Chapter 161: Chapter 161

"Hey! Kenneth, that’s not fair. You’re saying you’re blind, aren’t you actually insulting me?" Lawrence Winters grumbled, letting go of his hand. "Apologize!"

"Apologize for what? I said I’m blind, and I have to apologize to you for that?" Kenneth Osborne said nonchalantly, patting the back seat of his bike. "Hop on, let’s ride back."

The topic switch caught Lawrence off guard, prompting him to quickly follow up, "Why take the bike again? Didn’t you say we were walking back to digest?"

"I’m feeling a bit unwell, don’t feel like talking," Kenneth said as he swung his long leg over the bike seat, one foot on the ground, and turned back to look at her, his face expressionless yet incredibly handsome under the moonlight.

Lawrence was momentarily dazed by the sight, but quickly snapped back, jumping on the back seat and wrapping her arms around his slim waist, admiringly saying, "Ah, though I know you’ll break up with any girlfriend you’ll have in the future, she’s still so lucky... to be able to be lovey-dovey with such a stunningly handsome guy like you... tsk tsk... oh my... I can’t stop my imagination now!"

Kenneth rode the bike, wanting to say, "Can’t you imagine it with me?" But he knew that at this moment, if he dared say it, she would definitely make him so angry he’d honestly cough up blood.

To live a little longer to bicker with her, he decided to hint at her less in the future.

Kenneth dropped her off at the entrance of the girls’ dormitory at Yanda and walked away without saying a word.

Lawrence waved at his back and smiled as she headed back to her dorm.

Along the way, she bumped into dorm mates, and acquaintances greeted her, "Lawrence, back to good terms with our Scholar Kenneth?"

"Hahahaha... yes, we’re friends again."

"Is that an admission?"

"What admission? We’re from the same hometown, our relationship is naturally better than others..." Lawrence mumbled vaguely. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to clarify; it was just, who was this person?

She didn’t know them. Google seaʀᴄh 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩•𝗳𝗂𝗋𝖾•𝕟𝕖𝕥

She couldn’t just spill the beans to every random person, could she?

She told the truth to her close friends, like the Crazy Girl and Three Billion Sister.

They both knew she and Kenneth weren’t in a romantic relationship.

Lawrence humored these people while humming as she entered the dormitory.

She was surprised to find that Crazy Girl was already back.

She smiled and greeted her.

Crazy Girl said, "I’m going to shower first, talk to you later."

Lawrence nodded, "You go ahead, I need to prep for the interview questions a bit more."

But just as Crazy Girl went in, Lawrence’s mom requested a video call on WeChat.

Lawrence quickly accepted.

"Mom, when are you and Uncle coming back to Capital City? I haven’t seen you guys in ages," Lawrence began to act coyly.

Anyway, with no one else in the dorm, she could really let loose.

"Missing us, Lawrence?" Gabrielle Winters also missed Lawrence dearly, looking at her lovingly and praised, "Lawrence, you’re getting more and more beautiful. Are you still doing the morning exercises? You’ve slimmed down quite effectively..."

"Of course," Lawrence proudly flicked back her shoulder-length hair. "I’ve got good genes, can’t help it."

"Don’t be boastful," Gabrielle chuckled, shaking her head. "How’s your studying going? And work? Any leads?"

"Oh, I’ve got an interview notice from the Spencer Group’s PR department. The interview is on Friday, tomorrow," Lawrence said excitedly. "It’s my first interview ever; I must prepare well!"

Nick Zeller strolled over with a cup of Pu’er tea from behind Gabrielle, looked at Lawrence on the phone, and frowned, "Spencer Group? The same Spencer Group that’s on the national rich list? The one your dorm leader has relatives working in?"

"Yep," Lawrence grinned as she nodded, "How about it? Impressive, huh? I’m one of those ’people can’t stand me but grudgingly admire my capabilities’ types! Otherwise, why would they give me an interview chance?!"

"They’re only hiring two people this time, over fifty submitted applications, and only two made it to the interview stage!"

Nick took a sip of his Pu’er tea and curiously asked, "So does that mean you’re in? Looks like the lady surnamed Wan hasn’t leaked a word to her financial backer, Big Boss Spencer."

"Of course not," Lawrence bragged, raising her fingers delicately. "If she dared to, I’d give her a piece of my mind!"

"Oh please, stop boasting," Nick scoffed dismissively, "Your skills are just for show; against a true expert, you’d get beaten down."

Gabrielle smiled warmly, and advised, "Alright, stop bickering. Lawrence, how’s your interview prep going? The interview is tomorrow..."
