Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Moonland

Diana was in her room, pacing back and forth while dwelling over her the things she had said to Zachary during their last encounter.

‘Did I go too harsh on him?’

“But it was necessary,” she chided her inner voice.

‘But his face fell on your words. It must have hurt his feelings deeply; don’t you think so?’

The crease in her brows ceased as her gaze turned glassy. She recalled how Zachary looked dejected and gloomy after hearing her sharp words.

“But it’s for his betterment. I can’t become a bone of contention in his family. This is not what my brother taught me. This isn’t what my parents taught me.” Diana again justified her actions which were posited on the morals and teachings of her family. Her inner self sighed deeply to which her expression again turned sour.

′You also know about Zachary. How much he is stubborn and madly in love with you. Are you still adamant about your decision? Don’t you think there would have been a better way of making him understand?′

Her steps halted. This hit her hard. Diana smacked her forehead.

“Of course it was. God! What the hell I have done.” She cried.

By now she has also become familiar with Zachary’s obdurate personality.

Suddenly her room was draped in a cloud of thick, purple smoke. Her eyes widened and she opened her mouth to scream but froze midway.

“Moon Prince?”

She was bewildered.

Calix was looking pitiful. His reddened eyes, dejected expressions, and long face. His powerful and dominating aura was nowhere to be instead he looked broken and helpless.

Diana immediately rushed to him and grabbed his hands.

“W-What happened?”

Calix was in a quagmire. He knew taking Diana to Zachary right now would lead to catastrophic results but if he doesn’t then Zachary would for sure destroy his whole kingdom. He had completely lost his mind and was going berserk, killing everyone who was coming in his way. Diana’s conditions and his parents’ rejection have taken a toll on his mental stability and he was now on a warpath. He had enough of both of them so now they both had to give him what he wants, either by hook or crook, Diana has to become his.

Calix looked at Diana with a pained expression, “I need your help, Angel. Only you can control Zachary now.”

His words made her stunned.

Diana shook his hands violently, “W-What happened to J-Zachary? Please tell me. Take me to him.” She implored while fat tears rolled down her chubby cheeks.

Calix gulped. That’s what was his ordeal.

He gently grabbed her shoulders and looked into her eyes before speaking in an earnest tone, “Listen Angel. You do know that Zachary is a Demon, right? He is not himself right now. For sure I had come here to take you with me. My brother needs you now but I am worried about you. I am afraid he might do something-”

But before he could tell her the reason, she cut him off.

“I don’t care. You said Zachary needs me, right? Then take me to him. Please, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have broken his heart. I was too harsh on him. I need to make it up to him. Please, Moon Prince, take me to him.”

Calix’s heart squeezed when he watched tears running down her rosy cheeks. Diana was blaming herself for Zachary’s state not even bothering to know the real reason. He was hating himself for being selfish but the situation was really out of his hands.

Calix simply nodded and grabbed her hands. He pulled her closer to himself and wrapped his large sapphire wings around her. Diana flinched when he covered her eyes with his large palm and completely draped her small figure with his heavy wings. He couldn’t risk making her watch the journey through Hell. Diana would be traumatized once she witness the carnage that was created by none other than...

Her soon-to-be husband.

Meanwhile

“GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME, BASTARD!!!”

A thunderous growl echoed as the man was shoved into the wall. With the speed of lightning, Zachary pounced on him, grabbed his neck, and started banging his head on the wall.

The Demon Prince had created huge destruction. The exquisite and lavish palace was completely ravaged and reduced to debris. Delphyne was escorted to a safe place because once Zachary loses his temper, it’s hard for him to distinguish between enemies and friends. His anger was the chink in his armor. One of his powerful and lethal weapons but at the same time, his biggest rival which could lead to his destruction.

Orkus had deployed the entire army to control Zachary but their strengths were incomparable against the invincible King.

“You think you can take my Angel away from me? WHAT MADE YOU EVEN THINK THAT!!!”

Zachary snarled making the poor man beg for mercy. He then took out his shiny golden sword and jabbed his lower abdomen twice. Blood was splashed on his face as the man died instantly on the spot. A bloodthirsty smile etched on his lips as he looked at his work and sighed in satisfaction. His ears perked by the sounds of metals clinking against each other. He then shot his head up and gazed at the other guards who were marching toward him. His eyes turned blood-red. He flapped his wings and lunged at them and started knocking them out with an unstoppable pace.

Zachary was not himself right now. His senses were blocked and right now, the entire world was his enemy, who wants to separate him from his Angel. Right now, he was living in his imagination, a world where everyone was hell-bound to separate him from Diana. Orkus tried too hard to bring him back to reality but his efforts went to the drain.

The poor guards cried and begged Zachary for mercy but they couldn’t escape the wrath of the Demon King. Zachary had nearly slaughtered half of his army and his father feared that today he might wipe out the existence of all the demons from his world.

“HE WILL KILL EVERYONE, GERYON!! WE NEED TO STOP HIM!! WHERE THE HELL IS CALIX??“, Orkus spat and looked at Geryon.

Geryon, Calix’s Dad was his closest friend and also the minister of his kingdom. He was one of the most loyal and wittiest men in his kingdom.

Geryon looked at the old man who was shaking his arm while staring at his son with terror-filled eyes,” Now you want Calix to bring Diana to rein in the bridle of your wild stallion when you’re the one who started everything in the first place.”

His words made Orkus freeze on spot but soon anger coursed through his veins when he decoded his frivolous remark.

“What the fuck are you trying to say, hmm? You do know that I am doing this for the sake of both of the kids. The universe would never give consent to the marriage of a demon and an angel. I don’t know about Diana’s parents but I love my son and I can’t afford to lose my only child.“, he spat.

Geryon frowned, “Then why are you calling Diana despite knowing that it can risk her life?”

Orkus sighed heavily and turned towards him, “Because I was out of options and tried my luck. Also, Diana would freak out once she confronts his real self which Zachary has been trying to hide from her for all these months. I want to see how deep is their relationship.”

Though his words were true, Geryon didn’t miss out on his sarcastic tone.

“So, you’re planning to test them?”

“Definitely.”

His reply turned him livid.

“The hell you’re doing Orkus? Here your son has lost his brain yet you are adamant about your decision. Your plan also can backfire. Zachary can end up killing her yet you send Calix to bring her here? Do you still want to separate them? You do know that once Zachary regains his senses, he will kill every one of us.”

Geryon spat. He couldn’t believe that Orkus was still planning to separate Zachary and Diana even after knowing how much she is indispensable to him.

Orkus narrowed his eyes at him, “Hate me as much as you want but I am only saving that girl. No father will try to portray his son in a bad light. You all are seeing the present but I don’t want to destroy the future just by fulfilling my son’s madness. Just look at that”

He pointed his index finger at the front making Geryon follow his gaze.

“Can you see this? This is the real Zachary. The Demon of Wrath doesn’t even know he’s killing his men for his stubbornness. Just imagine what will he do to Diana if she comes here? Right now, he is in his world and his propensity to violence can cause some serious harm to her. You all think I am a villain in their story that’s why I called Calix to bring Diana here. If he loves her, he will listen to her and if Diana loves him, she will control his rage. Whatever happens tonight will seal everyone’s fate.”

No sooner he had completed his sentence than he went flying back into the wall. Geryon flinched hard but his eyes widened to the size of saucers when he saw a ferocious Zachary beating his father mercilessly.

“YOU!!! YOU’RE THE ONE WHO TRIED TO TAKE MY ANGEL AWAY!! I WON’T SPARE YOU TONIGHT!!“, Zachary shouted as he hovered over Orkus and continued walloping him with punches. Geryon ran to him and tried to tear him away from a bloodied Orkus.

“CALM THE FUCK DOWN SON!! HE IS YOUR FATHER!!” He growled and tried to push him off but Zachary elbowed him on his face making him land on the ground.

“FATHER!!!”

At the same time, Calix appeared and grabbed his father who was coughing blood. His eyes blazed with fire when he looked at Geryon’s bruised face. Calix instantly stood up and grabbed Zachary by his nape. He roughly turned him around and smacked him hard.

Zachary was caught off guard so he fell straight to the floor. But soon his eyes completely turned dark and the veins on his neck popped out. With a jerk, he pushed himself to his feet and shot Calix a murderous glare when suddenly his eyes spotted a fragile and small figure who was standing right behind him.

Zachary narrowed his eyes to get clear but he froze when his eyes met with the familiar blue ones who were staring at him with teary eyes.

“Diana?”

“Z-Zachary?”

Diana was horrified by his ghastly countenance. Bloody veins were popping out from his neck. The white of his eyes had completely turned black and his iris had turned blood-red just like a blood moon that was shining in the night sky. A thin stream of blood was trickling down his lips and his face had blood splotches. She couldn’t believe he was the same, sweet Zachary with whom she fell in love.

Zachary remained rooted on his spot for some time when suddenly something flickered in his eyes. The corner of his lips tugged upwards as he gazed at her shivering form.

“I was planning on dragging you but you came in the Devil’s den yourself, Angel.”
