Chapter 18: Chapter 18

Mavin

After ten minutes, we reached the school. We can even see Sunny standing beside the gate. We quickly hopped off in our car after I parked it.

"Why? What happened? Why are you crying?" I asked. Instead of answering my question, she just burst into tears. I enveloped her in a hug. "Hey, I want to know why. Did someone hurt you or something?" I asked her again.

"Let's get inside of the car." As Steven suggested.

I guided Sunny to the backseat of the car. "Steven, sit beside him." I told him.

He nodded quietly, and I sighed in relief. I thought he would not agree since he hates this kind of thing. It's a good thing he can understand human things now or else I might really kick his head out because of his stupidity.

We let her cry alone and did not ask for it now. She was crying nonstop, so it appears to be a serious situation.

Why the hell is she crying?

I am dying of curiosity.

I cannot stand this kind of situation, but I have to endure it for now.

"Here. Drink some water. You have been crying since we met." Steven told Sunny, coldly.

He does not know how to comfort someone either. He is in bad shape, really. Is he a stone or a robot who does not have feelings? I must ask our parents about this. I am getting worried about him.

I can understand that he rarely talks, but we are talking about emotions now, and I think he is having difficulty expressing himself too. What is his problem?

"T-thank...you." Sunny replied, sniffing.

"Do you feel okay now? Or do you still feel like crying?" I asked.

She nodded. "After crying, I feel okay now. Thank you." she replied, sniffing in between.

"What are you doing in front of our school? Do you know what time it is already? It's already seven in the evening. It is dangerous to stay alone." Steven asked, almost scolding like a strict parent.

"Can you just not open your mouth? You are not helping her at all." I told him.

Steven shoots a glare from the rear mirror. "And how did you say that?" he asked.

"You do not know how to comfort her. Instead of helping her to calm down, you are scolding her." I replied.

His brows drew together. "I am not scolding her. I am just asking. Can't you see that?" He asked back.

"You are. What are you doing in front of our school? Do you know what time it is already? It's already seven in the evening. It is dangerous to stay alone." I copied the way he said those words. "That's exactly how you told her that. You should have recorded yourself saying it, so that you won't be able to deny it―"

"Really?" Sunny commented. "Why are you fighting now? You are making me cry more." She added.

"Okay, so let's not talk for now. I will drive to the nearest restaurant for us to eat our dinner. Are we good?" I asked the both of them.

They both nodded quietly. So, I headed to the nearest restaurant that we saw. We are now looking at the menu.

"I want this one and some red wine please." I told the waiter and pointed to the nicoise beef.

"I will get what he ordered." Steven seconded.

I looked at Sunny, who was still looking at the menu. "Have you chosen yours? Just get what you want. This is my treat." I told her.

"This is making me cry more. I can't even pronounce their food, and it is expensive." She commented.

Steven sighed. "Just point out what you want to eat then." He told Sunny. "You do not have to read them at all." He added.

"Will they give us a lot of portions? I doubt it, but I want these three dishes." She said and showed it to the waiter.

Who says it is expensive when she ordered three of them?

"And, oh, water please. Thank you very much." She added.

"So, do you mind telling us what happened now?" I finally asked after the waiter left. "If you decide to stay quiet, then I am sorry, but you won't be able to eat yours. Thanks." I warned her.

It is better to be sure than to not know the answer and to curb my curiosity.

Her lips formed a pout after hearing what I told her. "While I was at school, Jake chimed in and asked if I was available after class. He was inviting me to go outside. I am so excited about it because we have not gone out for ages already. I can't ask him to go out on my own since we are both busy with our studies. I want to respect that." She started sharing. "He said he would fetch me after class at the front gate and I did. I waited for him at the gate and saw my friends and other classmates leaving the school. I thought he was just late, and he was still doing some things in their room, and I saw his friends going out and asked him if he saw Jake. He said, Jake went out already because their last professor was absent." She added.

So, he just ditched Sunny? His girlfriend?

"Have you ever tried to call, text, or message him?" I asked.

She nodded. "I did. Every hour. I tried reaching him, but he was not answering them." She replied.

"Why did you still wait at the front gate? You should have gone home." Steven asked.

Sunny shook her head. "I am afraid that we will miss each other. I waited for him. I was excited and looking forward to the date tonight. We rarely go out. I can even count them with my two hands." She replied.

He is just an a*shole.

Why would he do that to her in the first place?!

Is he an idiot?

"Do you think he really loves you?" Steven asked her straightforwardly.

Not even beeping or taking a gulp. HE JUST BLEW IT UP! HE IS SO DAMN!

"I do not know now." Sunny cried.

"You made her cry again, dude. What the hell are you?!" I scolded him again.

"S-sorry. I did not mean it in a bad way." He said, apologizing.

Not in a bad way, his a*s.

"I just thought that he would not do that in the first place if he really loved her. He asked her to go out in the first place, so why did he forget about it?" Steven explained.

"Should I beat him for you?" I asked her.

I agree with what Steven said. There is no way you will forget about it. Like Sunny told us, they rarely go out. If you are going out after a long time, he will be excited like Sunny. What the hell is his problem? Unless he has an emergency.

"Do you want me to make him pop?" I asked her again. "I can do that! It is easy for me to do that." I added.

He will serve as our peace treaty with the other clan. That would be a good idea.

"Not." Sunny answered.

"Not, what?" I asked back.

"Not yet. I still want to hear his side. Maybe he had something important to do, that is why he forgot about it," She explained. "I can wait for him and his explanation. I think this situation that we are facing is testing our relationship." She added.

Awww. She is kind towards her boyfriend. He must be lucky to have Sunny, yet he is ditching her.

We stopped talking when our orders came. We started eating and changed our topic. Sunny shared what happened today at their school and what Steven should do later. He said that he would attend the class already. That is how hardworking he is.

"Wait? Are you sure that you are good already?" Sunny asked him again, making sure if he was really fine.

Steven nodded. "I am fine. That is why I will attend, right?" he answered sarcastically.

Sunny gives him a sullen glance. Definitely done with Steven, like me. "You can just answer yes or no. Why are you so mean? You made me worried for days and you are still doing this to me. I should not have gotten worried about you." she complains.

"Nobody asked you to be worried about me. Why bother?" he asked back.

"Why bother, why bother?" Sunny mimics him. "Of course, I would be. I thought you had friends. It is common for friends to get worried about their friend's condition! You are just lying about your friends? I do not think that you have them now. You do not even talk to our classmates. And even if you do not think of me as your friend, I will still be worried because I know you. My grandma is always asking about your condition too. You get it now? We are worried, period. No erase." She added, with her long explanation.

What a word from Sunny. Steven needs to hear them. He is too aloof. Although, he really has friends. He thinks it is not important to have them. He thought of them as acquaintances.

If I am his friend, I will definitely cut my connection with him.

"Our getting some friends plan is still ongoing, alright? You must do this. This is how you survive in life." Sunny advice.

I tapped Sunny's shoulder. "I am lucky to have you too. Please help him. He is in desperate need of assistance."I told her.

I think Steven needs to move on. The past is past, but he still dwells on it and bears it until now. He should know and learn that everyone is not the same. That he can still trust someone. Give his trust to someone who really deserves it, and I think Sunny deserves it.

She is kind. She thinks of Steven as her friend. Get worried about his condition and make good food for us. I think it is enough for me to trust her.

I looked at Steven and sent a message through telepathy. I told him that Sunny was worth trying.

"I trust her more than you." Steven replied out loud.

"Huh?" Sunny asked back. "What were you saying?"

I shake my hands to stop her from minding it.

"I said, I trust you more than Mavin." He replied and repeated what he had said.

Sunny's eyes widen. "Seriously? Do you trust me too?! I do too!" Sunny replied cheerfully. "Do you think of me as your friend too?" she asked.

Tsk. Why does it hurt to hear that he trusted Sunny more than me? We have been living here for how long, and he only met Sunny a few weeks ago. I feel betrayed.

Steven nodded. "I think I can do that. I think of you as my friend." He said.

"REALLY?!" Sunny replied. "Oh my goodness! It is so hard to make friends with you." she added.

"Yeah, Sunny. He is really picky." I commented.

"But it is good to hear that you are trying to make friends now. I should be proud that I am your first friend here." She added.

Sunny must have made Steven trust her too. If Steven said so, that means he really thinks of her as one.

I will make sure to share this with mom and dad later!

After that, we eat our dinner. We sent her to their house. Sunny and I had fun singing inside the car. She is fun to be with!

"Are you sure that you are really fine now?" I asked Sunny when we came out of my car.

Sunny nodded happily. "Thanks to both of you! Even though some things happened, I enjoyed the food and the night." She replied.

"That's good to hear." I told her.

"Sunny?" someone called her.

A woman came out in front of their house.

"Mom! They are the Rendezcah siblings we always talked about. Mavin and Steven, this is my mom."
