Chapter 9: Chapter 9
The morning starts quite slow, first off we had a school assembly that was held in the school auditorium. Then we had to get the kids' files set up with their workbooks to show off their amazing progress for the year. Lunchtime comes around and I've been requested to see the new Headmaster. I make my way there the moment I'm free to do so.
I knock on the door...
"Come in." A masculine voice commands.
I walk into the office and I'm greeted by a handsome man seated behind a large oak desk.
"You... Wanted to see me?" I stand in front of the desk.
"Talofa... You must be Vanessa?" He stands and offers me his hand.
"Yes, That's correct." I smile at him and place my hand in his.
"Great, My names Faiga Sanele." He winks as he shakes our hands.
"Please, sit." He offers.
"I called you into my office today to have a little chat with hopes of getting to know you." He sits back down. "
"What would you like to know?”
“Whatever you're willing to share with me is good enough.” He smirks.
Right.....
“Well... My names Vanessa, which you are well aware of. I'm Twenty Five years old and I live with my best friend. So... Yeah.”
That’s about all I'm willing to share for now.
“Right, That’s pretty straightforward.” He says as he clears his throat.
“If you don’t mind me asking, where does the name Faiga Sanele come from?” I ask doing my best trying to pronounce it right.
“It's Samoan, Though... I am a kiwi born.” He smiles widely.
“People tend to call me Sanz.”
“Sanz... I like it. People usually call me Nessa.”
“Sanz and Nessa... I like it, has a nice vibe to it.” He smirks and winks at me.
We sit in silence for a bit and I let my eyes wander over the walls. When my eyes finally make their way back to Sanz. I catch him staring at me. I blush feeling a little flustered under his penetrating gaze.
“Right... You’re the last one of my teachers I've had the pleasure of meeting and the only one to give me a whole sentence about themselves.” He says sounding amused.
“I like to keep to myself,” I reply honestly.
“You’re also the only one close to my age. So... I'm going to have to bring you out of your shell a bit if I'm going to at least make my stay here pleasant.”
“Your stay, you mean you’re not the new Headmaster?”
“Nope, I'm acting Headmaster until further notice.”
“Any Idea how long you’ll be with us?” I ask out of pure curiosity.
“Could be a few weeks or months. Shall we head out and eat lunch in the Staffroom?” He stands collecting his things.
“You go ahead... I have a few things I still need to set up for this evening.” I quickly get to my feet and make my way over to the door.
I reach for the handle when suddenly my hand is encased in his. I try to move it but he stops me and I feel him standing right behind me.
“A woman should never open the door when she is in the presence of a man.” He whispers in my ear.
I remove my hand from his and step away from the door.
He pulls it open and smiles.
“Now... You may leave my office.” He gestures.
“Right... Thanks!” I awkwardly say.
Because that was an awkward moment!
I leave his office and walk past Sara who’s sitting behind the desk in the school foyer. I hear her giggle a second later and on autopilot, I spin around thinking she’s having a chuckle at me.
Nope!
Sanz is standing in front of her talking to her about something as he leans over her desk. I use this moment to check him out. He’s got to be at least be 6ft5”, his hair is the colour of midnight with light waves. His skin is chocolate brown and even though he’s wearing a suit you can tell he's in impeccable shape.
But Sanz...
To my surprise, he turns his head and his eyes land on mine.
Shit...
