Chapter 53: Chapter 53

I wake up in Lucas bed the next morning, It's still dark with only the light from the moon cascading upon the room, I feel myself being pulled in; firmly against Lucas front. I look at the clock on the side table.

It's Four in the morning!

I slept right through, Luca hadn’t bothered to wake me either.  I gently lift the blanket and find myself in one of his tops. He took it upon himself to change me too.

I really must’ve been tired if I didn’t wake up from him undressing me.

I stare out the window, admiring the stars sprinkled across the sky while listening to Lucas rhythmic breathing. I thank the gods that he doesn’t snore.

“Cara Mia” He grumbles, sleepily. “I can hear you overthinking.”

He rubs his face in the crook of my neck.

“No you can't ” I chuckle.

“Si, you’re wondering why I haven’t buried myself deep inside of you.” His hand slides down my front and he roughly cups my sex.

“You’re wrong,” I say huskily. “I was thanking the gods that you don’t snore.”

My stomach erupts, filling the air with an insanely loud rumbling sound.

“You’re hungry,” Luca says, quickly rolling off the bed and puts on a pair of pants.

He turns his table side lamp on and my eyes are blessed with the sight of the beautiful being standing before me.

“I guess I slept through dinner,” I say feeling a tinge of embarrassment creep up my body.

“Si, But you’re rest is more important. Now that you’re awake it’s time for you both to eat.” He walks to my side of the bed and pulls peels back the covers.

“I can wait a bit, Luca. It's four in the morning.” I say astonished with his new profound efforts he’s putting forward.

“No it can’t, Our child will never know the meaning of what it is like to go hungry.” He gruffly replies.

I swing my legs over the side of the bed and get up.

“I won’t have you spoiling him Luca.” I rest my hand against his cheek in a loving gesture.

“He will have everything he needs and he’ll be given the right tools to help him succeed in the near future. I don’t see that as spoiling him.”

“Fair enough daddy.” I wink at him.

He pulls me in towards him,  brushing his lips against mine.

“Say it again.”

“Say what again?” I lick my lips.

A low growl leaves his throat. “The last word.”

“Daddy.” My toes curl when he growls again.

“It sounds so sexy when it rolls off your tongue Tesoro “ He kisses me.

Reaching out, I run my fingers through his dark hair and pull him in closer. His kisses are soft yet deliberate. I feel my knees weakening with every thrust of his tongue into my mouth. Wishing he was thrusting it between my other set of lips. My arousal starts to pool in my underwear, my aroma fills the air.

I push back from him.

“This will soon get out of control and Rosalia is only across the hall,” I say breathlessly.

“Si, you’re right. I doubt I can keep us quiet.” A cheeky smirk appears on his face.

My stomach rumbles loudly again.

His brow arches knowingly that I’m a starved woman for his body and food. He leans in and kisses me on the forehead, I close my eyes and lean into his kiss, sighing. Taking my hand in his.

“Let's get some food in you with the possibility of me filling you once Rosa leaves.” He chuckles, causing my stomach to flutter, then leads us to the kitchen so I can feed my face.

I sit at the kitchen counter watching Luca move around the kitchen effortlessly, making bacon and pancakes. The smell fills my nostrils and my mouth begins to water. I wipe the sides of my mouth self-consciously making sure I haven’t dribbled. Luca decides to turn around at that exact moment and raises his brows.

“What?” I ask him.

“You missed a spot.” A large smile appears on His face.

“I did not.” I start to wipe my mouth with the back of my hand, slightly feeling embarrassed.

He places my plate down in front of me, his eyes heavy on my face, and amusement dancing in his eyes.

“You ass!” I pick up a piece of bacon and throw it at him, he bops to the side and dodges it.

“Woman, I cook for you for the first time and you start throwing it at me.” He titters.

“Then don’t mock me early in the morning. You’re very lucky it wasn’t the plate.” I warn him.

“Then you’d go hungry.”

“NO... You'd go hungry because I’d fight you for your plate.” I purse my mouth with a self victory winning smirk.

“I wouldn’t make that an easy fight for you Caro Mio.”  One side of his mouth curls up in a cunning smile.

I scoff. “Since when has the great Luca Venturi EVER fought fairly?”

“Precisely.” He says as he winks at me.

I roll my eyes and start eating my breakfast. Luca sits down next to me with his plate, then his phone starts to ring from the room. He sighs deeply, looking at me then back at his plate.

“You going to answer it?” I say with a mouthful of delicious food.

He stares at me for a minute as though he’s weighing up his options. The phone soon stops ringing.

”Guess it wasn’t that important after all.” He says when the phone doesn’t ring again.

He cuts into his pancake and loads it up with bacon, drizzling a hefty amount of syrup over the top. He brings it to his mouth and just as he’s about to demolish it, there’s a panicked knock on the door.

Growling out in frustration, Luca sets His utensils down and opens the door. Cullum's standing on the other side with a phone in his hand.

“It's Gio. “ He hands the phone to Luca.

Luca looks at me briefly before he takes the phone and walks to his room, closing the door behind him.

“Who in their right mind is banging on the door at this time of the morning!” Rosalia walks in and sits next to me.

She picks up Lucas fork and sticks the food in her mouth, moaning in appreciation before her eyes land on Cullum standing at the door.

Rolling her eyes she says.

“Why is he here?”

“Your fathers on the phone with Luca.” I nod towards the closed bedroom door.

“What does he want?” She continues to eat off her uncles' plate without a care in the world.

“I'm not sure, but it must be important if he rang Cullum’s phone,” I say sceptically.

“Shit.” She says sighing in English.

I look over at her shocked with raised brows, she looks at me, then ducks her head, and tucks the loose strands from her ponytail back behind her ear.

“Ms Rosalia, you’re too pretty to have foul words leave that mouth of yours.” I try my best to mildly scowl at her instead of a full-blown one.

“Si, I've heard it all before.” She rolls her eyes dramatically. “It does sound so.. much better in English though.” She shrugs her shoulders.

“Not a good enough excuse princess.”

“I’m sorry.” She apologizes.

“Actually... No, I'm sorry." I exhale deeply.

"I've been a bit crabby lately and I have no right to scold you. Especially when I’ve been in your life for a whole five minutes.” I finish the last bite of my breakfast and push my plate forward.

I feel as full as a bull, and my stomach starts to protest.

“You okay?.” Rosalia asks concerned.

She slowly starts to rub my back with her hand when she starts to notice the change in my body language. I bring my hand to my mouth trying to keep the contents of my breakfast down.

“Like a Ray of Sunshine.” I lie.

The bedroom door opens and Luca walks out mumbling in Italian. He doesn’t look too happy either. He looks up and sees Rosalia in his seat eating his breakfast.

A growl leaves his chest.

“Would you jump in my grave that quick Rosa?” He says when he gets to my side.

“Don’t even joke Uncle. Given the opportunity, I probably would. Nowhere feels safer than being at your side.” Her tone is serious.

A glimpse of admiration flashed in his eyes for a split second.

“I live to keep you safe Neonata.” He winks at her.

“Still doesn’t excuse the fact that you have managed to eat most of my breakfast while I was gone for only a few minutes.” He looks at her through narrowed eyes.

“Ti amo.” She says with a big grin on her face.

“Ti amo.” He replies gruffly.

“You okay Vanessa?” He looks at me concerned after he notices Rosalia rubbing my back and the hand over my mouth.

“Yup, Ate too much too fast.” I groan wishing nausea would piss off already.

He looks at Rosalia. “Go into my room, on the seat you’ll see a brown pharmaceutical bag. Inside there is a few bags of Gin-Gins. Can you bring one and the pill bottles please?” He asks.

Rosalia gets off the chair. “No, just the pills,” I beg her with my eyes.

“Caro Mio?”

“I’ll be fine as long as I don’t consume anything else.” I plead.

He stares at me with one of his unreadable faces.

I wonder how he is at playing poker?

He looks at Rosalia and nods.

“Is everything okay?” I ask

“No.” Is all he says.

I want to ask him why, but I know it doesn’t concern me.  Rosalia returns with the pill bottles and gives them to Luca. He opens them, taking out a pill from each bottle and passes them to me  I swallow them with a glass of water, Lucas eyes watching my every move. When I set the glass down, his eyes move to Rosalia.

“Pack a bag, we need to leave in the next hour.” He says firmly.

“Cant I stay?” She begs

“No! Your father needs us. The both of us.” His tone holds a ‘Don't test me' affect

“Uh!” she sighs.

She heads towards her room, stomping like a child.

“You just got back.” I feel a tad disappointed.

“I know, If it wasn’t important we wouldn’t be going. But Gio has asked us to return immediately. So something mustn’t be right.” He sounds frustrated and rubs his hand over His face.

“I understand, Please be safe Luca. All of you,  please try to stay out of harm's way. We..” I place my hand on my belly. “Need you, all of you,” I say with worry consuming me.

Luca brings his hand to his lips kissing it. He places that hand over my belly, with his eyes trained to where his hand lays. I watch him through heated eyes. For some weird reason, the loving gesture has my heart racing.

“Ti amo.” He quietly says to our child.

I love you too! I say to myself,

wishing he'd said the magic words to me first.
