Chapter 28: Chapter 28
"Boss, as you requested, this is a document regarding Miss Miranda."
I sighed and grabbed the document. Daniel who was next to me also saw what was inside.
"Miranda Sinclair? Rainy introduced her as Miranda Claire as I recall,"
The document contained the data in detail and complete. Miranda is the eldest daughter with a younger sister named Aria Tamia Sinclair, who just turned seven this month. Their parents are Thomas Sinclair and Lana Sinclair. Both are founders of Sinclair Beauty- a company that built for women's beauty products.
I hadn't read all the way down, for a moment Daniel had snatched the document from me. "What the hell, Dan?"
Daniel focused on a few verses at the bottom of the document. Then all I knew was he started swearing a few times. He threw the document onto the table and then plopped down on the couch roughly. It made me curious, so I quickly read it it to the end.
"Miranda is a close friend of Lucas?"
"No wonder I've seen her!" Daniel groaned in annoyance. I knew his relationship with Lucas was never on the fine line. Lucas was the golden boy and Daniel was always considered a disaster for his family.
"Fuck!" Daniel was speechless.
I looked at the document one more time as I still couldn't believe it either.
"So Daniel Wesley, what do you think of this?" It was rare for me to see Daniel in such despair, so it was my turn to tease him.
"Why does every inch of my life have to do with Lucas? Oh God,"
I laughed, for some reason Miranda's personal data brought humor to me and bad luck to Daniel.
"I'm leaving now," Daniel got up from the couch. Yeah, we were currently in a different villa, the villa belonging to his family. "You really want to ignore Mabel?"
For a moment my throat felt dry making me gulp.
"I already know the answer to that. You'd better come with me to the beach club,"
"Again?" I asked, remembering the last time didn't end well. "I'm better here,"
Daniel laughed as he exited the villa.
Daniel hadn't changed since I met him for the first time. He was always having fun, looking for happiness that he couldn't find at home. I couldn't imagine the pain of him always being compared to Lucas, his older brother by his parents.
Lucas always beat Daniel in everything, he was even appointed as his father's successor to lead the company in the future.
My thoughts were interrupted by Daniel running inside screaming for me. "Adrian! Rainy called and said that Mabel and Miranda aren't anywhere!"
"What?" My heart suddenly stopped beating. I ran out to the car immediately. "How could that be?" I told my men to stay there while I was gone to watch her, especially since Rainy and Ashton were there before.
"Rainy and Ashton just got back from having dinner together,"
Damn, I should have known they were leaving the villa.
Our car drove back to the main villa at top speed. I couldn't stop the bad thoughts that were running through my mind about Mabel. I shouldn't have left her. But earlier I felt irked, not at her, but at myself. Mabel knew how hard it was for me to forget Selena, and she accepted it. Then why does it hurt me to see her did that? Isn't that a good thing?
Entering the villa area, I parked my car at random. I ran inside and just found Rainy sitting all alone.
"Ashton is out looking for them," Rainy informed us.
"Have you called any of them?" asked Daniel interrogating her.
"Their phones are here. None of them has their phone with them,"
I called my men and asked them. There were ten of them, so there was no way no one noticed Mabel and Miranda weren't inside.
I breathed a sigh of relief as one of them explained. Rainy was only exaggerating the problem. They said they saw Mabel and Miranda leave, so two of them followed behind them and hadn't come back.
"Did you hear what they said?" I asked Rainy in annoyance after my men finished explaining. She nearly cost me my life from a panic attack.
"Yeah, and I'm sorry for that. I didn't know you had an invisible guards,"
What did she mean just now? I shot her a death glare.
"I mean, I didn't know you had your men secretly keeping an eye on this villa."
"Because you're here, and I don't believe you." I answered sarcastically.
I ordered my men to return to their places, while I went back into the villa. Daniel canceled his plans to go to the beach club, and instead followed me into the villa.
"I can't believe Rainy managed to get us to speed on the road,"
"And I can't believe you managed to freak me out with just one call from her," I added.
"So sorry, my bro. But Rainy spoke in a panicked tone,"
"Because of that, I also just found out she has your number." I told him. "You have nothing to do with her, do you?"
"What you said made me realize she has my number. Where do you think she got it from?"
"She could get it from anywhere," I said in a dangerous tone. "You have to keep an eye on her,"
Our conversation stopped when I heard the sound of a car stopping in front of the villa. We all got out and found Miranda and Mabel getting out of the car.
I was about to get ready to approach Mabel, but before I could take the first step, Ashton ran from behind the car to grab her. He showed how worried he was to her. I clenched my fists at the sight. I wouldn't let Ashton ever get close to Mabel again. What happened earlier was enough. I couldn't torture myself with the sight of them together.
"Wait, Adrian." Daniel restrained me by blocking my way to the exit. "I know you're upset about what you're seeing, but think again. If you show your anger towards Ashton, it means you lost. Keep playing around and irritating him. Be your usual self. Don't let this jealousy kill you in your own game,"
I sighed deeply. If it weren't for Daniel, I would have lost myself. My eyes returned to Mabel, and we accidentally made eye contact. My heart whispered for her not to take a step closer to me, because I swore I would kiss her if she got even a little closer to me.
Mabel took her first step towards me, but someone stopped her. It calmed me down, but I didn't like who was stopping her. Rainy embraced her in a hug, saying soft words. I could tell she was annoyed by what she saw in the courtyard, but how could she not show it at all now? She's truly unpredictable and unbelievable.
When Mabel's eyes fell on me again, I turned to go inside. There was an unheard request in the depths of my heart. I wanted her to follow me. It called out her name and begged her to do it. I didn't hear anything from the stairs, she didn't come. Even so I was still hoping. I left the door unlocked so she had easier access to enter my room.
I lay down on the bed. Closing my eyes for a moment, I accidentally fell asleep. But when I woke up, a smile appeared on my face. Mabel was next to me. Since when did she come? She closed her eyes, but I wasn't sure she was asleep or just closed them.
"I just wanted to be like this with you, but I barely got a break from everyone." whispered Mabel as soon as she caught me awake and watching her.
"Me too," I said honestly. I couldn't lie to my desire to be around her. What happened that day was enough to test me.
"You're one of the mafia. If I were you, I would have kidnapped myself. Take me away to the place I want. Just the two of us," Mabel said, looking straight at me. She really meant it.
"You want me to do that?" I asked.
"I often read romantic stories about a mobster. They kidnap the woman they want, then in their own way make the woman fall in love." There was something in Mabel's eyes as she told me the romance stories of mobster that she had read from books.
"I didn't kidnap you, but forced you to marry me." I reminded her. "At that time you were very scared and did not accept my proposal,"
"Don't remind me of that," Mabel groaned in annoyance.
"I'm stating the facts," I grinned, putting my hand on her head, stroking her hair until she closed her eyes again. "If I'm no longer around for you, will you be okay?"
Mabel's eyes shot opened. She glared at me while holding my mouth with her hand. "What did you say? Don't you dare ask me that again! You're not going anywhere from me,"
I smiled gently at Mabel's reaction. It actually made her get up and push me back against the bed. She was above me with an irritated look. "I was just asking, Mabel."
"Why did you ask me that? I won't let you leave me anyway,"
I looked at her deeply. Mabel said it sincerely, I could feel it. With that, I cupped both of her cheeks, bringing her face closer to mine. She lowered her head, helping me to reach her lips. Our lips were so close, with her body pressed against mine.
"May I kiss you?"
Mabel smiled sweetly. "Oh so now you're asking my permission? What's up with before?"
I rammed my lips into hers deeply. I had been craving this since the last time our lips met. Mabel was what I needed the most. She filled the void in my heart. It will always be her...
Mabel kissed me back gently. I rolled over to get her back on the side of the bed. Our bodies fused in an embrace. "I just want to be a gentle mobster for you,"
"Sweet," Mabel mumbled as I broke our kiss. I smiled and slammed my lips at her again. We went wild for the night. But I knew we would never do more than kiss. I always held myself back even though I wanted to taste her more, caressing every bit of her moist skin, and kissing her until she asked for more.
"Adrian!"
"Shit," I grumbled. Daniel came at the most inopportune times. "What do you want?" I shouted angrily.
Mabel sat up quickly, trying to tidy herself up and catch her breath. I saw her lips were swollen and red.
"There's a guest!"
"Guest who?" I shouted back. I didn't remember inviting a guest and messing up this vacation time.
"Anthonio Blake, he's looking for you." Daniel explained from the outside. I was sure I didn't mishear the moment he said his full name.
"Who?" Mabel asked, showing curiosity in her expression at me. Obviously she didn't know who Anthonio was.
There was no mistaking it, Rainy must had invited the man. But wouldn't that be a problem for her, considering Ashton was here too?
I froze, then flinched when Daniel knocked on the door asking me to quickly come out. Mabel also looked confused as I still froze in my place.
"You know that man?" Mabel asked softly.
I nodded seriously at her. "Because I know him too well, I ask you to stay here. Don't leave the room until I come back. Do you understand?"
"But why?" Mabel attacked me with another question.
"He's just like me, Mabel. You understand without me having to explain to you, right?" I gently caressed her right cheek before jumping off the bed leaving her. "Stay here," I warned her one last time.
