Chapter 32: Chapter 32
My vision was hazy but I could still see my best friend getting her groove on the dance floor. I puckered my lips at that. She was such an elegant dancer even without trying but I couldn't even move two steps without falling on my face.
Lukas nudged at me, probing to take it down with my drinks. He has been saying that the entire night without even slurring. How was he not affected by the alcohol? Maybe it is just me. I thought to myself. Being lightweight sucks.
He pulled the shot glass from my hand making me frown.
"Why..." I slurred, adjusting my vision to the harsh lighting. He shook his head and held my arm. Goosebumps pricked my skin at his touch. Why did I feel that way whenever he touched me? It was the third time now. The first two times we bumped hands together accidentally.
He had an amused look on his face, "I think you had enough"
"Nope," I said popping the p sound just for fun. A giggle burst out of my mouth at how funny it sounded. Maybe I should just give up everything and become a stand-up comedian. They do earn a lot than my two jobs combined.
"You're really drunk huh" Lukas sighed as he tried to pull me back on the stool. I freed my arm from his grip, making a face at him.
"I don't-" I wetted my lips suddenly feeling the dryness in my throat. Maybe I should have drank water as he suggested earlier.
"Let's dance" I burped, slapping a hand on my mouth. He chuckled, standing up from his seat and I gawked at him. How was he so flawlessly perfect? I thought it was impossible for such people to exist. Lukas is an exception.
"Are you sure you can dance?"
I frowned, crossing my arms against each other, "Why? Are you doubting my dancing abilities? I'll let you know that my neighbour is a dancer"
"And?" He blinked his eyes.
"I have seen him dance occasionally pretty sure it rubbed on me. Living in close quarters and all"
He burst out laughing, "I don't think it works that way"
"Hmph it does"'
"But no I was not referring to your dancing abilities but that you are drunk. What if you fall down?"
I shrugged, "Then you'll catch me. Simple"
He stilled like I said something out of ordinary. Before he could change his mind I tugged him towards the dance floor. The sweaty bodies were pushing against us but it didn't matter because I wanted to dance.
Lukas held my arm as we were pushed in the middle, people dancing around us. I stood on my tiptoes and wrapped an arm around his neck, pulling his head down.
"Hold me by my waist"
Lukas scoffed, "You're bossy even while you are drunk"
"That's 'cause I'm the queen"
"You sure are"
He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. Shivers ran down my spine at the way his fingers dug into my skin. The song changed into something slow and Spanish which I had never heard before.
"What does this song mean?" I scrunched my face as most of the couples were gushing and embracing each other.
"This brings back memories" Lukas voice snapped me back to reality. I looked around and a flushed realising that we were in Hell.
Also, why did I agree to dance with him so readily? Yeah because of that Chinese demon. But it felt nice, pressed against him and soaking up all the warmth.
"Yeah" I breathed as his hands went towards my waist. My face was red. I could feel it.
The dance floor unlike before was barely filled. We were allowed to move gracefully without bumping into anyone else. It was freeing. For some reason, I felt lighter than before, like floating on the air. Maybe it was because of the long nap I had earlier.
Lukas pulled me closer, our chests colliding against each other. I widened my eyes feeling his breath on my cheeks. He dipped me down, his hair falling on his face which made it unable to see his eyes. I held my breath as he twirled me around, holding my wrist in between his fingers.
"Luk-" The word died on my lips as I was facing him again. He pushed his face in the hollow of my neck, gripping my waist in between his hands. I let my eyes roll back, trying not to think about anything else but the feeling of his arms. His touch and his breath.
I parted my lips as he nudged his nose, the cold tip brushing against my pulse. My cheeks reddened as I caught Li Changyang eyes from across the dance floor. She was glaring at us, her fingers tightening on the glass she was holding. I gasped as the glass broke in her fingers, the shards piercing her skin but she didn't take her eyes off us.
"Lukas" I whispered softly trying to move away but he tightened his grip.
"She hurt her hand"
He pulled back and blinked his eyes at me. I pointed at the demon standing on the other side as her maids were attending to her hand. Lukas followed my vision and shook his head.
"Ignore her. She does that for attention"
"But the blood-"
"Talia... she's dead. It doesn't matter."
"Oh," I sighed. It still is new to me. The demon thing. Even though it's been a few weeks I am living in Hell.
"Don't pay her attention. Look at me, yeah?" Lukas cooed and it made me remember that night again. He sounded exactly like the one I met in the club. So sweet and caring.
Shaking my head I snaked my arms around his neck and let myself get lost in the music. As the song changed I inhaled sharply. It was the same song.
He mouthed the words mi enamoré de ti and swayed me along.
"What does it mean?" He hid a knowing smile and shook his head.

I couldn't hold my bladder after gulping the orange juice non-stop. It started after Lukas was abruptly pulled by Yama. He introduced him to his ex-girlfriends and they began gushing over Lukas.
I didn't like that one bit. It made me want to rip those demons hands-off but instead, I sat beside Leo and drank orange juice in rage.
After doing my business I washed my hands and was about to open the door when Li Changyang entered. I noticed the deep cut on her palm. Why didn't she bandage it?
"You think you won huh?"
I blinked at her, "What are you talking about?"
"Just because you have the strongest demon on your side doesn't mean anything. You are still a pathetic human" She spat, her eyes wide and pitch black. It made me almost take a step back.
"He's not going to love someone like you."
I huffed, "And you think he'll love you?"
She cackled like a madwoman, "He has to. After you die he won't have anyone but me"
A shudder racked through my body at the thought. It affected me more than I thought. He would still have Leo and...our baby of course.
"You're wrong" I sniffled
"He would still have our baby"
Li Changyang giggled, her finger inching towards my cheek. I recoiled at her cold touch.
"It's cute that you think this child will survive"
Dread settled in my stomach at her words. Was she planning to do something with my child? My hand instinctively went towards my belly. Noticing my action she shook her head.
"Awe don't worry I won't be the one to kill your child but your mate will do it"
"Lukas will never do something like that"
"Hmm so naive" She walked towards the basin and thrust her hand below the tap.
"No wonder he fell for this act. After all, he does have a soft spot for innocent creatures"
"Why would Lukas harm our baby?" I asked, ignoring her previous comment. The reason he bought me to Hell was because of the baby. Why would kill his own child? The first one at that.
She made a sound, turning off the tap, "If I tell you everything where's the fun in that? Anyways enjoy this as much as you want because it won't last for long"
I froze in my spot, as she casually picked the tissues and cleaned her hand. What if she's lying? After all, Lukas did say she wants attention and would do anything for it.
"I'm sure you are wondering if I'm lying or not"
I stuttered, "I-"
"Don't stress that pretty brain of yours-" she inched towards me and tucked the loose strand of my air behind my ear, "-Because this isn't over Talia."
"It is" I stepped back, my face tight.
"I'll see you soon and trust me you won't be able to stop me that time" With that she walked out.
