Chapter 55: Chapter 55

I blinked my eyes as soon as we were on the other side of the portal. That was quicker than I anticipated. Did Lukas use some kind of trick? I will ask him later. My body felt light, entire leaning against him for support.

"Talia" He breathed when I tried to close my eyes.

"Hmm?"

"I called fairies. They will help us out."

I nodded my head, a pitiful sigh escaping my lips. As much I tried to act like it didn't affect me; I was scared. What if the baby was not okay? Should I not have put myself in risk?

"Let's get you to your room" Lukas softly smiled, his grip firm on my waist. I let him lead me towards the room, resting my head on his shoulder.

I met Dean on the way to my room. He was holding onto his spear. He gave me a curt nod which was more than enough for him. Kira was already rushing towards the door, scurrying to open the door for me. My lips twitched at that.

Lukas helped me get in the bed. I let out a soft sigh as soon as my body hit the familiar thick mattress. The familiar scent made me feel better already.

"Miss Talia do you want me to get something? Water?" Kira questioned, her hands folded together and chewing on her lips. She looked pale.

"Water will be fine" I croaked, trying to sit up. Lukas was on my side instantly, gripping my hand.

Kira nodded her head and exited the room in a hurry. I tilted my head towards Lukas, smiling at the look on his face. He was so nervous about his right grip on my hand as if that would break me.

"Don't worry. I will be fine."

"I know" He breathed.

Mia, Sia and Gia entered the room with Kira on their tow. They had a pouch around their waist. I cocked my brow. That was new! I had never seen them carry anything before.

"Hello Miss Talia"

I tried to muster a smile their way but failed. From the corner of my eyes, I noticed Lukas standing near the wall. He flashed an encouraging smile my way.

"You don't look too well" Gia cringed, her eyes raking over my body. I tried not to roll my eyes because that's obvious—the entire point of inviting them to Hell.

"I'm thinking she caught something while we were in Underworld" Lukas mumbled, a thoughtful look on his face.

I thought about it. Was it the pancakes? Maybe I should not have overdone it. With a sigh, I turned towards the pixies.

Mia twisted her lips, her nose held high, "I don't think it's that. But I can smell it."

Sia sniffed the air, "It's strong."

"I can smell it too" Gia hummed, taking my hand in hers. I narrowed my eyes at her, biting back a wince as her clammy hands. Why was her hand so cold?

"What is it?" Lukas frowned, trying to sniff the air, his head held high.

"I don't think you can smell it, my Lord."

I cleared my throat, "What is it?"

"A peppermint powder churned with strong synthetic fragments. It triggered your stomach reflux, causing you to puke."

My lips parted at that. Before I could ask them anything, Lukas beat me to it.

"What can cause that?"

"Someone might have blown that on your mate. It easily affects pregnant women because of their sensitivity to smell." Gia mumbled, opening her pouch. I peeked in only to see the sage and few herbs wrapped in.

Lukas gritted his teeth, "I should have been able to sense that"

"It's not your fault" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"I should have been more careful."

Mia shook her head, "No, my Lord. Miss Talia is right. You cannot blame yourself."

Lukas made a sound like he was still not convinced about it. He tugged at his loose strands.

"Can you treat her?"

Sia hummed, "Yes, we will, but you both need to be extra careful. Next week Miss Talia will start showing. Normally that's a good sign for human pregnancy, but we don't know what to expect."

I wrapped my arms around my stomach, suddenly feeling nervous and excited at the same time. Lukas would be elated at the thought of touching my belly, but then again, we have to be careful. Why could it be easy for us? After all the things we have been through, it should be enough.

"Thanks. I'll never let her out of my sight" Lukas grunted, his eyes on my stomach. He had a determined look on his face. Mia suppressed her giggled, and pointedly stared at me.

I tried not to scoff at him. He was already overprotective, so it was going to be a ride for sure. I hope it turns out to be the fun kind.

"Miss Talia you need to chew on this. Don't swallow without completing chewing on it." Gia handed out the leaves wrapped around a clove. I blinked at her before taking it. It was not appealing at all, but with the four-set of eyes narrowing at me, I had no choice but to push it in my mouth. A shiver ran through my body at the taste.

Lukas lips twitched.

"I hate you" I mumbled at him while leaning back against the headboard.

"No, you don't."

"Eh," I rolled my eyes, a sly smile tugging at my lips.

"You can sleep now, Miss Talia" Mia softly smiled.

"Okay"

When I woke up, I felt much better than in a few hours ago. Blinking my eyes, I sat up, pushing the pillows behind my back. The heavy feeling in my gut was no longer there, and I didn't have an urge to puke anymore. My eyes immediately searched for Lukas, but he was nowhere to be found. My lips turned at that. Where did he go?

Someone knocked on the door. I turned my head only to notice Kira holding the tray. Her lips curled up as soon as she saw me.

"I bought you some soup and lukewarm water."

I wetted my lips, "Thanks. Where is Lukas?"

"My master had to be present in the hall today."

"Oh" I parted my lips. It completely slipped my mind that Lukas had taken leave from his duties for almost a week. He must be busy handling unfinished business.

"Thanks for the soup, Kira."

She blushed, “No problem. I hope you are feeling better. We were all worried for you and the baby.”

“I am doing fine now. All thanks to those fairies.”

“They are always helpful.” Kira hummed.

Kira placed the makeshift table on the bed and put the tray on it. I smiled at her before digging into the soup, moaning as the warm liquid touched my tongue.

One week slipped away from my hand like sand. I was cooped up in my room while Lukas was busy with his work and rarely had time for doing anything except cuddle me at night. We had worse days, so I brushed it off. As the Demon King was perceptive, he knew that I was hiding how upset and ignored I felt about the whole ordeal. He promised me it would get better. I know that his work was vital to him; he was a King after all, so I did not pressure him further.

One morning I woke up to the warm smell of waffles and noticed a note on my bedside. Stifling my smile, I eyed the glitter hearts. Did Lukas do all of that? Without further ado, I sat up and looked at the note.

Good morning baby! I know that I’ve been ignoring you for the past few days, but I hope this will make up. This is a special breakfast for my mate. After you are done with breakfast, meet me in the lawn outside.

~Lukas

Blushing at the words, I tucked it in my pillow and pulled the tray towards me. The fried chicken on the side made my mouth water. He knew me so well it was scary. I cut up the pieces and shoved them in my mouth hurriedly, excited to explore the next part of the note.

Slipping on a dress robe, I stepped out of the room. The mansion was silent; everyone occupied with their work. Also, Leo was on earth, so no one to make noise.

As I walked towards the lawn, I heard a whooshing sound behind me. Looking over my shoulder, my eyes widened at the sparks turning up in the air. I fully turned over only to notice a hole tearing through the air.

I slid back, my mouth hanging open in shock. My feet refused to move from that place.

A dark figure emerged out of the hole, and I felt blinded for a few seconds. Then I heard it. Someone was calling my name. When I looked up, my mouth parted open at sight in front of me. How was that possible? Was I dreaming again?

“Jaxon?”
