Chapter 37: Chapter 37
Steven
After half an hour of the trip, we reached the resort Gino had sent us to.
"Dude! You are finally here!" I can hear Marco yelling and running toward me.
I heard Mavin snort behind me. "Did they all plan to fetch you?" He asked.
I sighed. "Even I cannot explain them at all." I replied.
These people don't do things alone. They do everything together, not just one or two, but everything together, and this is the first example I could give.
"Nice car!" Gino said and greeted my older brother. "Maybe you would like to come and bond with us?" He asked.
"I would love to, but you did not invite me in the first place. I do not have any clothes with me aside from this," He replied, pointing at his clothes. "And our parents are at our house today. I need to attend to them." He added, explaining what he could explain.
"I like his brother better. Noisy like us," Sam even commented. "Just think I did not say anything." He added when I glared at him.
"I am Mavin, by the way. I am his older brother. It's nice to meet you guys, but I must head back now." He said.
"We will take care of your younger brother. You can rest assured. He is safe with us." Bentley replied.
I can't tell if I am safe with these guys, though. "Let's hang out next time, Mavin." Marco added.
They all bid their goodbyes and waited until we couldn't see Mavin's car anymore. Jericho nudged me. "Why aren't you answering our calls? We got worried. We waited for half an hour before we left the school. So that you know." He said.
"I am sorry about that. Something happened. I was not able to call or text you guys." I explained.
"I heard you got into a fight with Shiela and Sunny." Marco said. I looked at him. How did he know? "Shiela told us about it while we were waiting for you. They thought you would not go because of what happened." He explained.
I shook my head. "I am not mad, though. I was just teasing Sunny that night," I told them. "I even told Shiela about it when she messaged me that night." I added.
They are now laughing. "Shiela must have been playing with Sunny since she cannot stand things like this. I bet she will cry if you keep doing that." Justin commented.
We reached the resort and saw the girls in the pool already.
"You took so long, Steven!" Aira said.
"We thought you were going to ditch us." Ella seconded.
I just smiled and bowed a little. "Sorry about that." I said and put my things in the cottage. I tried to find where Sunny was, but I couldn't find her.
"She headed back to the room. She said she would check her phone if it were full already," Shiela suddenly said. I looked at her and was about to ask when she said something. "My instinct tells me that you are finding her. Am I wrong?" She smiled with her teasing expression.
Why does it feel like everybody knows me that much? Does my face say it all, or what?
"Anyway, when are you planning to talk to her? She is already frustrated thinking you are mad at her." She added.
"I had already planned to talk to her, but something came up at our house. I could not tell her, so I will just tell her now." I explained myself.
Shiela nodded and laughed again. "You need to. She was really worried and kept on telling me to talk to you. She has been blaming me for what I did, but I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable that time. That is not true at all. I am thankful for what you did for her. I like you more than her super lousy ex-boyfriend." She responded.
"No problem. However, I agree with what you said to his jerk ex-boyfriend." I told her.
We just laughed. Shiela went back to swimming, and I sat at our cottage and fished out my phone to send my mom a message. After sending a message, I returned my phone and waited for Sunny to come out.
While waiting, I received a call. I looked at the caller and saw Sunny's name.
I tapped the answer button. "Are you still mad at me? Sorry. I am sorry. I will never say that word again." She said immediately.
Pft. "Where are you?" I asked back.
"We are now here at the resort. I am currently in our room. I am charging my phone," She replied. "How about you? Aren't you going here?" She asked again, her voice shouting "disappointed."
Cute. I could not help but suppress my laugh. "Come down. I am here already at the cottage." I told her.
The other line was silent. "You sure?" She broke the silence.
I nodded. "Can't you hear the noise here? I met the guys already. Just come down." I replied.
"Okay, I will be there." She answered and ended the call after that.
Somehow, now that I can hear her asking if I will go, I feel light. I do not feel uneasy or anything. I have been looking forward to this trip as well. That is why I decided to come here, despite my condition.
"You are not mad now, right?" Sunny suddenly asked the moment she stood in front of me.
I shook my head. "I am not at all. I was just teasing you." I told her.
She just stared at me before hitting my arm. "I thought you were mad at me." She said, sniffing.
Her eyes became watery, and that made me panic. "Why are you crying?" I asked worriedly.
"I thought you were mad at me. You ignored my messages from that night until now. I thought you were not going because of me." She said as she wiped her tears away.
I gave my handkerchief right away. "Something came up last night. I was not able to check my phone. Sorry. Stop crying. Why the hell are you even crying? Are you a child?" I asked as I helped her wipe her tears.
"You should have told me sooner," Between sniffs, she said. "Mavin was not answering my messages either. I thought you told him not to talk to me either." She added.
I laughed at her. "I am not that kind of person, though," I told her. "Stop crying now. Crybaby." I added.
"Oh, you guys are extra sweet today." Marco commented, wriggling his eyebrows.
I glared at him. "I told you Sunny would cry." Justin also commented.
"I remember when she and Shiela fought before. Sunny cried that time, bawling her eyes out while saying sorry." Melissa shared.
"She easily cries." Chris added.
Sunny turned to them. "Wow, thank you for sharing that, huh." She said sarcastically.
"I'm sorry. I did not mean to make you feel this way." I apologize. I should have woken up a little earlier.
"At least I know you are not mad at me." She responded. "Are you going to swim?" She asked afterward.
I shook my head. "Not now." I told her.
"Have you eaten your lunch already?" She asked again.
"I was not able to eat." I replied.
Her eyes widen. "You came here without eating anything? You should have eaten at least buns or something," She said. "Do you want me to come with you? Let's eat." She added.
"Where?" I asked.
"You did not see the stalls while going here? Gino said we could eat everywhere. We have our pass here. We can eat wherever we want. Gino is rich." She shared.
"Hey, I can hear you, Sunny!" Gino commented, even though he was at the pool.
Sunny just made a face at him. "Do not even deny it. We know it already!" She replied. "Let's go," She added. I followed her and let her lead me where she would take me. "These are the stalls here. Where do you want to eat?" She asked.
"Where do you want to eat?" I asked.
She shoots me a glare. "You are the one who needs to eat here. Why are you even asking me?" Sunny said, her voice irritated at me. I could not help but laugh at her. "Why are you laughing at me?" She complained.
"I just find you cute." I told her honestly.
Her mouth was agape for a few seconds before pouting. The tip of her nose was still red after crying, and her complaining made me laugh. I do not know. I just find her cute.
"Now you are blushing." I added, teasing her, pointing at her cheeks that were shaded with red, like tomatoes.
She quickly hit me. "Why are you teasing me now? After ignoring me for almost two days, you are doing this to me?" She is complaining again.
I move her to face the stalls. "Just tell me where you want to go," I told her. She was about to hit me when I held her shoulder tight, but not forcefully. "Just point it." I added.
She pointed to the stall named "Eat n' Go." I moved her to walk forward. I was glad she was not complaining and let me guide her to the stall.
When we entered the stall, we headed straight to the counter. "Good afternoon, Ma'am and Sir. What's your order, please?" The staff greeted me.
"Is it okay to order your best menu here? We were with Gino. We could pay for it if it's not allowed." I asked the staff.
The staff smiled at us. "You can, Sir. No need to pay for it." She replied.
I turned to Sunny. "What about you? What do you want to order?" I asked her.
"I am still full. I will have the chocolate banana parfait." She replied.
"Small, medium, or large, Ma'am?" The staff asked.
"Large, please." She responded.
"How about a drink, Sir?" The staff turned to ask me.
"Just iced tea, please." I replied.
The staff member quietly nodded and typed something on her monitor. "Your orders are one best menu, a large chocolate banana parfait, and iced tea for drinks. Do you wish to add anything else, Ma'am and Sir?" She checked our order.
"No more." I replied.
"Okay, Sir. We will send your order after a few minutes. Here is your number." The staff said and handed a stick with the number twelve on it.
"Thank you." We both said our gratitude before finding ourselves a seat.
"You said you were not hungry?" I asked when we got to sit.
Sunny nodded. "I am not."
"Then why did you order the large one?" I asked her again.
"Then I am hungry a little?" She replied in an asking tone. "Can't you just let me eat it in peace?" She inquired, now enraged at me—no wonder they love to tease her.
Her face says it all. You will feel satisfaction and love to tease her more. "I will, of course," I replied. "Have you continued watching the drama we are currently watching?" I asked.
She shook her head. "I was waiting for your reply at that time. I want to ask you about it, but you ignore me." She complained as if she was telling her mother about me ignoring her.
I suddenly regretted doing that. I ignored all of her messages and tried to avoid her. Why did I even decide to do that?
"Why did you not just watch it at all?" I asked.
She pouted again. "We watched it together. So we should finish it together as well," She replied. "As long as we finish it, I do not mind waiting. You might get mad if I continued watching it alone without you." She added.
She is now telling me what I have told her before. I am feeling grateful that she wants to watch it with me. She could watch it without me, but she stopped herself from doing so and waited for me.
"Mom and dad are in our house today." I shared the news about my parents.
"Really? What happened? Since they were busy, I thought they would be back after a few more months." She asked.
I gulped. How should I answer this? "They needed to come here for an emergency." I replied.
Yeah, and I was the emergency.
"Is it okay now? They must be worried because they came here immediately for that. How are they?" she asked.
"They are fine. I think they will ask to meet your grandmother soon. So, be ready." I told her.
Sunny nodded. "I am excited to see your parents too," she said. "I will tell them you made me cry and ignored me for almost two days." She warned.
I think they know about it too. Knowing Mavin, he was too blabby. I would not be surprised if they already knew.
"It is not my fault that you cried, though," I defended myself. "Why did you even cry first?"
"I am scared you will ignore me for a long time!" She explained. "I don't want everyone to get mad at me. I am uncomfortable."
