Chapter 41: Chapter 41
Olivia's pov:
The sounds of the sirens filled the air which shook all of us! I looked at the police car with my jaw dropped to the floor. I did not understand why they were here or who called them here.
"Who called them here?" Erica asked frantically. She looked so scared that her skin turned pale. And it was safe to say the same for Michael whose shirt was drenched in sweat. The two were breathing heavily and feared the police a lot!
"I did! I called the police" Sam stepped forward and replied to Erica's question.
"No—no you did not! I saw you the whole time!" Erica yelled at the top of her lungs.
To be frank, even I did not believe Sam. I was standing beside him the entire time and not once did he pull out his phone and dialed the police.
"I arrived at the hotel this morning to meet Olivia and then I saw Jack forcing her into his car. So, while following you guys here, I called the police before entering the building." he explained while looking at Jack with his blood shot eyes.
"All of you, get on your knees and keep your hands in the air!" we all heard the officer order through the megaphone in his vehicle while silence followed.
I was slightly happy that the police arrived. I was finally able to see Erica and her husband thrown in jail for the disgusting crimes they had committed. Justice woulf finally be served!
But I was not so relaxed, and I was only going to be at peace once I see Erica behind bars! She did not deserve her power or freedom for what she had done.
Suddenly without any warning, Michael took a nearby rod and knocked a stack of large pieces wood that were balanced on a brick nearby.
The wood came crashing down causing the entire atmosphere to be filled with dust and dirt. The amount of dust was so much that our eyesight was limited.
I began to cough and sneeze amidst the dust!
All of us started to rub our eyes as they began to start itching when the dust came into contact with them.
When the dust finally cleared, we noticed that Erica and Michael missing from their original spots.
We started scanning the entire building with our eyes to realize that they fled the area.
To our surprise we heard a car engine start up at the back. We turned around to see Erica and Michael escaping the premises.
The police officers started their engines and turned their cars the other way to catch up to them.
I got extremely frustrated to see Erica escaping from my grip. I couldn't allow her to roam around freely and get away from her punishment.
I knew that I had to do something to stop her.
A shine caught my eye at that moment, and I was able to find out where that was coming from.
Amongst the pile of wood, a pair of keys that looked like Jack's laid on the ground with a thin ray of light reflecting from its metal surface.
I quickly grabbed the keys and started heading towards Jack's car when suddenly I felt a grip at my arms.
Fueled with rage, I turned around immediately to find Jack halting my movement.
"Jack, I do not have time for this!" I yelled at his face.
"Lis-"
"No, I have to stop her!" I interrupted him.
I kept on yelling at him to let me go while trying to release my arm from his tight grip, but he wouldn't budge.
Finally, he got frustrated at my constant yelling and pulled me up close to his face.
I stopped screaming and looked deeply into his concerned looking eyes. At that point, I didn't feel mad at him for some reason.
I was shocked however when I heard the words, "I love you" escape his mouth.
I did not bother to look at Sam and all I could do is silently stare at Jack. My breathing finally relaxed and continued at a normal pace.
"And since I started this mess, I will rectify it!" He stated before letting me go from his grip.
I watched him as he snatched the car keys from my hand and slammed the car door shut as he sat behind the wheel.
He placed the keys in the ignition and started the car and drove off in the direction of the police.
I quickly came out of my thoughts and realized that I couldn't just stand here idle and had to follow him!
I ran towards Sam and pleaded him to drive me to them.
He held my hands which were joint together and stared at me. Jessica stood quietly at the side.
"I'll drive you!" he replied.
I was so happy that he agreed that I felt like hugging him, but it wasn't the best time to do so.
We quickly got into the car and started following Jack who took a shortcut road to the main road, according to Sam.
While in the car, something was telling me that something was off. But I wasn't able to put my finger on it, so I dismissed it to me being stressed out.
As we continued driving, I noticed a huge sign extended in the air saying, "Auto Gas Station."
And that's when I saw Jack's car heading towards Erica's car that was close to the gas station.
It was that moment when all of us yelled Jack's name when he unexpectedly turned and drove his car into Erica's car at the gas station.
Memories of Jack's final three words flooded my mind as an explosion took place.
A month later, I was walking quite silently. The sun was out, and the birds were chirping. I had a bouquet of flowers in my hand that I gripped hard.
I was in a graveyard, heading towards the grave that belonged to Jack. Once I arrived there, I was able to see Jack's name engraved on the tombstone.
I bent my knees and placed the flowers on top of the dirt of the grave while wiping out a tear at the corner of my eye.
I took a few moments to keep Jack's name alive in my head before heading out of the graveyard! For the whole month, I kept on doing this! I would always come here to place flowers on Jack's grave.
As I was heading out into my car, I noticed Sam standing near the gate. He had his head lowered and hands in his pocket.
I felt a bit angry to see him there after so long. I was never in contact with him for days and now i finally see him face to face.
I was about to walk past him when he grabbed my hand and looked at me with teary eyes.
"What do you want now?" I asked in a hurry as I was desperate to leave! His presence made me very uncomfortable.
"Olivia listen-" he tried to speak but I immediately cut him off.
"Don't you get it? I have never forgiven you! And I don't think I could ever do it! Please Sam, just leave me alone!"
I said and walked a little bit ahead before stopping near him.
"Look, I wanted to tell you something really quick!" I started to explain.
"You don't have to worry about me at all! I will be heading back to India tomorrow to start my new life!"
Sam gave a confused look at me and started to say, "What do you mean?"
I shook my head and continued to explain, "I want to put all what happened here in LA behind me! I want to rebuild my life! And in order for that to happen, I cannot stay here! I cannot be here any longer! It suffocates me!"
Having said that to a shocked Sam, I rushed myself and ran towards my taxi and drove away. Leaving Sam behind and waiting for my new life!
