Chapter 19: Chapter 19

“Nah. When you do not know of my curse or of your sister’s magic spree, I would say you are tricking me out of my interest.” Madonna looked straight into Lucius eyes without blinking and said with no hesitation.

Aah, there has to be another motive behind wedding her. The way he dodged her query with a jest, she was inquisitive.

Madonna, for one, knew with confidence that Lucius was not aware of Alys’ reality or the great motives she hid behind her innocent façade. In that case, he knew naught of the curse from the beginning.

There was something that she was missing in the whole anecdote. It was feeling that she was not frequently aware of. Ignorance!

She was having a intuition of being unaware of few important details that she had to know of but was not informed to her.

Madonna had her own cause to be a person of importance in the ongoing war. Orla has her own causes for being a brutal soldier as well. Alder Emor was the major person in the whole feud due to which he was their considerable foe.

But how is Lucius ever involved in it?

Lucius was a man who was raised by his father’s love and affection. He was provided with everything by Alder Emor, not to forget, Lucius was also provided with some great fiction tales by Alder to make certain Lucius was always on his side.

Alys was a good and an innocent sister to him. He knew nothing about the devil side of his sweet sister or the truth of his father. However, Lucius was a strong participant in the game.

She has no idea if he was going against her and Orla or against his own father. Why is Lucius even a part of it, is what Madonna finds intriguing.

On the other hand, Lucius noticed the thoughtful crease on the young Witch’s face and shook his head with a small smile. To Lucius, Madonna was a woman who cannot be replaced by anyone considering how hardheaded and conniving she was.

“It was not a complete lie though.” Lucius probed her interest, pulling her out of her thoughts.

“Meaning?” Madonna asked, long forgot about the food. She was now very much attentive of him.

“I am still breathing and excellent. Is this not evident that I am not affected by the curse?” Madonna scoffed at his buoyancy and replied with a “Yet”.

Both of them eaten sufficiently continued their journey with a little more energy and light hearts. Lucius was able to make her talk again which was a great success in itself and Madonna felt light after she finally talked to her husband.

It was yet another stunning emotion that both of them felt. Few days ago, they were undoubtedly attracted to each other but were very annoyed with each other’s personality as well.

They couldn’t stand other without cussing their stars that day but that has slightly changed. In the present time, their feelings towards each other have changed to good notch.

Now, they are considerate; did not desire to see the other in a bad disposition. Although they had their disagreements and quarrels, they started enjoying it.

Lucius was surprised by how the relation between them has started changing to better and they did not even realize it. The sharp tug he felt in his heart the other night when he had seen a glum look pass on her face when her family was reminded of; he still could not forget it.

The selfish, cold hearted woman that people call her was nothing but a prey to fate’s amusement. That one moment, that one pained expression, had made Lucius heart go wild with ache.

First it was sudden lust then it was sudden interest in bickering with her and later it was the ache he felt for her. It was the first time he felt such strongly for a woman.

He had his fair share of women in his bed. He had wild nights but they were just to satisfy his manly needs. With Madonna, it was however different. He was starting feel deep and something profound for her.

“Shall we get into a small agreement, My Lord.” Madonna said as they reached a cave which was an opening into a capricious elf tribe.

Lucius perked at the mention of a treaty and concealed his laugh as he turned to his darling wife to hear it out.

“And why shall I get into a treaty with you however petty it is? What is in it for me?”Lucius teased with a somber face which got Madonna scowl.

This man will never seize to mock her. That darn Lord!

“Spoken like a Lord. I wish you to release the bounds of my magic until midnight.” Madonna cursed under her breath as she stated her wish.

There came a day when she was begging for consent to use her own magic. What a day she was seeing!

“Nah, it is no fun. Let us think of another treaty which is much smaller.” Lucius shook his head as he felt the fox taking her throne in her mind.

Oh she is not a normal woman and giving the full reign to her magic proves what a fool he is.

He could clearly see the wheels of several schemes running in her mind as she asked for the wish.

“Why not? I am asking for what is mine to begin with. I need my witchcraft before we cross the cave.” Madonna argued feeling much in a bad mood.

How dare he deny her of what was hers?

She was just asking for them to be unsealing until midnight. That was it. It was not like she would run away when she gets her sorcery back.

“Why would you need it when I am here to protect you? You might have no impression of how capable I am in saving people; especially saving my own dear wife.” Lucius retorted with a little sarcasm and a little of display of his power over her which undoubtedly irked her.

Madonna heaved and sighed as she closed her eyes to control the overpowering sense of murder she was having for her husband.

“My Lord, you are a clever person and clever people need no clarification. I need the strength of my magic until we cross the elves territory behind this cave.” Lucius raised a brow as he heard a very dangerous vibe in her tone at the mention of the elf territory.

“You are up to kill someone powerful, aren’t you?” Lucius smelled the Witchy determination of destruction from her pretty clearly.

If she needed her witchcraft in place to cross the elves territory, then she was planning on destruction of someone powerful.

Why? Who?

“Enlighten me of your motives and I shall comply.” Lucius said as he saw Madonna staring at him silently with flames of anger in her eyes.

However, that anger was not for him. No, he was certain that the anger was not directed for him but for someone else.

“I hardly kill, My Lord. My rules of being a witch are much diverse. I do not take a life but I do take away everything that one consider his life. I destroy the very meaning of existence and permit the choice of survival on them. I am to kill a power and leave the person feeble.” A series of Goosebumps went over Lucius body as he heard his wife spoke.

He felt a need to kiss the woman in front of him who looked so dangerous and livid that aroused a man in him.

What a sight to behold! She looked absolutely astounding when she has those flames in her eyes.

Her anger was her best beauty mark. Incomparable!

Lucius froze at the urging sense of taking her in his arms and fill her mouth with his taste. Goodness, the arousal had mystified him.

Shaking his thoughts of her in his bed, he cleared his throat and reeled over what she said again. “Who is it and why?”

“There is a woman with name Keya in the Elf tribe. She has dark brown hair and eyes like forest, clear green. She is a woman of thirty years age and I shall cut her elongated nose ears and her wings.”

“I shall not permit you to make a foe of an elf, especially a lady elf.” Lucius shook his head as he turned around to resume walking before Madonna caught him by his arm and stopped him.

“I need no permission with whom I make foe of, My Lord. I need my magic back and for that I shall do whatever you wish for.” She spoke vehemently as the willpower in her eyes was firm.

“You shall do whatever I wish for?” Madonna nodded in assurance.

“Fair enough. You shall do whatever I wish for, however, you will not get your magic back. I shall make the elf woman powerless. I shall cut whatever you dreamt of. I shall do the deed and in return you keep the promise.” Lucius said with finality in his tone.

He was not going to let the maddening woman make a foe of elves. He does understand that she might have had her purpose but after seeing the ache she went through the other night, somehow he was livid in putting her in a possible danger.

Damnation, he was trying to save a woman who was good enough as him!

Argh! This enraging feeling of protectiveness for her!
