Chapter 123: Chapter 123
Lawrence Winters’ laughter came to an abrupt halt.
She paused so suddenly that her laughter wouldn’t retreat, still bubbling out, causing her to start hiccuping incessantly.
Kenneth Osborne felt a bit of a headache, but pretended nothing was wrong and walked over, giving Lawrence a pat on the back, his voice somewhat cold: "Keep laughing, everyone heard it anyway."
Lawrence’s attention was diverted and she immediately retorted, "You guys barging in like that startled me, it’s not that I’m afraid to laugh. — Did I do something wrong that I can’t even laugh?"
She spoke in a flurry, and the hiccups stopped.
Kenneth retracted his hand, smiling nonchalantly and lazily said, "How could you be wrong? Liking a celebrity isn’t a crime."
Then he turned to Joyce Shaw and said, "I have something to do tonight, you and Crazy Girl go have dinner."
Joyce quickly grabbed him, smiling, "I promised to treat if my proposal succeeded, none of you are allowed to leave!"
Three Billion Sister pulled Crazy Girl over and looked at the ring on her hand, clicking her tongue, "So many small diamonds, do they add up to a carat?"
"It’s two carats." Crazy Girl hurriedly said, "This is the Three Lives Three Worlds Ring! It’s not just about the diamond!"
"Ah? Isn’t this the one you’ve liked since your freshman year?" Three Billion Sister clicked her tongue, "Did you ask him to buy it?"
"Of course not, why would I ask someone to buy me a diamond ring?" Crazy Girl stomped her foot, strongly refusing, "Joyce picked it herself!"
"Then you two are truly a match made in heaven." Three Billion Sister lazily turned to look in the mirror, "You’re treating us today? Can it be earlier? I still have a bit left on my thesis."
"No problem, I’m here to invite you all to dinner." Joyce smiled at Crazy Girl, "How about you? Are you tired? Want to rest a bit before we go?"
"Not tired, not tired, I’m not tired at all!" Crazy Girl happily wrapped his arm, turning to Lawrence, "Lawrence, you must honor us with your presence!"
Crazy Girl and Joyce were trying their best to ease the situation, and although Lawrence was displeased with Kenneth’s attitude, she didn’t want to trouble her good friends.
She smiled and nodded, "Sure, I’ll definitely go. Where are we eating?"
"The restaurant outside the South Gate," Joyce smiled a bit foolishly, "Crazy Girl picked it, we all need to be single-minded."
Lawrence made a face, "Oh my! I don’t even need to eat dinner because I’m already stuffed with your display of affection!"
Three Billion Sister lazily leaned back, crossing her arms, "Yeah, you’re all in pairs, maybe I shouldn’t join in?"
"Hey! Three Billion Sister, what are you saying? Don’t say such ambiguous things!" Lawrence pushed Three Billion Sister’s chair, "Crazy Girl and Joyce are a pair, but Kenneth and I aren’t, so you have to come with us! Otherwise, if people misunderstand, I couldn’t explain myself even if I jumped into the Yellow River!"
Lawrence spoke with a biting tone, clearly carrying some resentment.
Kenneth knew he shouldn’t argue with her, but he was worried if he stayed, she might really upset him.
Remembering Lawrence saying herself that "he’s the Blue Darling I love," even though he understood the "love" she referred to wasn’t romantic, it was hard to accept, like someone stabbing his chest, yet he had to force a smile regardless.
He was pulled by Joyce, standing in the doorway backlit.
His expression concealed in the shadows, it took a while before he stepped out of the darkness.
The finely shaped phoenix eyes flashed insouciantly, the curve of his lips unchanged.
His gaze brushed past Lawrence, then indifferently withdrew.
The usually gently smiling face was calm, unexpectedly revealing some detachment and alienation.
Lawrence’s heart skipped a beat, quite dissatisfied with Kenneth’s change in demeanor, but she said nothing.
Today was Crazy Girl and Joyce’s happy day, no matter how annoyed she was, she had to endure it.
So she wore a sweet smile, intending to take Crazy Girl’s hand.

Lawrence then turned to hook arms with Three Billion Sister, hoping to leave together.
Three Billion Sister chuckled, "I don’t have the time for riddles with you people. — What a hassle!"
She pushed Lawrence’s hand away, quickly walked forward a few steps, and also left the dormitory.
Only Kenneth remained standing at the doorway, hands in his pockets, half-leaning against the door, appearing as if he was waiting for her, or perhaps just standing there casually.
Where he stood, the place became a sight to behold.
Girls going to and fro in the hallway snuck glances at Kenneth.
