Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Days went by in quick steps giving rather less time for each of them to get everything prepared. While Orla was by Alder’s side all along, Alder had expressed his desire to own the world with a good tale of his own to support his intents.

Apparently, Alder had lost many of his kinfolks to a faceless person he did not know of. After loosing many of his dear people, he had made it his purpose to become so powerful, enough to bring down the ones who had hurt his people.

Orla snickered inwardly as she heard the well made tale but expressed her condolence nonetheless. Being the woman of his end, she chose to go with whatever he said and facilitate him with her help.

She heard it from Lucius and Madonna of their insight on the trouble Alder’s army could lay for them if they did not know of their weakness soon. The young wedded couple had been attempting to find the army’s hideout and see what they could do before attacking them.

It would be a fool’s measure to blindly attack the hundreds of people with no good details of them even though they had enough powers.

Lucius and Madonna together were an explosion of power and there was no doubt in it that the duo can kill thousands with a flick of their fingers. But the trouble was the people they were against are not just any human or a part of known mystical clan.

They were something else, something they never knew of. They were just like Alder but with different attributes each, which made the trouble much worse.

Lucius had coerced one of his spies from Alder’s committee members to tell him about the soldiers.

“They are much more potent to the likes of us. Many of them are the greatest people from variety of clans who are now under complete influence of Alder. Each of them has unlike strengths and weak spots.” Lucius was appalled moreover aggravated by the revelation.

He knew the troop Alder had made were greatly assembled to fight off any person who stood against them but after hearing what they might or might not possess brought a new wave of headaches.

They felt helpless when they thought of attacking them in groups.

Madonna on the other hand had been in the constant moments of anger as more of Alder was being revealed.

She despised to agree but she knew they made a mistake by and large absorbed in bringing down and depowering Alder. While they had been successful in it, they must have focused on bringing his people to the pits of hell as well.

That was when they realized what a conniving and a devil Alder was. He was profusely clever to be able to sit on his make-believe throne even after having no strength in him.

“You might want to hush down a little.” He heard a small whisper beside him.

Lucius stopped at once and glanced beside him to see his dear wife glaring at him. Her big beautiful eyes held disbelief and anger in them, pleasantly for him.

He just smiled at her and went on with what he was doing urging her to either punch him or pull out her hair in annoyance.

Madonna was already having bad time in handling many aspects she had confronted with and was not willing to put up her silly husband.

They were yet in another hiding adventure in the woods outside the tents of one of Alder’s troops. Madonna and Lucius had decided to take their time in assessing the people of troops before attacking them one after one.

Lucius realized that going for bunch of them at a time was much of a foolish feat so with Orla’s agreement, they had been studying the troops from several days so as to learn what they could do and what not.

They knew it would consume time to weed out the last of those hundreds but they had no other go for that moment. They decided to play safe then going berserk with revenge and anger blindly.

With the couple, there were few more Witches and other magic wielders who their friends were, helping them with keeping eyes on the troops. They had been giving their discoveries back to the Emor couple.

Even though Lucius and Madonna had very less people on their side of boat, they were still with them loyally seeing they were also affected badly by Alder one way or the other.

With everything going on, they were walking on thorns every day every moment and all her husband was thinking of was food.

They were hiding in the bushes as they took note of the troops movements and their conversations on a serious page but Lucius was worried about finishing the loafs of freshly baked bread he brought with him.

“You want one?” Lucius asked when he noticed eyes on him and his bread. Madonna had to close her mouth with her hands tightly and scream in them silently at Lucius’s childish actions.

“Milord, will you loose your precious life if you prioritize eating for the later part of night?” Madonna whispered back glancing at the happily eating Lucius but not forgetting keep her senses open for any danger that might approach them.

“Nay, although the main purpose of bringing food with me tonight was to avoid bickering with you like every other night.” Madonna had to applaud the man for being a free spirit even at the time of danger.

So he thought he better make noise while chomping rather chanting with her?

There, she was attempting to make out what those bunch of people might be talking about and take a clear look at their faces in the dim light of fire from afar and there, on the other side, her husband, the Lord of a region, was occupied with filling up his stomach.

Madonna gave Lucius one last glance and inched forward to take a look around the place and probably hear what they might be talking.

From their many adventures, Madonna and Lucius had realized that many potent and important people who they thought were dead were actually now a part of Alder’s army. Not to forget, they were completed under his influence whatsoever.

They were no more said alive, nor were they fully dead… just like Alder.

“Milord, look.” Madonna murmured as hitting his torso with her sharp elbow to gain his attention. With oomph, Lucius threw a glare at her before turning back to what she was pointing at.

“Who? Who should I look at?” Lucius asked back, squinting his eyes at the group sitting around the fire.

He had to rub his eyes to look closely at the direction her finger was showing. They were not too far from the group however, it was time of night and there was no proper light to have a clear glimpse.

“Do you remember the person sitting on the short tree crate close to the armories?” Lucius narrowed his eyes at the man. He lurched forward carefully without making any sounds as he looked closely to the man.

“Holy Bones of God, wasn’t that –“ Lucius swore seeing that man he never thought he would much less in Alder’s troop.

What in the burning hell was he a part of the army and how?

How could that happen?

“Aye, wasn’t that Lord Margok, the previous King of Demons and the now king’s father?” Madonna said gaping at the old sturdy man who was dead, or supposed to be dead, was sitting right in front of their eyes.

“But he was killed by an archangel. That was I heard of.” Madonna expressed as the small amount of panic settled inside her.

Lord Margok supposedly had done something that he shouldn’t have which led an archangel to avenge him. At the least, that was how the gossips and stories went after his death but they do know that Alder had once saved his life which earned a shield from the King.

Lucius was relatively calm as he noticed the previous king of Demons was before him very much like a living person.

“He is alike them, Madonna dear. He is one of them.” Both Lucius and Madonna observed him closely and wondered the same think at same time.

If he was really the previous king of Demons, then how was he not able to sniff them when they were so close to their establishment?

“We have to return back, Madonna. But I do know that we shall have to take down Lord Margok foremost. He was a dangerous opponent if left alone.” Lucius expressed as pulled Madonna back in the pits of darkness of the night before escaping the place.

They had to inform them to the King of Demons right away before it was too late.

“Do you assume some of his abilities vanished after he malformed?” Madonna posed as they were back to the safety of a lake they usually go to.

How did Lord Margok got in the hands of Alder and how?

What happened to his abilities of a Demon?

As though it was not tough for them, things had gotten tougher with revelation of many important people of history in the troops.
