Chapter 80: Chapter 80
"I wasn’t planning anything." Lawrence Winters spread his hands, grinning, "I genuinely think it’s great that our head of dorm clarified things, but the message was vague and unclear, failing to dispel the rumors from that post and instead reinforcing them, despite her good intentions toward me."
"That’s why I suggest that the head of dorm clarify once more, this time, clearly writing: Kenneth Osborne is not your boyfriend, and I’m not some home-wrecking mistress."
Molly Zimmerman glared at Lawrence Winters, her face alternating between red and white, her eyes bulging slightly with contained anger, making her almond-shaped eyes look a bit swollen.
"Head of dorm, I know you’re upset too. Our 366 dorm is so harmonious... how could such baseless rumors arise? It’s detrimental to the image of our class and our department, don’t you think?" Lawrence Winters seemed easygoing, but her words pressed on relentlessly, leaving Molly Zimmerman no room to back down.
Molly Zimmerman caught sight of Three-Billion Sister and Madwoman quietly watching through the corner of her eye. She took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and said, "Those who are innocent remain innocent; those who are guilty remain guilty. I’ve already clarified online with my real name, and said it was a misunderstanding. If you’re still not satisfied, there’s nothing I can do."
"Is the head of dorm truly unwilling to clarify further?" Lawrence’s smile faded. She walked over to her bed, hung up her coat, sat at her desk, and opened her laptop, saying, "Then I’ll clarify on your behalf, okay?"
"How can you do that? I never authorized you to clarify anything," Molly said, immediately opening the page of that post, finding the moderator, and sending a private message to request its immediate removal.
She had previously mentioned in her clarification that she would ask the moderator to remove the post, but hadn’t acted on it until now, forced by Lawrence Winters to finally ask for it to be deleted.
She had good connections at school, so when the moderator received her private message, they promptly took down the tall building on the forum.
By the time Lawrence Winters was about to reply herself, she found that the tall building was already gone.
"...You move fast, head of dorm." Lawrence sneered, glancing at Molly Zimmerman sitting at the writing desk by the door.
Molly ignored her and turned to Three-Billion Sister and Madwoman, saying, "This time our department has a separate recruitment event with many decent media outlets, and the Spencer Group is specifically coming to our department to recruit two people. Are you interested? I can submit your resumes directly."
Three-Billion Sister and Madwoman exchanged a glance, understanding Molly’s meaning.
Madwoman, being straightforward, immediately said, "Head of dorm, I’ll talk to the recruiters myself at the job fair. Without knowing more, I wouldn’t want to trouble you."
"It’s nothing. My family has some connection to the Spencer Group, so I can help with this." Molly said with a smile, then proactively asked Lawrence Winters, "Lawrence, would you like to submit your resume? I can help get it in for you."
Lawrence laughed and nodded, "Two peaches kill three knights... Head of dorm, I didn’t realize you’re so skilled, am I overthinking, or are you too confident?"
Molly was taken aback, frowning, "What do you mean by ’two peaches kill three knights’? I don’t understand."
"You can do something without understanding? You must be extraordinarily talented." Lawrence commented, "Now I understand why my mom insisted on me living in the dorms at university. It’s a step into the arena of fame and fortune, learning about the various facets of life!"
"Going through college without learning this lesson would indeed be a loss."
Lawrence clicked her tongue in admiration.
Suddenly, Three-Billion Sister said, "The story of ’two peaches kill three knights’ is about a king worried that his three generals were too powerful and wanted to eliminate them. So he brought out two peaches for them to divide. Of course, the three couldn’t split two peaches and ended up fighting and dying."
She then looked at Madwoman and said, "Madwoman, I’ve been wanting to meet a single CEO for a long time. Don’t fight me for this Spencer Group spot, okay?"
Madwoman paused, then burst out laughing, "Three-Billion Sister, you really can! I love how unapologetically straightforward you are! – Alright, I won’t contend for it. Let the head of dorm get you in!"
Lawrence also said, "...I won’t go either, head of dorm, you can use the other spot for a favor, like to the person who helped you post... They’ve gone through so much trouble for you, and if you don’t reward them, who will help you in the future?"
