Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Five years later…
KIARA’S POV
Drops of tears fell on the piece of paper as I ran my hand over it. It was left by Nivaan for me on the eve of my twenty-third birthday.
Dear Cuckoo,
I feel like my life is meaningless without Valence. Don’t get me wrong I love you all but there is a hollow in my heart that is eating me up. I am going in search of peace. I might finally be at peace when I find my mate. If that happens, I will return home.
Till then, I hope my gift will give you so much happiness that you won’t miss me…
Always yours,
Nivaan Lovelock
My lips stretched into a weak smile as Kevin hugged me from behind. He lowered his head near my ears and said, “Missing your brother.
I let out a deep sigh and turned around to face him. I cupped his face and looked into his eyes. They reminded me of Nivaan. My heart clenched and tears flowed freely down my cheeks.
They were my brother’s gift to me. After Valence killed Ariana and Andrew witches had started considering werewolves as their enemies. Leave alone helping us, they refused to even talk to werewolves.
We kept searching for three years until one day Nivaan donated his eyes to Kevin and went away on some solitary trip. He did everything secretly. Even Kevin found out only after he had regained his sight.
Kevin wiped away my tears and said, “If Nivaan finds out that I let you cry, he will never forgive me…”
I pursed my lips and nodded my head. Moments later I felt warmth envelope my heart as my son hugged my legs. I went down on my knees and pulled his chubby cheeks saying, “What does Junior Nivaan want?”
He chewed his lower lips and his cheeks as he said in his baby voice, “Why does momma always call me Junior Nivaan? I don’t want to be a junior… I am a big boy now… call me only Nivaan!”
I giggled as I picked him up in my lap and kissed him. Looking at him lovingly, I asked, “Do you want to know the story of Your Uncle?”
His eyes lit up and he bobbed his head like a rattle. I laughed at his eager expression and started narrating the story, “Your Uncle’s name was Nivaan Lovelock…”
His cute little eyebrows furrowed and he said, “Why is his name the same as mine?”
Kevin fell into step with me and said, “You will find out when you hear his story…”
He placed his hand on my shoulder as we walked to the garden together so that we could share this wonderful part of our life with our son…
