Chapter 74: Chapter 74
Sister Three Billion did not expect that Lawrence Winters would say such pleasant words at such a young age.
She glanced at her with a smile and praised her, "...You’re promising. A girl who knows how to talk will face less harsh treatment from society."
Then she sat down at her desk and examined the effect in the mirror.
The Maniac Sister was holding a bag of milk tea.
She took out a cup and handed it to Lawrence Winters on the upper bunk, "Lawrence, here’s a cup of milk tea. Consider it my apology."
Lawrence Winters took the milk tea, raised an eyebrow and said, "Why apologize? But thank you for the milk tea."
The Maniac Sister glanced at the bed near the door where Molly Zimmerman was sleeping. Unsure of the situation, she whispered, "Today, I was having fun and started a thread on the forum, it’s the one gossiping about—"
Lawrence Winters was genuinely surprised, "So you built the first tall building!"
"...Yeah, but I didn’t say much, it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing!" The Maniac Sister quickly raised her hand, "If I caused you any trouble, I apologize! I truly apologize! I’ll do whatever you want to make it up to you!"
"It’s okay, I’m not troubled or upset. I actually hope..." Lawrence Winters chuckled lightly, "If you also built the second tall building, I’d be even more grateful to you!"
"Unfortunately, the second one has nothing to do with me." The Maniac Sister said, looking again at Molly Zimmerman’s bed, "...Could it be that the room leader is angry?"
"Probably not." Lawrence Winters leaned against her big pillow, "But it seems she’s sick. When I got back at six, she was already sleeping."
"Oh, that’s good. She probably hasn’t seen the second tall building yet." The Maniac Sister shrugged and went to the bathroom to wash up.
The next day, Molly Zimmerman got up early and, contrary to any worries, she was the same friendly room leader as before.
Both the Maniac Sister and Lawrence Winters breathed a sigh of relief.
Kenneth Osborne was right.
The students of Yen University quickly dove into the fiery school life.
With the start of a new semester, course selection, clubs, and various certification exams unfolded unhurriedly.
Senior students were busy with the final rush of their theses or actively job hunting.
Everyone’s credits were basically sufficient, except for some required class activities.
Lawrence Winters found the last semester surprisingly relaxed and was overjoyed.
On Saturday afternoon, she video-called with her uncle and mom, learning that because Nick Zeller had taken on a job, they had returned to Central South Province and were staying at a hotel in the provincial capital, planning to return to the Capital City in about a month.
Lawrence Winters cheerfully said, "Mom, Uncle, don’t worry, I’m doing great here. My classmates are nice, the professors are good, and my thesis is almost done, I’m just doing the final editing. I don’t have many classes, just one required class activity per week."
Gabrielle Winters showed a relieved smile, "That’s good, Lawrence, I’m assured now that you can adapt to university life."
"Why worry about that?" Nick Zeller scoffed, "Lawrence has been with me outside for so many years practicing feng shui, she’s seen all kinds of people. When it comes to interpersonal relations, that’s the least of your worries!"
"You can’t say it like that. Lawrence needs to interact more with her peers. Following you and doing feng shui, she’s been acting like an adult at such a young age. Is that really good?" Gabrielle Winters frowned slightly, expressing her disagreement.
Lawrence Winters quickly said, "It’s fine. Mom, Uncle, no matter the age group, people are people, human nature is universal, and I can handle it all."
"Hmm, I know, Lawrence is the best. Well, let’s not chat further; it’s not convenient for you in the dormitory." Nick Zeller waved at her, "Regarding our home near your school, don’t go living there alone. It’s safer for you to stay in the dormitory."
Lawrence Winters nodded and promised, her face beaming, "Okay, I’ll wait for you guys to come back. Bye! I’ll miss you!"
Just after ending the video call, Kenneth Osborne’s call came in.
His voice was relaxed and cheerful, "Nora, what are you doing?"
Lawrence Winters had just finished the call with her uncle and mom and was in a good mood, with laughter in her voice, "Nothing much, browsing the web in the dormitory, looking for a show to binge-watch."
Kenneth Osborne suggested, "What show are you watching? There’s a new movie released today, how about we go watch it? The school’s auditorium is showing it, and my dormitory mate got me two tickets."
"Sure!" Lawrence Winters also thought watching a show alone in the dormitory was boring, and she liked watching movies. Before, when she was in River City, she’d go to the auditorium to watch movies whenever she had the time.
"Hmm, shall I come and pick you up?" Kenneth Osborne tentatively asked.
Having let Lawrence Winters first adapt to school life, Kenneth Osborne had been holding back from seeking her out.
Lawrence Winters agreed with a laugh, "Sure, when are you coming? I can head down right away."
Kenneth Osborne said, "Don’t you want to freshen up a bit? I can wait, no rush."
"What freshening up? I look fine as it is..." Lawrence Winters looked at herself, planning to just change into some outdoor clothes and go.
Kenneth Osborne chuckled, hung up, and checked himself in the mirror, combing his hair and tidying up his hairstyle.
Arriving downstairs at the 38th floor where Lawrence Winters lived, Kenneth Osborne drew everyone’s attention once again.
Of course, people were now busier than at the beginning of the semester, not so focused on gossip.
People only glanced at him, speculating if he was here to see his girlfriend.
The big scandal at the beginning of the semester had everyone personally involved.
Everyone knew that the academic genius Kenneth Osborne’s girlfriend was Molly Zimmerman from the PR department on the 38th floor.
Someone even greeted Kenneth Osborne, "Kenneth the Genius, visiting your girlfriend, huh?"
Kenneth Osborne but smiled without answering.
