her answer, “I don’t even know Di what to say anymore. All I can say is I am worried for you. Are you sure you can spend your entire life with him?“, she spoke earnestly.
Diana was taken aback by her words, “What do you mean?”
Rose heaved a deep sigh. She then grabbed Diana’s hands in a soft grip and started to explain to her.
“See Diana, I know you love Zachary but marriage is not a joke. We Angels are no doubt warriors but our ethos includes softness, gentleness, compassion, politeness, and elegance, something which you will never find in Devils. Do you remember our childhood days when we used to rank the princes of all the kingdoms?“, she let out a giggle making Diana smile.
“I used to judge them by their looks but your conditions were too different from mine. You always prioritize males who have gentlemanly manners, are courteous, and are full of principles just like you. I can understand that Zachary loves you a lot but not even the universe can change the fact that he is a bloodthirsty monster. His world revolves around wealth, power, dominance, sex, and loves to desecrate the purity of the universe and consume all the happiness and love-”
“ROSE!!!” Diana immediately cut her in midway and snatched her hand away.
“Don’t forget you are talking about my future husband!! I won’t tolerate you bad-mouthing him. This is disrespectful not only to me but also to the Devil King,” she chided her.
Rose scoffed, “So what? I am sure if you narrate these bilious fables to your family, they would also start despising him and would straightway cancel your marriage.”
Diana clenched her fists and shot her a glare but Rose didn’t back down.
“It’s the limit of stupidity Diana. That Zachary, he is taking advantage of your naivety and you aren’t even understanding my point. I was against Ariel earlier but now I understand why that woman was obviating you from entering that hellhole. For God’s sake Diana, open your eyes. It’s Hell that we are talking about. A completely different world that is the opposite of ours. Don’t destroy your life. I know it’s not that easy but we will find a way. Lord Ernest’s proposal is still in our hand and- WAIT, DIANA!!!”
But before she could complete it, Diana immediately opened the door and stormed of her house. Rose chased her back and grabbed her left forearm.
“Stop it, Diana. You can fool anyone, not me. I can see the fear in your eyes. Why are you sacrificing yourself?“, Rose couldn’t resist herself and shouted frustratingly.
“BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!!!”
Diana shouted back and glared at her with teary eyes. Rose agape as she didn’t expect her outburst.
“I know Diana but-”
Diana vigorously shook her head in denial, “No, you know nothing. I can understand your concern, Rose. I respect your words but Zachary, I can’t even imagine my life without him. I don’t know what has gotten into me but I can’t stop myself from worrying about him, I can’t stop my heart which always keeps thinking about him. I have seen how my rejection devastated him to the point where he was even ready to destroy himself. I know it’s dangerous but my love can heal him. I can change him”, she cried bitterly.
Rose was initially shocked by her words but soon her shock got replaced with anger as she raged, “HAVE YOU GONE INSANE?? ARE YOU PLANNING ON KILLING YOURSELF? YOU ARE A BABY DI, OUR BABY AND YOU VOW TO CHANGE THAT CANNIBAL WHO CAN RIP YOU OFF TO SHREDS IN A BLINK OF AN EYE??”
Diana shook her head in denial while sobbing hard, “I can’t live without him, Rose. I can’t even imagine my life without him. I can’t see him in pain. I can’t see him razing himself. I want you to give us a chance. Our love a chance.” She kept blabbering the same thing again and again as if she was possessed.
“STOP THIS LOVE CHANT!! THIS ISN’T LOVE, THIS IS SIMPLY SUICIDE!! YOU WILL RUIN YOUR WHOLE LIFE!! HE HAD JUST INFATUATED YOU AND GOD KNOWS WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO YOU?”
Rose bellowed on her face and gripped her both arms. She shook her violently to bring her to her senses, “I love you, Diana. Please, I beg you. Don’t marry him. You are just seeing what he wants you to see and believe what your stubborn heart and his obsession want you to believe but Di, I can see the future. I know you’re the Princess but don’t forget I am older than you. You respect me, don’t you? Won’t you listen to me?”
Rose kept shaking Diana who was crying like a child. Diana looked at her with bloodshot eyes and spoke sadly, “I came here for help, Rose. I thought you will make me understand and clear my doubts regarding my new life. Make me accept Zachary and teach me how can I change his ways. But here you’re trying to separate me? WHY ROSE, WHY??”
“Cause she has a death wish, Angel.”
Both the girls flinch hard and looked back only to meet a raging Zachary who was shooting daggers in their way.
Diana immediately shielded Rose behind her when she noticed his blood-red orbs that were glaring at Rose ferociously.
“Z-Zachary?”
Her voice cracked as she stared at him with wide eyes. Diana couldn’t even believe that he was standing there all the time and even eavesdropping on their conversation. And now she can’t even lie to save Rose. Diana then darted her eyes behind Zachary only to see a black-haired guy staring at them indifferently. Her eyes immediately lit up in hope. She opened her mouth to say something but Zachary beat her to it.
“Come here, Angel.” He growled. Diana shot him a helpless look but his fiery eyes and hard expressions left no room for argument.
“Please Zac, don’t do anything to my Rose.” She cried but her tears only fueled up his anger more. His jaw ticked as he snarled with gritted teeth.
“Don’t make me come there, Angel.”
Diana panicked when her gaze landed on the throbbing vein of his forehead. She bit her lips to stifle her cries and again looked at her apathetic Moon Prince who didn’t seem fazed by all this commotion.
Rose tightened her hold on Diana and yelled, “Go away. She won’t come near you anymore.”
Diana was startled but her eyes turned to the size of saucers when the calm and composed Calix marched towards them and tore Rose away from her in a flash.
Rose was flabbergasted when Calix all of a sudden leaped on her and grabbed her left wrist in a firm grip. He then looked at Diana who was staring at him in horror.
“M-Moon Prince please-”
She tried to string words but her fear and the last night’s bone-chilling incident forbade her from raising her voice at these two Devils. She flinched when an arm was wrapped around her waist and before she could understand, her back was flushed against Zachary’s hard chest.
“Come with me.”
Uttering those last words, they both instantly disappeared in thin air. Rose was too shocked to react. Her heart jumped when Calix gave a harsh tug on her wrist and pulled her to himself. She instantly placed her hands on her shoulder and tried to move back.
Calix let out a chuckle amused by her futile attempts, “You are too cute, sweetheart.” He spoke in his deep voice making goosebumps all over her body. Rose panicked when she stared into his dark eyes that were shamelessly raking all over her body.
She quickly pulled her silver bayonet that was tugged in the belt of her gown and hollered, “STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU MONSTER!!!”
Calix’s gaze instantly darkened. He gripped her hand that was holding the bayonet roughly and glared straight into her glassy eyes.
“Don’t you dare raise your voice at me, precious! I don’t like hurting beautiful girls.” He gritted and shot her a smug smirk. Rose winced in pain and started wriggling in his hold like a dying fish.
“YOU ALL CAN FOOL DI BUT NOT ME!! YOUR KING HAD BEWITCHED MY INNOCENT FRIEND BY PURPORTING AS HER SAVIOUR BUT I KNOW YOUR HIDDEN MOTIVES!! THESE ARE YOUR TRICKS TO SEIGE OUR KINGDOM BUT REMEMBER YOUR PLANS WILL NEVER BE SUCCESSFUL!! WE ANGELS WILL SACRIFICE OURSELVES BUT WON’T LET YOU DESTROY US!!”
Rose shouted while angry tears cascaded down her cheeks. Calix smirked and twisted her arm behind her back. She let out a scream when he pinned her hands behind making her arch her back. Her face turned scarlet when her bosoms rubbed against his chest.
“N-No please...“, Rose started crying miserably as she was appalled by their current position. Calix furrowed his brows. He was obfuscated as she was shivering like a leaf. Suddenly he felt something soft on his chest. He then looked down only to see her bosoms were squished against his rock-hard chest.
His lips slowly curved up in a sly smile. Calix gripped both of her wrists with one hand and pressed her fragile figure more towards his chiseled figure. Rose let out a shriek while her eyes kept spilling endless tears. He then cupped her wobbling chin between his long fingers and made her look in his eyes that were shining with pure desire.
“You need to filter your words before spewing them in front of me. If you know the devils so damn well my sweetheart then you should also know that you shouldn’t maunder in front of them. A better choice will ensure your safety but the worst choice will bring you dangers. And you surely invited one for yourself today, precious.”
He whispered near her lips while gazing deep into her soul. Her heart skipped a beat when a tinge of lust entered his eyes. On the other hand, Calix was mesmerized by that blonde beauty.
The softness of her flesh and that innocent gaze were driving him nuts. Her supple skin was inviting him to ravage her and her luscious lips were tempting him to suck and bite them till they bleed.
Rose whimpered and closed her eyes in defeat, “Please leave me”, she beseeched.
Calix felt a writhing in his heart watching her tears but his body was basking in the warmth of her soft, smooth skin. After staring at her for some time, he finally released the poor girl who was crying her heart out. Rose instantly jerked away from him and turned her heels around. Calix chuckled at her eagerness to escape him. He quickly grabbed her right forearm from behind and pulled her back.
“NO!! PLEASE!!” Rose screamed her lungs out when Calix grabbed her nape harshly and pulled her towards his lips. Her heart nearly stopped beating when his eyes turned sapphire and were gleaming with obsession, madness, and rage. Calix lowered his head to her level and sneered at her face in his raspy voice.
“Don’t think it’s over between us. From this moment itself you belong to me, Calix. Better ingrain this in your mind, precious. I used to come earlier for Diana but now I got my reason to visit this Heaven and I fucking love it.”
Rose let out a shaking gasp. Calix then leaned forward and peck the corner of her lips making her jolt in fear.
"See you soon, precious.”
He rasped and vanished in thick purple smoke after giving her the biggest shock of her life.
