Chapter 114: Chapter 114
Kenneth Osborne let out a soft chuckle: "...Is that it? No worries, I’ll divert Nora’s attention, you and the wild girl can enjoy your weekend."
Joyce Shaw quickly clasped his hands together in gratitude: "No words can express my thanks, brother. In the future, just call on me and I’ll be there, come what may!"
"Such a small gesture." Kenneth tossed a wad of scrap paper at him and turned to message Lawrence Winters on WeChat.
[Kenneth]: Is Nora asleep?
Lawrence was waiting for a reply from the wild girl and, after not hearing back for a while, figured she was having a hard time, but didn’t mind as she planned to say it’s not necessary anymore.
Kenneth’s message came through, and she quickly replied: Not yet, is there something?
[Kenneth]: I heard you’re going shopping at Syon tomorrow to buy clothes and also to support Lucas Harlow?
[Nora]: Huh? How do you know? Did the wild girl tell you?
[Kenneth]: No, she’s talking with Joyce. Seriously, a little couple finally gets a weekend together and you’re playing the role of an interfering busybody?
[Nora]: Guilty.JPG. Kenneth, I... I didn’t think about that. I’ll message the wild girl right now, I can go on my own tomorrow.
[Kenneth]: No need to say that, just tell her I’ll take you shopping tomorrow, so she doesn’t have to.
[Nora]: Shocked.JPG. Kenneth! I’m mainly going to support my dear Lucas! Will you really go with me???
Kenneth looked at Lawrence’s reply and thought he should get a Chihuahua in the future and name it "Lucas."
However, he still replied with a smile: Anyway, I have nothing to do tomorrow, and going shopping with you will be like a workout. Oh, and still, get up on time for the morning run.
[Nora]: Huh? More running? I’ve already lost ten pounds! Defiantly refusing.JPG.
Kenneth calmly replied: You’ve lost ten pounds in a short period. If you don’t maintain it, you’ll gain it back quickly, and then it won’t just be a simple 126 pounds, it might even...
He didn’t finish the message, but Lawrence understood immediately.
She quickly replied: Then it’s running as usual tomorrow! And you have to go with me to support Lucas too!
Kenneth replied: Okay, but you can’t bring any loudspeakers, flower banners, or placards.
That was his final stand.
[Nora]: Pouting.JPG. Alright, we’ll go empty-handed, but Lucas has so many fans now, surely someone else will bring those things?
[Kenneth]: ...You’ve done all you can; a little fame depends on luck, big fame on destiny. As a Heavenly Master, don’t you understand going with the flow?
[Nora]: Kenneth, that’s not entirely true. The Heavenly Master must go with the flow, but my uncle says, ’Heaven helps those who help themselves.’ If you don’t work hard and just wait for help from above, it won’t work, even if you’re Heaven’s own daughter.
[Kenneth]: ...Are you sure even Heaven’s own daughter wouldn’t make it?
[Nora]: Not at all. My uncle says there are too many sons and daughters of Heaven, so you must work hard to stand out. Cute and lovable.JPG.
[Kenneth]: Alright, anyway, I’ll come by tomorrow morning to call you for the run, then we’ll head out shopping.
[Nora]: Little bunny nodding.JPG.
After finishing their chat, Lawrence sent a message to the dorm group: Alright, wild girl, you don’t need to come with me anymore. I found a buddy.
The wild girl snapped out of her daze and quickly told Joyce: Then I’ll spend the weekend with you alone. Shy.JPG.
She then said in the dorm group: Lawrence, I won’t go with you tomorrow then, I’m spending the weekend with Joyce. Happy twirl.JPG.
Lawrence expressed her envy, then exited the group chat to go to sleep.
The savvy sister rolled her eyes in disdain, put down her phone, and continued with her thesis.
Early the next morning, Lawrence got up to go running with Kenneth, while the wild girl had already started packing her travel bag, saying she was going with Joyce to a hot spring resort in the suburbs for the weekend.
Lawrence laughed heartily, praised her luck, told her to have fun, and then went running.
The savvy sister slipped a few condoms into the wild girl’s small bag and softly said, "...Remember to protect yourself."
The wild girl blushed but nodded, "Thank you, savvy sister."
The savvy sister leaned against the window, sipping a glass of milk, and glanced out to see Lawrence already running downstairs with Kenneth, and sneered, "Lawrence’s family must have really protected her well. Only a happy child is so naïve about relationships."
"I heard she grew up without a father, only her mom and uncle. But it seems her mom and uncle treat her very well; she buys clothes from Syon Square."
Clothes there are notoriously expensive.
The wild girl, with her travel bag and small backpack, smiled and said, "It’s great that everyone can work and live happily."
The savvy sister squinted and smiled, "Go on then, out of the three of us, at least one is content and happy."
"You just think too much," the wild girl replied with a smile. "I’m not that ambitious. My parents have been together since college, got married, found jobs after graduation, and have been stable ever since. I’m not greedy, I’m happy if I can live like them."
The savvy sister said nothing more, just shrugged.
When Lawrence returned from her run, the dorm was already empty.
She took a quick shower, ate the healthy breakfast Kenneth prepared for her, grabbed her small backpack from the day before, and dashed down the stairs.
Kenneth was already waiting for her at the dorm entrance.
He was dressed in casual wear fit for an outing, simple and perfectly highlighting his straight back and long legs.
His expression was not indifferent but wore a warm smile, with a spark in his exquisite phoenix eyes that lit up instantly when he saw Lawrence appear at the door.
