Chapter 71: Chapter 71
Lawrence Winters followed his uncle everywhere for business, basically relying on his gift of the gab.
He could speak accordingly to anyone and even knew how to deal with tricky situations, having honed his skills long ago.
He’s always articulate, with one argument after another, leaving Molly Zimmerman without words.
Molly was fuming, but when she tried to retort, she found herself utterly lost for words.
Lawrence spoke in terms that seemed grandiose, but these were the hardest to refute because they were the most reliable clichés out there. To argue against them was to make a fundamental mistake.
Molly sat with her phone on the top bunk, looking somewhat uneasy.
Lawrence had no intention of competing with her.
As long as no one bothered him, he could happily remain in the background unobtrusive.
After a good meal, Lawrence was in a great mood, humming a tune as he cleaned up his skincare products, grabbed his towel and change of clothes, and headed to the bathroom for a shower.
Molly quickly climbed down from the top bunk, went to Lawrence’s bed, and picked up his down jacket hanging on the wall for a closer look.
She wanted to know the brand because the jacket was stunning, stylish, and handsome.
Flipping the collar, she saw the label "Moncler," which wasn’t cheap, to say the least.
If it was genuine, it cost over ten thousand.
Molly’s family wasn’t short on cash, but a coat over ten thousand required some consideration.
She pondered for a while, and at that moment, there was a knock on the dorm door.
Molly snapped out of it and went to the door, forgetting to put down the jacket.
The door opened to reveal their next-door dorm mate, Xiao Yin, who was also the Arts Minister of their department.
"Molly, did you know?! Someone just saw the girl Shao God of Learning took to dinner downstairs in our dorm building!—And she lives in our building!" Xiao Yin was so excited she was almost jumping on the spot.
"Really?" Molly’s smile was somewhat forced.
"Yeah! Unfortunately, everyone was busily taking photos of Shao God of Learning and forgot to snap the girl too! I was going to ask you..." Xiao Yin’s voice trailed off upon seeing the jacket in Molly’s hand.
"Huh? This jacket looks familiar..." Xiao Yin pondered, stroking her chin thoughtfully.
Meanwhile, Lawrence had locked the bathroom door, and the sound of running water was coming from inside.
Molly casually draped the jacket over the back of her computer chair, bent to tidy her hair in the mirror, and smiled, "I’m going downstairs to buy something. Want to come along?"
"Too cold outside! No way am I going!" Xiao Yin was amazed and clung to Molly, asking, "You really don’t want to know who the girl is?" Her eyes kept glancing at the jacket on Molly’s chair.
"You know?" Molly put on her Morandi purple-gray cashmere coat, nonchalantly countering.
"No, that’s why I came to you! I’ve heard several of the girls on different floors are planning to find this girl! Unfortunately, there was hardly anyone in the hallway then, so few saw her clearly, and they said she seemed quite chubby."
Molly picked up her phone and put it in her coat pocket, smiling, "...Wearing a down jacket, can anyone look slimmer?"
"Ah?! You know?! Who is she really?! Is she really Shao God of Learning’s girlfriend?!" Xiao Yin’s face flushed with excitement, unable to help but point at the jacket, "That one looks a lot like the one in the photo..."
"Why are you so excited?" Molly amusedly picked up her LV bag. "Don’t make wild guesses. When the time comes, you’ll naturally know."
"But..." Xiao Yin kept pointing at the jacket draped over Molly’s chair, "You really aren’t planning to say anything?"
Molly just smiled silently.
This neither-confirming-nor-denying attitude was really tantalizing.
Xiao Yin got even more excited, circling around the dorm to calm her emotions, "So does that mean...you really have that kind of relationship with Shao God of Learning?"
She clasped her hands to her chest, her eyes practically sparkling, "The entire school was speculating since the day Shao God of Learning enrolled about which lucky girl would win him over!—I didn’t imagine it would be you, Molly!"
Molly scoffed, "What are you talking about? It’s not like that; we’re just friends who get along slightly better than average classmates, and besides, we’re from the same hometown, so we’re a bit closer."
After a pause, she added nonchalantly, "Even if I did have that kind of relationship with him, Xiao Yin, you wouldn’t need to react this way, would you?—I’m scared! I won’t dare tell you anything in the future..."
