Chapter 41: Chapter 41
Persephone's question put me on the spot. Lukas did say that we cannot reveal the nature of a relationship to anyone because we were a gossip already. He was right as most of them couldn't stop staring at me the moment I walked inside with
Persephone. They were all fascinated by the thought of a Demon King having a kid with a human.
Before I could formulate my answers, someone interrupted the Queen of Underworld.
"Persephone!" I backed away as the two of them hugged, twirling each other around.
The person or demon embracing Persephone was equally gorgeous. If not even more. She had straight long brunette hair, falling to her hips and wore a white gown. Was that an ongoing theme? Wearing white?
"Hestia! It's been so long. I thought you wouldn't come"
Persephone gasped, parting away from the hug and I gawked at both of them.
Hestia? Like the Greek Goddess? The older sister? What has my life come to? If someone had told me I would be standing in the presence of two Greek goddess, I would have laughed on their faces. I suddenly felt inferior standing in front of them.
"Oh, I didn't want to endure Hades another annoying voicemail."
Persephone sighed, "Trust me, I know how you feel. Lately, he has been annoying with that earthly device."
Hestia rolled her eyes when suddenly she noticed me standing in the corner with my arms crossed together. She stared at me for a few seconds before turning towards Persephone.
"And who might this creature be?"
Should I be offended that he referred to me as a creature? I had no idea what's considered to be friendly or offensive because most of the times they are accents were so thick that it was difficult.
Persephone smiled, "Talia. She is Lukas mate."
Hestia widened her eyes, "The Demon Kings Mate? Have me met before? I feel like I saw you somewhere."
Will that ever get old? I thought to myself and inched towards them. It felt weird because I did not know how to respond to that—also overwhelmed as not to say something stupid in response.
But also wants to talk to me was she thought we met before. How was that possible when it was the first time I was meeting her? Did she mistake me for someone else? But Lukas told me there is only one mate for everyone.
"Hi, I don't think we've met before" I croaked, awkwardly waving at her.
The Greek Goddess warmly smiled, her eyes shifting towards my stomach. Hestia is the virgin goddess of the hearth, the right ordering of domesticity, the family, the home, and the state. So it was natural she would find out about my pregnancy. But she didn't make a move to touch my stomach or anything which I felt relieved at.
"Congratulations Queen"
"Oh, thank you."
"The child is the lucky one" She wriggled her eyebrows but before I could ask her what she meant her phone rang. It was still so weird—a goddess with the phone.
Persephone turned towards me, "Are you comfortable walking to the room? It's the first one on the right."
"Sure no problem" I perked
She groaned, tilting her head towards the entrance, "I have some guests to greet. See you at dinner."
I hummed as he walked away, holding the gown and a smile plastered on her face. Seriously how does she do that? I thought to myself. I can never imagine greeting over a thousand demons and still being happy as she was. Maybe it was all the experience.
Whatever it was, I wanted to talk to her about it later. When I first thought that I would be meeting the Queen of Underworld, I expected that person to be uptight and snobby. But Persephone was rather easy to talk and very kind in all.
I managed to locate the room. A gasp escaped my lips at the size of the room. It was more like a one-room flat. There was a living room leading to the very own kitchen and couple dining set. A short hallway followed by the master bedroom and attached washroom.A little flat.Wow.
It was no competition, but the rooms in Lukas mansion wouldn't be able to compete. But then again he had seven-star quality rooms.
I noticed the luggage in the room, which was surprising since Dean told us he would send after we reach. That was quick.
A sigh tore from my lips when I noticed the massive bed in the middle of the room. Maybe I can sneak a nap before dinner time.

The sound of someone opening and closing the cupboard doors made me stir in the sleep. I blinked my eyes open only to notice Lukas. He was arranging his clothes neatly in the drawer. I sleepily smiled at his form, staring at his back as he moved his arms around.
It was impossible not to gawk at him. Kira was right. Lukas was handsome and no wonder so many of them were staring at him as we entered. He had this aura around himself that he carried so confidently it was impossible not to be driven to him.
My mind automatically drifted towards the night we shared after that club. How was he so dominant and willing to satisfy me? I felt my cheeks heat up at the memory.
"Had a good nap?" He asked, staring at me, and I let out a squeak. How did he know that I was awake?
I avoided his eyes, hoping that he did not read the thoughts going through my mind. They were so filthy and embarrassing. How was I going to survive to live in the same room with him? The idea almost made me sit up. I will have to sleep in the same bed as him. It completely slipped my mind that we were going to share one room for an entire week. Even more, if some of the demons makes a scene.
Lukas dropped his clothes and turned towards me, "Do you need anything to drink? A snack? There is a fridge in the kitchen."
I hummed. I noticed that as soon as I entered the kitchen. It was huge and had an automated voice feature.
"Yeah about that... These rooms are like a mini flat."
Lukas snorted, "Hades is always over the top like that. It was not like this a century ago."
"I love this place."
"Of course anyone would. It's designed by the most famous architecture and their workers. The ones that build Didyma. He minimised their sentence for making this possible."
"Wow," I breathed.
It was quiet after that. I slipped out of bed and walked towards the kitchen to get some cold water. My eyes fell on the clock, and I let out a sigh noticing that it was two hours till dinner.
Lukas entered the kitchen, "Umm... Do you have everything ready for dinner?"
"Huh? What more do I need?"
Lukas's lips twitched, "I apologise I meant your attire. Is everything okay? We are having dinner with all the Kings and Queens today. It's kind of an opening ceremony to get together thing."
I inhaled loudly at that, nervously nodding my head. I could not even think about the prospect of sitting together with all the Kings and Queens. What if they judge me? What if they hate the idea of dining with a mortal? I did not want to embarrass Lukas in front of others, but there was nothing I could do. I was born like this!
As if Lukas noticed the various emotions flickering across my face, he inched closer to me. I held my breath as his perfume invaded my nostrils. My lips folded together as I felt his breath on the top of my head.
He tucked his hand below my chin and tilted my head towards him, "Are you nervous?"
With the way he was staring at me, I was even more nervous than before. Swallowing the lump formed in my throat I nodded my head, words unable to leave my mouth. My hands felt clammy at my side.
"It's okay to be nervous. Don't worry, I will be there with you the entire time. Yeah?" His eyes dug into mine, and for the first time I didn't see the red colour in them.
I licked my lips, "Yeah."
His eyes moved towards my lips, staring at the sheen wetness on my lips. I felt his thumb across my cheeks, stroking it tenderly as he met my eyes. Nothing matter at the moment and all I could think was about the look in his eyes. It was something I had never seen before.
"Cara" He breathed, his voice husky. I felt shivers run down my spine. My legs felt like jelly, and I was leaning against him for support.
His thumb slowly moved towards the corner of my lips, stroking it softly before he pressed it against my lips. I inhaled sharply, clenching my eyes shut. I wanted him to kiss me.
As if he read my mind pulled his thumb back, holding my cheek and leaned in.
The sound of bell ringing echoed against the room, and I jumped back, almost hitting him in the face. Just my damn luck!
